Your videos of you babies are great LOTG...I particular love the one of Pugsley on the move :D ..looks like he is going to be a real character. Your Babes look like they are growing so well & are looking really chubby & Lola looks like she is a perfect mum. I Just thought I might ask you, seeing that your pups are the same age of mine...if your babies eyes are open yet? My babies eyes are still closed (although I can see some slits happening in some of the puppies eyes ) & I can't remember what day they opened with my last litter.

I had one of my pups from my 1st litter come for a visit last week...he was desexed at 4 months old & is very leggy, lanky & much taller than his dad & his brother Jasper (the pup that we kept) who is still entire. Bailey & jasper are shorter than Rex..but much broader & bulkier than him. So I would have to agree that Rex being desexed early may have affected his growth.

Good luck Merrirose..Hope you have some babies by now.

Received my puppy packs this morning by courier, I ordered them the day after the pups where born, so they only took 9 days to arrive...In heaps of time for my puppy people. I got a bag of 1.5 dry & a couple of pamphlets (no tin of wet ) & only got the blue plastic Advance bags, not canvas bags..but I still can't complain with getting freebies & it saves me from buying food for my puppy people. Pretty happy with the service.

So sorry to hear about the little one Tibbimax71 I was initially a little worried about my smallest girl who was born 168g while her biggest sister was born 238g..But she has proven to be very strong & a little fighter & weighed in at 305g last night..she is still a long way behind her big sister who weighed in at 447g last night, but I'm still happy that the little one has nearlly doubled her birth weight.

I worm my litter with Drontal worming suspension at 2, 4, & 6 weeks old LOTG..& then I send 2 months supply Advocate home with them ( I ask the new owner to apply the first dose to the puppy when they get the puppy home ).

Neither have I...all the docked Aussie terriers I have seen look perfectly balanced to me.

Yeah Brandy become a little fussy too & completely refuses to eat her dry food. So I'm just giving her plenty of human grade mince with cottage cheese, raw chicken wings, scrambled eggs made with yoghurt & lots of water mixed with yoghurt & goats milk or chicken soup mixed with water. She will eat all this...just won't eat her puppy dry food. I asked my vet if I should maybe supplement the puppies with some Wombaroo or goats milk to help Brandy out ..as my biggest fear is for her to get eclampsia with such a big litter. But she said as long as I keep giving her lots of foods high in protein & calcium & making sure she drinking lots of fluids..& aslong as Brandy has lots of milk & the puppies keep gaining reasonable weight then we should just leave them be for now.

I also own/breed a traditional docked breed & while I do prefer the look of a docked tail on my breed I have got used to seeing tails on my dogs & actually think they can look very cute. I love my breed far too much & would never ever stop owning/breeding them because of tail docking laws. Having said that I do get a little jelouse when I see piccies on facebook from a couple of my American Aussie terrier breeder friends with their lovely neat looking docked Aussies...but I can't see tail docking ever becoming legal in this country again & I am quite willing to just suck it up & to continue to enjoy my Aussies with their cute little tails.

Tell me about it...Its lovely at the moment just looking at them, making sure Brandy has enough food & drink & cleaning the bedding..with Brandy doing all the work, but I know in a couple of weeks time when they start becoming active & Brandy stops looking after them...I'm going to be very very busy. To be honest though I sort of can't wait till they are old enough to be weaned & most of the work is taken of Brandy...its such a big job for my poor girl.

Here's some pics I took of my babies this morning now 5 days old

cool! they are all lovely! Some of those aboriginal names are really pretty...I especially like Kirra & Miah.
-
Make sure she's drinking heaps of fluids too LOTG...If Lola is fussy with just drinking plain water, mix some water with some chicken soup or maybe some water with yoghurt & a bit of goats milk too. I give this to my girl & she has loads of milk at the moment...although she has a huge litter to feed aswell.

Your babies are gorgeous Shellbyville

With my last litter, I had a puppy person buy a little bitch of me & a little male of another Aussie breeder at the same time..she ended up calling them Dusty & Nellie after Slim Dusty & Dame Nellie Melba.. I love the Australian themed names for an Aussie terrier.
-
Or Huey, as in "Send 'er down, Huey!!" the bush rain prayer! I know its not very creative ...but I also like Matilda (Tilly ) for an Aussie bitch.

Congratulations Shellbyville on the safe arrival of your litter. :D A nice mixture of colours aswell. Sorry about the little one that didn't make it. can't wait to see pics..

Totally agree..IMO I do not breed DUDS, I breed beautiful healthy puppies with a great temperment, if one happens to be good enough to win in the show ring, then that is a bonus ..not a requirement. My 2nd litter has just been born so a little early to tell how they will turn out...but with my first litter all of them went to pet homes even though there was a couple that could of been good enough for the show ring. All pups where sold at the same price..all of them cost the same to breed & raise, all had equal attention & love when I raised them. All my puppy owners are very happy & satisfied with their beautiful healthy pets & I don't believe one of them would ever refer to them as a Dud. :D

Yep I agree..all this sort of stuff can get very confusing especially when you are suffering from "puppy brain"

Thanks so much for that I feel like a bit of a dill now for not knowing that.

Hi everyone..I know this might be a silly question but I'm a little confused on what date of birth I should put for my litters registration. Brandy went into labour on Tuesday night 12th April & had her first puppy at 10.00pm, she went on to have another 5 pups before midnight & another 3 pups born after midinight. So I was just wondering about the 3 puppies born after midnight as there DOB is technically the 13th April. Do I still register the whole litter for the 12th April, the 13th of April, or do the 3 puppies born after midnight have to be registered separately? Thanks guys if anyone could help clear this up for me that would be fantastic ...or I might just have to ring Dogs Vic. Nicole
