  1. I would like to know this too tiff-689. My dogs also get kibble in the morning with a dollop of yoghurt, & then kibble in the evening mixed with raw chicken or turkey mince, or sardines, & sometimes tinned salmon or tuna....also twice a week they will get a raw egg mixed in with it too. Been feeding them this way for years with no problems.
  2. Congratulations on the arrival of your beautiful Rottie babies. A lovely even litter too....So glad everything turned out well after all the drama. Look foward to seeing pics as they grow, & I love all the names you've got on your list too.
  3. Stunning photos!!...Stunning dogs!! I so want to own an Aussie Shepherd one day.
  4. If you were in my area, you would have definately received a sample from me by now either by post or courier. I know Sherel is pretty busy at the moment with the Melbourne show coming up, so I would contact her again & let her know how urgent it is. You only need about a week to change them over from the other food. I changed my girl & the puppy over, cold turkey, & they had no problems, but that is not recommended. Thanks Sheena, I will send Sherel another email to let her know I haven't received it yet. I have enough Advance left to last them approx 2 weeks, so it's not that urgent...but I am very keen to try them with it.
  5. Just wondering how long it usually takes to receive a sample of it in the mail? I contacted Sherel over a week a go, & she said she would send me some but I still haven't received it yet. Should I wait a little longer? or should I contact Sherel again? I don't want to look as if I'm nagging her. I'm tempted to maybe call into the Sunshine supplier on Saturday & buy a 3kg bag....I'm half way through my bag of Advance, & would really like to start changing the dogs over to something else, so I'm very keen to try them with some BH.
  6. Good to hear that your Cairns are doing well on it Missymoo. I'm hoping my Aussies also love it & do well on it. Can't wait to receive my sample & try them with it.
  7. I agree this is getting insane....it's scary to think we could lose so many beautiful breeds. I keep thinking that atleast my breed is probably safe, but who knows what will happen, & I can't get too comfortable....my breed also chases things. I keep seeing a future with no dogs at all with the way things are going.
  8. Why did you get this dog in the first place, if you aren't willing to train & excercise it properly?? I feel so bad for the dog & breeder in this case ...You signed a contract, do the ethical thing & return the dog back to the breeder. Personally if you where one of my puppy buyers & I was alerted to this thread, I would be giving you back the money just to get the dog back of you. I really find it very disrespectful to your breeder that you are coming on this public forum to talk about this issue, rather than adressing the situation with your breeder first. How would you like it if one of your own puppy buyers disrespected you in this way?? You signed a CONTRACT do the right thing!!
  9. Thanks Sherel for sharing those lovely stories. I was thinking that when I receive my sample that it wouldn't do any harm to just give Jessie a bit of it & see how she goes.If it doesn't work out, then I always have the option of trying her with the Canidae. I'm very excited to try all my dogs with BH & I'm hoping they all love it & do well on it. It would be a bonus if Jessie does well on it too. As for giving Jessie treats, I'm pretty careful with what I give her these days. She gets the occassional Pigs ear & liver treats. She does love smackos, but I no longer give them to her anymore.
  10. I agree, but I'm hard pushed to find a vet who believes diet has anything to do with yeasty ears. You're right though vet should always be first call, but a bit of research on the side is a good thing. My vet doesn't believe diet & yeasty ears are related...She is against feeding raw & told me to feed Jessie Advance Turkey & rice, which hasn't really helped her at all. So unfortunately I don't have much faith in her for feeding advice.
  11. That's what I found when I did a google search PF, which is why I have concerns for the Brewers yeast in the BH. I have contacted Sherel & she is sending me a sample of BH which I'm going to try with my 3 other dogs. I've decided not to give Jessie any of it, I just don't want to risk it. I've decided to get a sample of Canidae (the no grain one ) & try her with that instead.
  12. Hi everyone, this is probably a stupid question, but I need to ask it just to make sure. After reading the Black Hawk holistic dog food thread, & reading all the positive reviews, I am very interested in trying it with my lot. I have been looking at switching them onto a better premium food for a while & Black Hawk sounds fantastic for quality & price. I do have one query about it though...I have noticed that one of the ingredients is Dried brewers yeast,& was wondering if this would be harmful to a dog with recurring yeast infections in her ears. My 14 year old Aussie terrier x JRT Jessie has had this ongoing problem since she was 9, her ears have been flushed out several times & we are curently managing her condition with drops, although theres the possibility that she might need surgery to get her ear canals removed, which due to her age we would really like to avoid. She is currently been fed a 50/50 raw & Advance turkey & rice dry food, we would still feed her the raw but, wan't to change the kibble to a better quality. Would the Black Hawk Holistic be safe to feed to her? or should I try something different like Canidae or Artemis? Thanks in advance everyone Nicole
  13. Go to the first thread & click on the link for Australia Wide contacts...there are a few places in VIC. Thanks Sheena, I will send Sherel an email & see if she can post me a sample of it...If my dogs like it, I have a choice of getting it from Gisborne Boarding kennel or the Sunshine stock feed store...which are the closet distributors too me.
  14. Wow this food sounds really great...I'm very interested in it. I've been thinking of putting my dogs on to a more super premium dry food (I currently feed Advance )& I've thought of either trying them with Canidae or Nutro, but after reading this thread & all the great reviews, I would be really interested in trying them with BH. What would be the easiest way of me getting hold of a 3kg bag or a sample of it ? I live in Pentland Hills Vic (about 10 minutes past Bacchus Marsh )
  15. Unbelievable My heart really breaks for this breeder, who has gone to the trouble of putting this baby on a plane, thinking she has sent him/her to a loving forever home. Tell your friend to do the right thing & contact the breeder, I'm sure she will want to be involved in finding this puppy a new loving home, & like most caring breeders they like to know where all their babies are in the world.
  16. Gorgeous Pics...Banjo looked like he was a very special, beautiful boy.
  17. We have Jessie, who is still with us & going strong. Jessie was desexed at 6 months old. a)Breed: Australian terrier x JRT b)Age: 14 c)Diet: Earlier years was My dog canned food & Pedigree dry food...Recent years has been Raw & Advance dry food, aswell as sardines, raw eggs, yoghurt, occasional pigs ear or smackos for a treat. d)supplements: No supplements at this stage e)Exercise regime: About 1 hour exercise per day, mostly off lead around our property, but occasionally will get taken to park or beach on lead. She also keeps active playing with our other much younger dogs, & is still fit enough to keep up with them too. f)Temperment: Very happy, friendly & laid back...with lots of personality plus!! :D Does sleep alot more these days due to her age. g)Prior/current health concerns: Has been suffering from yeast infections in ears since 9 years old, being treated & managed with drops atm...but possibility of needing surgery in the future to remove ear canal if condition worsens. Jessie is now about 90% deaf, as has recently been diagnosed with a grade 1 heart murmour. h)Living arrangements: enjoys spending time outdoors, but has always lived indoors with us.
  18. Will be saying a prayer that China pulls through Sandra....We have snakes on our property too, & the thought of my dogs being bitten is one of my biggest fears.
  19. Wow he must be strong, & your little miracle puppy ....glad to hear he is doing well. Congratulations on the litter, they are absolutely gorgeous.
  20. Yes (4718) 43% No (6181) 57% Looks like all our votes are making a difference...but it still sickens me that there are 4718 votes that want to see Rotties banned.
  21. Awww...they are so adorable, I especially love the little guy in the middle pic, with the blue collar It breaks my heart to think there are people out there that want to ban them.
  22. I think I will always own a Aussie terrier into retirement age...however at some stage I would like to own an Aussie Shepherd too.
  23. I voted too...it makes me sick that this poll even exists. My husbands family has owned Rotties for years, & IMO that are the most gorgeous affectionate sooks you could ever meet. This Poll is just stupid, & I hope it's not a sign of what's yet to come...Could it be possible that this beutiful breed could be next on the hit list?
  24. Tanya, if you are already a member, all you have to do is sign in, then on the right hand side you will see puppy notices, click on that & you will see add listing, if you click on that you can then do your litter ad.
