What Is Your Favourite Animal To Own
Baileys mum replied to Rascalmyshadow's topic in General Dog Discussion
Besides my Australian terriers, I also adore my 2 horses Kodie & Cass & my 21 yo Cockatiel Percey! -
My Brandy had her puppies today, 4 girls & 2 boys, all whelped naturally with no complications. All the puppies & Brandy are doing well :)
-
I agree with everyone else, she will quickly learn any new name you give her! :)

My girl is 4 weeks pregnant too, & the only thing she will eat at the moment is cooked meat & scrambled eggs & yoghurt. She will not eat any raw (except for chicken wings )& is turning her nose up at the dry food. I have ordered some Nutrigel & some K9 Puppy Gold to make sure she is getting her vitamins & minerals, & will mix it with raw mince. She was like this with her last litter too, & all pups where born healthy & a good size, so I'm not going to stress about it too much! :)

Got confirmation yesterday afternoon that we are expecting Australian terrier puppies...due approx 18th June :) We saw 4 little puppies on the ultrasound, with the vet saying there is a possibilty of 2 - 3 more...very excited!! :D

One of the puppies from my last litter died early last year from fox bait poisoning Her owner was out walking her in their suburban st & she picked up something from the nature strip & ate it swallowed it quickly before her owner could do anything about it. A couple of hours later she became violently ill & they rushed her to the vet. The vet did everything possible, but she died 2 days later She was only 9 months old Apparantly there was an animal hater in the community planting 1080 fox bait, in areas where dogs where being walked, & Skippy was the 1st of about 12 dogs that where poisoned & died They caught the person doing it, but my puppy owner said the identity of the person has not been revealed to the communtity!

I think this would be a great idea...you could still have your dogs with you while you are recovering, & hire a dog walker to come every day & excercise them for you...then you will only need to find a kennel for the 4 days that you are in hospital :) Best wishes that all goes well for you..

As long as he's careful & he doesn't accidently let the dog escape via the front door, then he could be in trouble...but I agree they are hardly going to inspect where he is sleeping at midnight!

Can't he walk this dog (with muzzle on of course ) early in the morning or in the evening when there are not many of the skateboarders around? I don't understand why he would take the dog out during the day when he knows rightly the skate boarders upset the dog? It seems like a very dangerous situation to me!

Something I Noticed When I Was In The Usa
Baileys mum replied to HugUrPup's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yes recently my friend in the USA & her 2 daughters flew from Wisconsin to Palm springs for the Nationals Specialty Aussie terrier show...they brought 3 of their Aussies with them, which all travelled in the cabin with them, 1 dog per person, & they stayed in a hotel for 5 nights which allowed the dogs to stay in their room too! :) All my friends Aussies are crate trained. -
Sad Experience At The Vet Today
Baileys mum replied to Little Gifts's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh they poor little girl, I really feel for her ...It's nice that she had you to talk to though. My sister had to PTS he little Maltese girl, & the vet's where so lovely about it, they gave her some time alone with Bonnie's body afterwards (as her body was being left with them, as they where orgainising cremation for her ) & they also made her a cup of tea. A few days later she also received a lovely sympathy card in the mail from the vets too. :) Yes I agree the hardest part of pet ownership for me, is the fact that we will lose them some day -
Yes I also read it, that the breeder more than likely has more than one bitch, & they only have no more than 2 litters per year for their breeding program, not per bitch! :)

Agree! For some reason BH brings out the worst in people, if your dog doesn't do well on it, no problem find a food that your dog does! There is really no need to harp on about it. I've got all 3 of mine of it, all three are show dogs, do agility and flyball. So having them in excellent condition is essential. I do recommend people try it because I've had awesome results but I am certainly not going to make them feel bad if their dog drops condition and need to swap.....hell I didn't bag any of the other premium brands when one of mine couldn't keep weight on and looked like crap. Totally agree, I have tried my dogs on 3 very popular premium dog foods in the past, & my dogs did terribly on them, but I didn't come onto a dog forum to bag them out, because I know some dogs do well on certain foods, while others will not! My dogs have been on BH for 15 months, & I couldn't be happier with the results, but I know it's not a food that every dog will do well on too! As Sheena has mentioned Sherel, does not come on Dol anymore or read this thread, so I think if you have had problems with the food, or have any questions, you should really email her direct...She is very nice, & I'm sure she would be more than happy to talk about the food, & answer any questions! :)

It's a good idea if you are on FB to join a few FB groups of your breed too JessicaM...I have joined a few of my breed, & have struck up quite alot of close friendships with breeders & owners all over the world...it's a great way to see photos too, & to see what others are breeding. I am saving my money, & hopefully will be attending my breeds National Speciality show next year in the US to finally meet some of my friends & their beautiful dogs :)

What Do You Feed When You Run Out Of 'normal' Food?
Baileys mum replied to a topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I don't usually run out either...but if it ever did happen, we have tinned tuna, sardines & mackeral in the pantry, frozen vegies, & we could probably make them some eggs too! :) -
That was my poll, that Sheena has linked, & at the time I had just started feeding my dogs BH...I can happily say that 15 months later, I am still feeding them BH. My dogs are thriving on it, nice shiny coats, stools nice & firm, & no more gas ect... I love the food, & won't be switching them to anything else any time soon :D I guess it is like with any dog food, some dogs will do well on it & thrive, other dogs, it will not agree with them at all, & it is just the matter of finding the right food for your dog....if you read the feedback on the BH FB page most of it is very positive. :) ETA: I have recommended BH to my sister, my mum (for her cat ) 3 of my puppy owners, my neighbour across the rd, & 2 of my FB friends...all dogs & cat love it & are doing well on it, all owners very happy! :)

Dog Bitten While In Boarding Kennel
Baileys mum replied to Bisart Dobes's topic in General Dog Discussion
I too would like to no the name of these kennels please...so I can avoid in the future! -
I work from home, so the dogs are rarely left on their own...If I do go out, & it's a hot day...the dogs are left inside with the A/C on. I wouldn't leave them outside in summer, as I'm too scared of them overheating, & too scared of a snake coming into the yard!

Lol Crazy cresties...here's one of my Bailey, not happy at all!

Brandy & Jasper would like to wish all Dolers a very Merry Christmas & a Happy & Safe 2013 Bailey would also like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas too!

I just had a quick look at the ANKC puppy registration statistics, & sadly noticed that in 1988 there was 817 Australian terrier puppies registered, but last year there where only 272, so the numbers have really declined alot in 23 years. The breed is however much more popular these days in the USA & Europe. I also noticed that in 1988 there where 2,019 Maltese puppies registered, but in 2011 only 299, so yes the numbers this gorgeous little breed are really declining too. I also thought it interesting that in 1988 there where 2,444 Staffordshire Bull terrier puppies registered, & in 2011 there where 4,483 registered...nearlly doubling in number. So I guess its really what breeds are popular at the time, but it is very scary & worrying to see some of our beloved breeds declining so much in numbers.
