This is going to be a dumb question I'm sure, but you put filters on outside of the lens don't you? I got a 50-200mm lens but they gave me a 55mm filter, but I can't seem to actually fit it anywheres. Just wanted to make sure i am not doing something wrong or they just gave me something I can't use

Some non-dog people don't really understand crating

I have never seen a fighting dog used in a role with Police or security guards. They aren't as controllable/trainable as dogs such as the German Shepherd. My brother was in the Army in QLD and good mates with an MP on the dog squad of the Army base guards. He said the level of self-control those dogs have is amazing. He saw a training scenario one day - in a bite suit one of the MP's ran from a dog that was sent to detain him. Just before the dog reached the guard in the bite suit, the dogs' handler issued an order to stop the chase and to return to his side. It did so immediately, without hesitation. Bet a pitbull wouldn't have that kind of restraint. Why do you think they aren't used in this role? They are and have been http://en.wikipedia....wiki/Police_dog http://www.kold.com/...redirected=true http://abclocal.go.c...ocal&id=6625698 (this one actually says they don't make very good police dogs because they are too nice) http://bulldogbreeds...ullterrier.html you might do some research and educate yourself rather than making up nonsense.

Labradors are not allowed in some US towns. Ontario was trying to ban them as well as other places. Why would that happen to your cuddly family dog?? If you think your breed is immune from BSL you are deluding yourself.
-
No need for gundogs either Matthew.... shooting game is banned in most states. And as they bite kiddies, best we be rid of them. OMG, another nasty Labrador attack - read the excuses made for the dog And another!! Holy cow Labs are dangerous Its clear this breed attacks kids with no good reason. Best we kill them all now. The fact you're searching the net for stories of dog attacks by Labradors to defend pitbulls demonstrates a level of desperation... I think it is to prove a point...you are the one claiming it doesn't happen. Unfortunately it happens with ALL Breeds I think most people don't even know what a pit bull is - they just see a pink nose. I haven't heard the DNA tests come back anyways to prove whether it was or wasn't? Have also heard it was a mastiff but that is also sometimes just labeled for any large dog.

I could be wrong, but I think she is saying that is what people assume. (hope anyways)

that is disgusting and totally unacceptable. Shame on whoever sent it. We all have bad days and we all say things we regret. All you can do is learn from it and apologise if you see the woman again eta i can kinda of understand where everyone is coming from though. I often see people walking down the sidewalk with very small puppies that look like they are too young to be out- something to consider i guess

How Do You Deal With How Other Ppl "discipline" Your Dogs?
Cat replied to BC Love's topic in General Dog Discussion
I would love to know an effective (as mine obiously are not lol) way of correcting him so he stops. Its not constant jumping either.. One method is to fold your arms, keep quiet, and turn to the side. It isn't rewarding for the dog. Another way is to raise your knee so that dog contacts that instead of your hands or body. That is also unrewarding for the dog. I would ask the man and his kids to stay away, and not use them for training. Practice with your own family, so you can control the excitement level of your dog. A dog is not in a 'learning to be calm' frame of mind when excited kids are running around making noise and playing. Kids excite dogs, and by you having these children over playing at your house nearly every day, your dog may be getting overstimulated by them. Your dogs jumps on people, so provide fewer opportunities for this to happen and it won't become such an ingrained habit. The dog needs to learn other ways to get attention because at the moment the jumping up may be working very well for it. Also, have a look at this link. NILIF. I think that's what she means by "being a tree" Whatever you do, make sure everyone does it. From experience it doesn't help unless everyone sticks to the same method (for example, you do it, but your partner pats the dog when he jumps up - which doesn't help at all) -

How should she correct it? It is a puppy and she is working on it. Unfortunately some dogs do take longer to pick it up than others. -

This sounds like a great idea. We did something similar in training classes -

I agree with RalleyValley. If they are always at your house shouldn't they take turns and play at the neighbour's house sometimes? This would get rid of part of the problem. Otherwise I wouldn't let the kid or the dad around when the pup is out. Your house. Your rules. It takes time to train a pup. -
Awww Bassett pups are so cute! I think Odie is a perfect name for him All the pups are cute!. It's making me clucky !

Need Suggestions Of Dog Trainer/behaviouralist
Cat replied to spoilt lab lives here's topic in General Dog Discussion
Another alternative is Barkers in Balance. I saw them about separation anxiety, but they may be able to help with fear aggression if Steve is too far away. http://www.barkersinbalance.com.au/index.php -
I don't know about the others, but I find this one a bit hard to believe I have heard of some housing developments where you are not allowed to own dogs. Perhaps that is what she means? http://www.portstephens.nsw.gov.au/files/60325/File/22.PartC6-TanilbaBay-KoalaBayEstate.pdf C6.C11

+1 see http://www.naybesa.com/?p=3733 for additional info and pictures (and some atrocious spelling). Seems there's suggestion that Cocaine was well fenced and someone let him out, and some witnesses saw no attacks on children . . . cute looking pup. Wow hands up everyone who is surprised.. poor dog .. i note she shot the dog in the leg (she wasnt trying to kill the DOG) and there were 4 shots fired ETA I especially liked the bit where the victims son heard his mother screaming his dad had been shot... so he went and got HIS gun.. nope nothing odd here, just your average American family Hardly. What a horrible story
