  1. Aint that the truth!! There is quite a bit of slobber on my pants too! But I would have it any other way. Clyde- that is exactly what I think too! Our life has completely turned around, its lovely. Beautiful photos, loved the (3rd should be blown up & framed) & 4th last awa with the girls.
  2. Fabulous photos Nik. I love the one of Tilba going for the ball.
  3. Tilba & I had a great time too. I was very proud of her, she was happy to say hello to all the dogs & only got a little over excited when the balls came out. It will be a few days b4 I can post the photos I took. Oh, & I think the little sheltie's name was Rufus.
  4. Inland from Coffs Harbour off the New England Hwy. Very nice place.
  5. I'm glad to hear that you've learned all you can b4 getting your puppy. I always recommend Ian Dunbar's site to ppl wanting puppy info. & like his methods, but adjust to suit your lifestyle.
  6. So apart from having to re-wash Kenzie this morning, how are they both now?
  7. Is that your mum with the red spots? My son used to be allergic to flea bites when he was young. Fleas bite in groups of bites. And they are very itchy. My son used to come up in big welts like hives. My 1st border collie used to be allergic to fleas & came out in large itchy crusty sores. After a couple of years trying different things I finally discovered Advantage & she never had the problem again. When my son had the flea problem I used to flea bomb the house once or twice over the warmer months. It used to keep the fleas at bay. The Advantage should work but may take a while for you to notice. It kills the fleas on contact & sterilises them & they can't lay any more eggs. It also kills the flea larvae. You can spray the inside of the vaccuum bag b4 vaccuuming to kill any fleas that may be in your carpet. They also like to get into the crevices around the skirting boards. You will also have to wash the dogs bedding. There's a sticky about fleas here http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=92212
  8. I know, someone warned me once about one she'd seen in the long grass near the sheep area.
  9. The main perimeter of the whole complex has fences yes but I'm not sure where we will be meeting. There are plenty of taps. There is a GSD show on so the main ring areas should be free ;) The gates are always open, there is no fence between the carpark and the rings, so it is not dog proof fencing. There are also sheep on the property for herding so the dogs need to be kept away from them and there is an open show and obedience trial for the GSDs on their ground so they won't appreciate other dogs running over to their side. Lovely place to meet, some shade, plenty of water taps, and large flat grassed areas for photos but it is not an off lead park it is a dog showground. If your dog has a rock solid recall and won't worry anyone else then they can be let off but otherwise no. The road out the front has an 80km speed limit so don't take any chances. I only ever let mine off on the GSD ground when it is empty because it is furthest away from the road. Also remember if you are taking clam shells, make sure they don't make mud holes in the grass. The groundkeeper will not be happy if you do. I may drop out to meet you all if I get a chance. If not hope you all have a fun day. There are areas beyond the car park where ppl take their dogs for toilet breaks but there is a dam, also we could use some of the car parks (it's divided into 4 lots) if they aren't all used. Not fenced & next to the exit road. The sheep are at the back of the grounds opposite the GSD rings so not really easily seen. Google maps Luddenham Rd Luddenham NSW closer to the eastern end off Mamre Rd. to get an idea of what it's like. I'd say if you have a name tag from your dog club wear it.
  10. Yeah, definitely bring Spice. Tilba was bathed today in preparation for Saturday. Just have to keep her clean for the next 4 days. ;)
  11. Agreed, Ness. The off lead parks can be a nightmare. I only use the tiny local one if no one else is around. My two dogs have both had a 24 hour vomiting bug this weekend after going there in the last few days so will giving it a wide berth for a while. If the main purpose of this meet is to take photos then a more controlled area would be a better idea than a free for all in an offlead park. Erskine Park is a lovely ground, clean and well kept, which is a lot more than you can say for the average off lead dog park. The general public do not use EP as it belongs to the members of DogsNSW. It is not a public park and the average pet owner would not know it exists. I much prefer EP as I'm familiar with it & know how to get there, it's only 25 mins from home & I don't get many traffic light hold-ups. On leads fine with me, Tilba hasn't played with other dogs other than my son's. She definitely wouldn't come back if she got distracted. Something I need to work on. ;)
  12. Same here although Tilba loves human pats & jumps on everyone she can be a little obsessed with other dogs if she thinks they will take her food.
  13. What about Top? I'd like to meet him, as I can't go to the Santa photos.
  14. I agree the only way is to fence it off. We didn't when Sooty started destroying the garden not that it was much to start with. The only garden in my yard is a big tree & a couple of large pots. All the flowers are in the front garden.
  15. That's a long way to come for lessons but a great excuse for a holiday. I'm a little confused about you getting your pup. Where is it from?
  16. Great idea, but I don't have any training videos. Will look forward to watching everyone else's.

    Bad Dog

To give her something to do when you leave, try scattering all her breakfast kibble over the back yard. She will take longer to eat than just in a bowl looking for every little piece. Then she will probably sleep for a few hours & then perhaps have another tour of the yard for any possible missing bits.
  18. You could also buy a big plastic garbage bin & cut the end off & attach the sheet on 1 end.
  19. There are a lot of if's in this suggestion, but have you thought of using black ointment(ichthammol) or magnaplasm, both drawing agents. I had a sore toe last year after clipping the nail from the outer edge, ingrown toenail) over a few days it got sorer & sorer & swelled up til it became unbearable. I put a lot of the black ointment on it & wrapped it up well overnight. The next morning a when I gave it a slight squeeze a piece of toenail popped out. I don't know if it would work. 1 if it's ok to use on dogs, if she should lick it off. 2 if she would leave it on all night & 3 if the pad skin is too thick for it to work. Just a suggestion.
  20. Never had to teach my dog bite inhibition, she wasn't mouthy when we got her at 12 w/o. I believe her being with some of her litter mates for those extra 4 weeks helped with that.
