  1. It was well worth the effort. They look great, & if you're not using the pic this year it will make wonderful Christmas cards next year.
  2. I guess if they qualify then they will be represented. Given there are not many of them participating in some of the sports this reduces their chances of being represented. That's pretty much it. We'd love to see you out at frisbee or flyball or agility. For frisbee the only breeds represented in the qualifiers in Brisbane were BC's, Stumpy Tailed Cattle Dogs, Kelpies and maybe a Toller (plus mixes). (oops - never have been any good at breeds other than BC!! ) We'd love to see more in the sport - but most other dogs are too smart to chase a plastic disc all day! Are there clubs doing disk all over Australia? I haven't heard of any in NSW.
  3. I'd been looking forward to it for weeks. I loved it but I think it should have been on for at least 3 weeks showing all the heats in each sport over the 3 days. I missed seeing Tilba's 2 aunts Molly & Bonnie in the flyball because they didn't make the finals. Loved seeing all the border collies well presented in all the sports.
  4. Smart doggie, very sweet.

  7. Not a photographer here, what is vignetting please?
  8. I had my son's dog on the Billinghurst diet back in the day when you had to make up the veggie mix yourself. She was a lean puppy, still is 9 yrs later, & the vet told me that that diet was no good & to include dry puppy kibble to give her the calcium she needed. According to Billinghurst & Lonsdale they get all the calcium they need & in the correct ratio to phosphorus from eating raw meaty bones. For little dogs I would feed chicken wings as well as lamb flaps. They need to get used to eating bones in variety. At this young age they will only chew on the bigger bones getting the meat off. Great exercise for the jaws & growing bones & joints.
  9. Lucy's mama I would hold off on the mince as dancinbcs said & also be careful of too much garlic. A little is ok but it belongs to the onion family & that has a cumulative effect when eaten over a period of time. When I 1st bought Billinghurt's 1st 2 books back in the late 90's he gave the ideas of what to put in the veggie mix yourself using a food processor or better still a juice extractor & to use the pulp. I used to do this for a couple of years & it was very time consuming. The Barf Diet book was published in 2001 & I don't know when he 1st introduced his patties. I think the idea was to feed the appropriate no of patties at one meal & raw meaty bones at the other. The mince mix with crushed bone in it is only meant for young puppies until they can start to eat the raw bones which can be as young as weaning age. That sounds double Dutch but would depend on the size & breed of puppy.
  10. Billinghurst says that the diet should consist of 60% raw meaty bones the rest being offal & veggie mix. On the other hand Tom Lonsdale says that the diet should be predominately rmb with offal once a fortnight & very low fat table scraps & veggie peelings when available. I wouldn't give dogs the large weight baring bones of cows because they are too hard & can break teeth.
  11. At least you have somewhere to go. We were going to go to our sons in Ulladulla but oh has to work on the weekend. But then someone has to be home at night the whole holidays because of my son's dog Sooty. She's terrified of all the fireworks that usually happen every night from just b4 Christmas til just after New Year.
  12. She's very pretty. I can see some shepherd in there.
  13. An excellent web site on everything dog is at www.dogstardaily.com
  14. Most obedience clubs would be closed over the summer. Mine doesn't go back until Feb. Here's a couple of links to clubs on the DogsNsw website. http://www.dogsnsw.org.au/regions-metro-training-clubs http://www.dogsnsw.org.au/region-metro-kennel-dog-training If she's already had a fright with other dogs I wouldn't take her to the dog park just yet, they aren't all they're cracked up to be. Not everyone that goes to them take enough care of their dogs. As you've only had her for a couple of nights, she will need a couple of weeks to settle into her new home & learn all the rules. Good luck with her & would love to see pictures.
