My JS puppy had the runs when I 1st got him & the vet said to fast for a day & then give cooked chicken meat & boiled rice for a few days.

I was stopped a couple of years ago, while crossing the road with my border collie, by 2 guys in a car. The passenger asked my if she was female & then if she was desexed, which she is. He said that was a shame because he had a male border collie at home that he'd like to mate her with because he liked the look of her.

Sounds like my area. Hasn't been a real lot as yet, but Christmas Eve we could see them just outside my loungeroom window. Our 11 y/o dog is so scared of storms & fireworks. We usually get them daylight hours as well as all hours of the night/early morning hours.

I would love to see Ian again, this time so close to home too. But not to be.

Are you serious? Apart from the fact that it means double the time, double the mess, double the commitment, double the costs and double the work (probably even more so when it comes to training), two puppies are very likely to bond more strongly with each other than the handler, that in itself is a major problem. Be glad you waited a year, your 12 month old hasn't even matured yet! True we do have a wonderful bond with Bear which I hope will never be broken. I just felt sorry for him as he had a year of being alone while we were at work. But I'm sure the games and antics they will get up to in the future will make up for it It's not usually a good idea to get 2 pups together, they still need separate time & training with you. Don't be fooled about them being lonely while your at work, they mostly sleep the day away.

Hi Shantiah, It may well be the same product but it is totally different packaging. Troy may own the right to package under their own label. The one I am using is ProDen PlaqueOff Animal.(there is a human one) It is a seaweed product and manufactured in Sweden. Other than that, all I can tell you is that it works. Oh, and the person that bred my Gaby has purchased the large size from overseas after trialing a small jar. What is the exact ingredients on the list, the Troy one only says 'Ascophyllum nodosum'.

Don't let them get to the stones out of stone fruit, I believe the seed in the centre contains arsenic, not to mention the choking hazard of the whole stone.

Where is it available in Aus. please? I won't buy things online, I'm old-school & prefer to buy from a shop.

Has Proban Been Withdrawn From Sale?
luvsdogs replied to dee lee's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I bought a bottle a couple of years ago & never had a reason to use it. It went out of date the end of Nov. I've always been paranoid about taking my dogs to a tick area & at the time it was the only thing the vet recommended I use if needed. It's about time there was something made to help eradicate the pesky creatures or something like there is for heart worm prevention. -
Another thread on worming got me looking at the packet of interceptor Spectrum I bought today for my pup. He was previously on Milbemax which he has had since I've had him, first given by my vet. The last time I bought the Milbemax the vet said when his weight goes up he can then go on to interceptor Spectrum. There's not much difference between the 0.5 to 5kg milbenax & the up to 4kg interceptor but...... Looking at the dosages of milbemycin oxime & praziquantel of the both brands, there is quite a difference between the 4-11kg interceptor, which I bought today, & 5+kg of Milbemax. Milbemax - milbemycin oxime 12.5mg & praziquantel 125mg. interceptor - milbemycin oxime 5.75mg & praziquantel 57mg. I had never given it a thought when I first put my border collie onto interceptor a year or 2 ago, I think I checked with the previous supermarket wormers she was on & they were comparable in ingredients. Just don't know what's going on as both brands are from the same company?

Oh, & I was told on the day that it would be a very good idea if Tilba & I participated in the DWD demos at the Sydney Pet & Animal Expo in February. Said I needed to break the ice. ETA: Anyone else doing the demos?

Maybe you could add in an extra chorus or 2 ness if you can't find anything else suitable. I went to the Dec trial in Sydney on the weekend. Two Canberra dogs got their starter's titles. A Siberian Husky thought to be the 1st one in Aus & an Irish Wolfhound (& yes they did a little bit of weaving), thought to be the 1st in the world. Well done to Taxi & Claude & their handlers. You can see photos from the comp at ffire photography. http://www.ffirephotography.com/23545613

I went to look up when Kel would be next at Erskine Park & there was no mention of BH on her website. Now I know why. Lucky I thought to check in here 1st to see what was going on. It took ages to get a sample from her, maybe this is why. I've gone through the ingredient list for the adult k9 formula & there's no mention of Taurine in the mix. My vet says it's just as important to dogs, to a lesser degree, than cats. Also it includes tomato meal is that the same as tomato pomace?

This one is from a couple of years ago. My new sig pic below is my new pup.

My Border Collie walks to the driveway & onto the grass to toilet & returns the same way rather than go down the back steps straight onto the grass. My Japanese Spitz pup has a strange way of eating. He will dance around the food than take a piece of kibble & run into the loungeroom to eat it. Come back for another piece. He will do this for 2-4 times before he finishes his meal from the bowl.

Excited Dog - When Getting To Obedience Training
luvsdogs replied to izzydog's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Get there early to let her have time to sniff around & use up some of her energy. Good advice from lilmisssascha83 too. -
Congrats to you & Tux. Well done to Meg at least she tried. I was supposed to enter the Dec trial in Sydney but still can't get Tilba motivated & it didn't help that we had a week of rain last week & couldn't practice.

Threatening Behaviour Outsise Dog Park
luvsdogs replied to Double Lab Love's topic in General Dog Discussion
I would definitely notify the police, it would be dreadful if a dog became ill or died if he took out his threat, but what if a young child got hold of a bait? -

Making It Work With Puppies And Babies
luvsdogs replied to ncarter's topic in General Dog Discussion
Not a good idea getting 2 pups at the best of times let alone when having twins. My 1st 2 sons were 2 yrs apart & I was sleep deprived for the 1st year, heck I'm still sleep deprived 31 yrs later. -
You can also download "Before You Get Your Puppy", it takes you through the first weeks with a new puppy. There's also lots of good info in the Training Textbook on the dogstardaily.com website as well. Very cute puppy, can't imagine her causing all that trouble. ;) Just remember she's a baby & in a strange environment & needs time to settle in. My cat used to do the grab ankles thing when she was a kitten, boy did it hurt. The advice on cat forums was to grit your teeth & not react. Very hard to do, so I used to give her a short time out when it got too bad until she calmed down. Took her a year to improve, but dogs are much easier to train. When ever I get a new puppy they spend most of their inside time in "their" room which is the back entry to the house with bed, crate, toys, water & paper towel for toileting accidents. You don't want them having access to the whole house until fully toilet trained.

How To Minimise A Puppy Chewing On An Older Dogs Neck When Playing
luvsdogs replied to Huntia's topic in Puppy Chat
Same thing happening at my place. Japanese Spitz pup jumps up at older Border Collie, has been doing it for months & she won't tell him off. Only good thing here is he only gets a mouthful of hair & doesn't actually bite her neck. -
I taught my border collie to heel without the lead at first by luring with treats. As to chewing on the lead my nearly 5 m/o Japanese Spitz puppy does the same thing, still a work in progress. Maybe try using a favourite toy or tug rope to take his attention off the lead if he won't take the treats? Have you tried Chunkers?
-
Yes it's the seed inside the stone fruit, also I believe that apple seeds contain arsenic & that the seeds have to be chewed to have an effect.

Similar thing happened earlier this year of last year with Kramar's chicken jerky, they soon recalled it.
