There seems to be a few outlets selling BH in Vic, are there any in the Sydney area?

My cat had to go on protexin for a stomach upset once. My vet charges $6 per postage stamp sized sachet. The next time she got ill I thought of giving her innerhealth plus & wasn't sure how much so only gave about 1/3 capsule. Later found out by reading both ingredient lists that the protexin has a lot more of the good bacteria than innerhealth plus as well as other additives. So I think no harm in giving the innerhealth plus.

Hi luvsdogs, I do not think the spectator info is up yet, but check the website for information. The website is listed on the first posting on this topic, so just go back to Vickie's first post on page one. Cheers, Thanks Le I will. Another question, can you go into the grounds of the equestrian centre at any time or are there locked gates?

Did you look at the link I posted on Friday? here it is again. http://www.google.com.au/search?q=fashions+of+WWII&hl=en&prmd=imvns&source=lnms&tbm=isch&ei=2wkQT_PpM6-QiQfrufkN&sa=X&oi=mode_link&ct=mode&cd=2&ved=0CC From watching lots of old movies made during WWll & pictures of my mum at that time, the woman wore knee length skirts & suits due to the scarcity of materials. A lot of them worked on the farms & in industry due to the men being overseas where they wore slacks & overalls. When they went to dances & balls they wore long dresses. Get a hold of the movies "Pearl Harbour" & "Paradise Road" to give you some ideas.

I think it's just normal dog eating. My dogs vacuum a portion of their kibble, especially when another dog is nearby, & chew some. I bought a go slow bowl for my border collie because she always burps after eating her food. She still occasionally burps but nothing like she used to. You could try hand feeding but this could be a problem if he is fussy & won't always eat.

I've heard it all before from Billinghurst to Lonsdale & have all their books. I guess in an ideal world it would be beneficial to have the dogs on a totally raw diet, but I would want to use human grade meat & that can get expensive these days. I believe that raw meaty bones are the best to keep their teeth clean, April was testament to that as in her later years she couldn't have anything with wheat in it (it made her incontinent) so she virtually lived on raw chicken & some lamb, which improved her teeth. It wasn't until I discovered a couple of kibbles with oats instead of wheat that she was able to have some kibble meals. Then there was the article in Urban Animal a number of years ago on dog treats that made me more cautious with what treats I give my dogs. http://urbananimal.net.au/pdf/issue19/5_cuisine1.pdf http://urbananimal.net.au/pdf/issue19/5_cuisine2a.pdf http://urbananimal.net.au/pdf/issue19/6_cuisine3.pdf

I've never thought about it before. After all when you switch them over from one kibble to another you are told to do it gradually, mixing the old with the new. I sometimes mix kibbles for the dogs & cat. As long as the analysis of the formula of proteins, fats, calcium etc are similar I don't see a problem.

This story was linked by one of my facebook friends, well worth a read. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1315145/Is-pet-food-poisoning-dogs.html

Oh, what have I done? I agreed to go in the demos at the Pet Expo in Feb. I just hope Tilba behaves herself.

regarding Kenz, it is bad enough when we have upset tummies, let alone our furkids. Happy to hear though that she is perkier tonight. Thanks for your suggestion Ness, will give it a go over the coming week so that I start putting a routine together as time is ticking away too fast for the March comp, Now to those who might of been around in the war years, did any women wear pants? I am looking into the period for one of the songs that I plan to do. thanking you all in advance for any suggestions that you might have I'm assuming you mean WWII? The Pacific is replaying at the moment, can't remember which night though. Sorry to hear Kenz is unwell following her procedure. Have you tried giving her plain boiled pumpkin it worked last time Sooty had the runs. Let them be disappointed, rather than Kenz to risk further injury. After all you've both been through so far it's best to be safe than sorry.

I hope to go as a spectator only. I've been going to the agility at the Sydney Royal every year since it's been at Homebush & I love to watch it. I tried agility years ago with my 1st BC but due to her re-activity & my ineptness at following the course I gave it away. What are the details for spectators such as parking & how much to attend? Or when will they be available?

That was appalling. Definitely complain, the owner of the practice needs to know what dangerous idiots are running his PPS. I've taken my last 2 puppies to a friend's puppy classes which she runs at 2 vet practices. She's not a vet nurse but a CertIV Delta Society accredited dog trainer. Positive dog training was explained & after showing each exercise the puppies had a turn one at a time. From week 2 only 2 pups at a time were allowed off lead to explore the room & each other if they wished. She would asses which pups to let off together. The usual things were discussed like feeding, suitable toys, worming & vaccinations. Maybe give Jean's puppy pre-school a try. http://www.jeanspuppypreschool.com.au/54966/html/page.html

Many years ago now, back in the mid to late 90's my SIL's daughter bought her what my SIL called a tea cup poodle from a pet shop. At that time I hadn't heard that term before & she told me it would be a tiny dog, which it wasn't really I've seen smaller toy poodles. She told me before I saw him that he was champagne coloured but on seeing him he was always a dirty white. His tail had been cut much shorter than a poodles used to be, more rottie length & always had a hunched appearance. He did live a long life, only dying last year at 16/17 yrs old. I can remember 10+ yrs ago at the Sydney Royal someone asking a poodle breeder about a teacup poodle. My ears pricked, pardon the pun, to hear what the answer would be because I had only read that there was no such thing. Of course the poodle breeder told the person that a teacup poodle did not exist & the reasons why. Since then there has emerged many teacup breeds. My Japanese Spitz puppy was 1.2kg when I 1st got him & to me he was very tiny, being used to border collie pups. He's now 6mths old & about 4.5 kg, still a small dog.

There was a new member on early last year that bought a blue stafford because she liked the look of them. It turned out that it had skin problems & she sent it back to the breeder after much thought. She paid $2,500 for it. At the time DOL had many, many breeders selling the rare blue stafford. Tell your family member to be very wary. A member of my obedience club got both her staffords from a breeder in Eden, far south coast of NSW. Don't know any more than that as she no longer goes to training.

My dogs don't go much on rubber chew toys/bones. Much prefer the harder nylon type bones which are hard to find atm. The pet warehouse I go to didn't have any of the nylabone bones & when I asked why I was told that they had gone up $15 & they wouldn't be getting them anymore.

It is advisable to feed raw & kibble at different meals as they digest at different rates.

I always used to use heartguard on my 1st border collie until I heard that collies can have a reaction to it so switched to Proheart & she had them until she died. When I got my present bc she came with a free sample of heartguard plus. I was a bit reluctant to use it but did. I then also found out through the dol forum that Proheart was also not recommended for collies so now use interceptor which does everything. I asked the vet recently after getting my Japanese Spitz puppy about doubling up with the allwormer component of interceptor as it has the same dosage as 3 monthly allwormers. She told me that allwormers only kill worms present in the dog & don't last, so ok to use monthly. I would never use the yearly injection after reading a couple of years ago on another forum that a lot of American dogs were dying or becoming very sick on their 6 monthly heartworm injection which was recalled & taken off the market att. It was later re-instated for use. From what I've read the Proheart injection is a massive dose of ingredients which wane over time. So in my mind much better to give monthly.

If You Were Choosing A Breed On Looks Alone...
luvsdogs replied to aussielover's topic in General Dog Discussion
You beat me to it benshiva. Except for the Whippet. Border Collie Papillon Golden Retriever Border Terrier Japanese Spitz, 6 m/o puppy has grown on me. Originally wouldn't have thought of because of colour. -
I have never used any such products but I've heard of something on the forums, can't remember what it is though. I have a 6mth old on Sunday, Japanese Spitz puppy who went rather bald a few weeks ago but his junior coat has started to come in very thickly. ETA: found it, royal jelly shampoo &/or supplements from health store.

I tried emailing Troy today & got an error message. I just wanted to know where the Troy product was available. There's no mention on their website of distribution.
