  1. She's adorable, especially in the last photo. Sleeping shots are one of my favourite ways of taking pics, hint. My son wants a b/t kelpie one day.
  2. I agree wholeheartedly. Amazing that everyone has accepted him so well. My cat Blossom who looks remarkably like your Indi would be very wary & hiss & spit at him. She's such a bitch. :D
  3. Poor little fellow, I feel so sorry for you both. My dogs have had itching but it's usually flea related & easily fixed in comparison to your pup. I hope that the dermatologist can give you with a solution.
  4. When I got my 1st Border Collie pup back in '93 she was only 6 w/o & was on 4 meals per day, but one of those were a puppy milk feed. 15 yrs later when I got my current BC at 12 w/o she was on 3 meals per day as was my Japanese Spitz pup at 8 weeks. If you watch him with a raw meaty bone & he spends time tearing & chewing on it he should be fine. The 1st time I gave my JS pup a raw chicken wing it took him 3.5 hours to get through it & being white he looked like he'd killed the chicken.
  5. My dogs all have their own spots in the house to sleep at night. My Border Collie sleeps in her "room", I let her sleep in my room a year & a half ago when oh was in hospital & she slept on her bed in our room for about a year after that but has recently gone back to her "room" because she was disturbing our sleep with her noises. My Japanese Spitz pup sleeps in a puppy pen in his crate in the loungeroom & sleeps all night. They do tend to bark at people/school kids going past that like to stop in our driveway & stare at them, this annoys me no end so I bring them inside.
  6. http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/ashleigh-and-pudsey-winners-of-britains-got-talent-830251 Is there a youtube link yet? I can't find it.
  7. Glad to hear he arrived safely & that your mum is in love. It's not hard to spoil a puppy & give the smaller ones so much more leeway. We'd only had med - big dogs since 1984 & I have forgiven Panda so much more just because he was so small when we got him.
  8. He's gorgeous, I rather like the Hav. Did some research on them before getting Tilba. He must be at your mums by now, how is he? & what did she think of him?
  9. Any word yet on when spectators can go & watch?
  10. Hi I think there was a typo in one of the schedules published in which Rally O Novice A & B were offered. There is no A & B in Rally O Novice in Australia but I believe the Club in question is holding 3 Obedience & 3 Rally O Trials over the weekend so plenty of opportunities to achieve some qualifying scores. And I would think agility's the same in that you need 3 passes under 2 different judges. Also don't forget to practice the stays, in a trial there's a 3 dog minimum. When CCD was 1st offered, my club's chief instructor didn't think it was the thing to do, to put a new dog through CCD when you were an experienced trialer with many years experience, & just go straight to Novice. She was surprised to see some of those experienced trialers do just that & do CCD first.
  11. My JS pup damaged the nail on his outside front toe. I bathed it & while I was drying it I noticed it was literally hanging by a thread so I pulled it off. I took him to the vet the next day & he was given antibiotics for 10 days. I had to wrap it up every time he went outside to the toilet to prevent dirt getting inside the toe. After 2 weeks the new nail was visible. Vet said it would take 6 months to fully grow back.
  12. For those worried about feeding bones e.g. germs etc read the list of myths about feeding raw bones. http://rawfed.com/myths/ My 1st border collie, in her later years, couldn't eat anything with wheat in it so the last few years of her life she lived on raw chicken wings, legs & the occasional lamb neck. Her teeth went from the vet saying she needed a clean to not needing a clean on the next vet visit.
  13. That's terrible news, poor little Angus. RIP puppies.
  14. Well done everyone on your wins. Michelle's Wei Cooper got his final pass for Intermediate DWD yesterday in Sydney. I believe at 12 yrs old he will now retire. There were others who qualified but as I didn't mark the catalogue I can't remember who they are, sorry.
  15. And they are the ones that should be looked at. I have never bred pups or kittens & as a responsible pet owner that does get her pets desexed I don't want to be told when I have to have it done. I want my dogs to mature before getting them done. IMO I don't think you are going to stop people that just don't care & won't get their animals desexed.
  16. That's what I was thinking, & part of his coat looks clipped off. He has such a beautiful, happy face. Thank you for rescuing him & welcome to DOL.
  17. My puppy used to eat some of his poo. If I caught him at it I'd say uh, uh & he'd stop. The only thing you can do is to pick up as soon as he goes & like mine he should grow out of it.
  18. It certainly does, so once again the responsible dog owners cop it because of the lazy bastard dog owners. I saw a girl let her dog crap and move on when driving the other day and I blew a fuse. Did a u-turn and told her to go back and pick it up. She tried to use the excuse that she forgot to bring bags and I called her on that because she had just come out of the dog park where there is a roll of free dog poo bags available to the park users. Some people are just too damn lazy or too precious to carry dog shit in a plastic bag when out walking. Makes me wonder how many land mines they have in their own backyard. That's exactly it. It's becoming harder & harder to have dogs all because of irresponsible owners. They probably don't have any because they always let their dogs do it while out walking. I was once in my local park & across the playing fields a man was standing with his back to his dog while he pooed pretending nothing was happening. Of course he walked off leaving it there. My obedience club trains at a private schools sports field. One time, many years ago now, one of our member's dogs did what he had to & the member picked it up in a plastic bag. One of the mother's of the soccer players said 'Ooooo'. One of the main conditions of us using the grounds is picking up after our dogs & new members are told when they come for the 1st time. Doesn't seem to apply to the students, you should see what they leave behind after a game. I don't know about other states but in NSW there are heavy fines for not picking up after your dog. Pity these people don't get caught. A dog walker near my cousin's house used to always let her dog defecate on my cousin's footpath or garden. He got sick of having to pick it up, so knowing where she lived, he put a parcel in her letter box. She never lets her dog go there anymore. :)
  19. IMO both. I talk baby talk to my pets. I have different phrases for each of them. When training certain commands you need a more normal voice.
  20. It's over 4 years since April passed. I can't remember if it was before or after I got Tilba but I used to get flashes of April walking past me. As Tilba got older she used to make little noises that April used to make & I'd call her April. That stopped after a while but in the early months of this year I started calling Tilba 'April' again, I don't know why but it really has me wondering.
  21. I stayed there many years ago without dogs, didn't know they accepted them. Usually in caravan parks they dogs aren't allowed in the cabins & must either stay in the car on the verandah of the cabin.
  22. It took my 1st Border Collie at 7.5 yrs 4 days to acknowledge my son's baby pup. After that she'd play with her. There must have been a few scraps because the pup had a few bald spots at times. After that they became the best of friends & used to play tug a lot. Can't remember how long it took son's dog at 7.5 to accept my 2nd BC but they eventually became friends. My BC at 4.5 took a lot longer to play with my Japanese Spitz pup. Even though the JS loved tugging on BC's tail she wouldn't tell him off & 7 mths on he still loves to tug on her, she does now play with him though. We have had to watch son's now 11 y/o dog with the pup because she's always been a resource guarder & the pup soon learnt to stay away from her & she doesn't interact with him much.
  23. Yep, that's what did it for me. I hope she found a lovely home.
