  1. Posted this in the Spitz sub-thread on Monday: "Panda went to his 1st DWD workshop yesterday. I was really pleased with him, hardly any barking & he did some of the simpler exercises well, when I didn't really think he would. I was even told by the presenter that he was a smart little dog. :D " I was also asked if I had my music with me, saying no didn't bring Tilba's disk. She meant for Panda, so as it was his 1st workshop, I hadn't given it a thought until then. So I need some thoughts on music for K9 freestyle. Something simple & light I'm thinking. I don't think he's ready for HTM as I haven't taught him to heel, or even where heel is. ETA: Also, who here works with difficult breeds? I've said often when asked what it's like to train a Spitz, he's no Border Collie.
  2. Yeh, give Ness another go. She's sure to qually. Well done Tassie on all your passes. It sure beats mine & Tilba's terrible effort.
  3. My little JS was fine travelling in the car until about early December at 5 months old. Then just before Christmas I took him to the vets to get weighed b4 getting his next lot of worm pills. When we got there, about 5 mins in the car, he was all wet down the front & clear drool hanging off his chin. The vet nurse mentioned I try DAP. The only thing that was different was we have a hatch back & the dogs always travel in their crates with the back seats down flat. This time the seats were upright & I put his crate in the "boot". Every trip in the car from then on he has drooled. I got the DAP spray, didn't work. I then gave him bach flower essences, didn't work. At the agility nationals I bought him a thunder shirt, didn't work. I used a mix of all 3 or 2 of the above, didn't work. I used to just wipe him dry but now he wears a bib. My next step is to try the desensitisation mentioned earlier in this thread. Will be interested to hear how the calming cap goes GoldenGirl85. It's very disappointing when before all this happened we took him on a couple of trips from Sydney to the Central Coast with no bother. We take our dogs with us a lot & now I weigh up whether to take Panda or leave him at home.
  4. Have you tried him on a raw diet? has he had raw meaty bones & does he tolerate them?
  5. Alongside Lassie, Rin Tin Tin was my favourite as a child. There was also the Littlest Hobo.
  6. Any news yet Owey on Bailey's test results? He's just so cute, I love the dark ones.
  7. Went to the DWD workshop at EP today. What a disaster, Tilba was up to her old tricks & makes it impossible for us to participate fully. There are some wonderful new routines in the works.
  8. Lets hope they don't co-en-side with the Border Collie Nationals in Melbourne in 2014.
  9. Me too. I used to only worry about them getting on the dogs until Today Tonight did the stories on lyme disease. My son lives in Ulladulla on the south coast of NSW & his dog had a tick early August last year while it was still very much cold. My granddaughter has also been covered in baby ticks I too wish there was a more effective control method to eradicate them from the environment or control like with heart worm.
  10. May very well have seen her ness, there were a lot of borders. :)
  11. I went out today for a few hours to watch. I saw excellent or masters jumping. They started around 11.30 in ring 1. Who would I have seen? After that was Novice jumping. Good luck for the next 3 days & those lucky to make the finals on Sunday.
  12. I hope to get out there on Thursday to watch. Is it easy to find & hows the parking? I meant to go out & have a look ages ago but the times just flown. On the schedule what do the numbers mean? 2-300, 500 etc?
  13. When do they start? & when can the general public come & watch?
  14. That's what I was thinking. I rather like BT's. Thought of getting one before getting my 2nd Border Collie.
  15. Thats a lousey price. The last lot I got was round the $50 for 180g delivered. Better than the $34.95 I've been paying. And they have direct bank deposit too!
  16. Scavenger hunt. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&NR=1&v=ncwdkGnNMKw There are also DWD dance moves on hsinyicohen's site, have a browse around her videos. She has Honey the Great Dane & works with her in some small spaces.
  17. I did make a tartan lined coat & a rain coat for April many years ago. She only wore each one about twice. I have't bothered with Tilba & Panda my JS definitely doesn't need a coat, he wears his own. My son's short coated cross breed dog loves to wear her coat on a cold day.
  18. Tilba knows that method well.
  19. Yes it's the tiniest scoop. Reminds me of my great aunt's salt spoon from many decades ago, lol.
  20. I don't trust buying things on the net so am happy to buy from Aus for $35 for a 40gm pot. As my dogs only small & has 1/2 a scoop per day I'm expecting it to last a long time.
  21. Way back in the day my parents used to buy horse meat for the dog they had when I was a child.
  22. When my son brought home his pup Sooty, in 2000, April was 7.5 y/o. She wasn't too keen on a little pup following her around whenever Sooty saw her. Four days on they became the best of friends, Sooty adored April & they used to play all the time until April got too old. When I got Tilba Sooty was 7.5 y/o. They are friends but didn't play as much as with April. I wanted another dog for Tilba to play with as Sooty became arthritic & didn't want to play too much. Tilba was 3.5 y/i when we got Panda & although there's a size difference Panda just adores playing or should I say annoying Tilba & she lets him do it.
  23. How far post op is she. My JS pup had to have one tooth out & I was told to not give raw bones etc for at least 6-8 weeks. There's the worry of jaw fracture without the teeth roots which form a large part of the jaw.
  24. Lots of info on this site if you haven't already found it. http://www.rawmeatybones.com/
  25. Any word on what you decided to do? Did you contact the breeder?
