Yes not what you'd let your dogs do to your baby but they did seem to be tolerant of the baby. Unlike some other videos I've seen of babies with dogs that were giving off so many warning signals to be left alone & the parents thought it funny.

I've been using Interceptor Spectrum for a number of years now because of my BC. The only concerns I have was that when you compare the ingredients with a regular 3 monthly wormer they are the same. I asked the vet about this & she said that a wormer only works on the worms present & isn't a preventative so was ok to use monthly. I still have my doubts. As for the yearly injection for heartworm, I wouldn't use it. I've heard too many bad stories about it.

And I fed my dogs a mix of both years ago before I knew of this without any problems.

Blackhawk, Artemis Or Holistic Select
luvsdogs replied to fluff1234's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I won't buy Pro Plan because the 3rd ingredient is corn. Although years ago when they 1st introduced their sensitive dry with oats instead of wheat my Border Collie at the time was incontinent whenever she ate wheat. I was introduced to this food & she didn't have any more incontinence. My current dogs are mostly raw meaty bone fed especially my JS to try & keep his teeth in reasonable condition. As an extra for my BC I feed Nature's Gift I think it is from Woolies. There's also an equivalent one in Coles. The only thing is they have beet pulp which I also don't like. -
11 Week Old Boxer Puppy Admitted To Hospital

Sending healthy vibes to Bailey & hope she's soon able to walk & run around like a puppy should. -
I have heard of this too. Some say to feed a kibble meal separate to a raw meal eg. kibble for breakfast & raw for dinner. Others say it doesn't matter it just depends on who you believe. My dogs have mostly raw, my BC gets kibble every other day while the JS is totally raw, that is if someone else in the family don't give in to him & give him the odd treat.

Dancing With Dogs Freestyle & Heelwork To Music
luvsdogs replied to kallistar's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Is that at Erskine Park, aka Orchard Hills lol? Except for going to the Dogs NSW open day I haven't been to anything DWD related this year due to ill health. I'm contemplating going with a friend to have a look see. :) -
That is so terribly sad. RIP little Smudge.

Any word yet on the RSPCA dog?

I have found with my border collies as with my own hair, if I wash them too often they get that doggy smell sooner than if they are left for longer.

I feel the same way raineth, couldn't imagine my life without dogs. I feel sorry for people, especially those with children, that don't know the love & enjoyment that dogs & indeed any pets bring.

I was just about to make a thread on this very subject with a link of them playing with the polar bears... http://www.canadianeskimodogfoundation.ca/ Yes it did seem cruel keeping them chained but as was said not all the townspeople of Churchill liked them living nearby. Also the males would fight for the alpha position. They are not a dog to be kept inside because of their thick coats & any that do have access to homes find it much too hot. If he was able to have help sledding them he would. He said people come to Churchill for the polar bear experience & don't give the dogs a second look. He also said that they are on the brink of extinction just as the polar bears are.

This was more or less how I started teaching it to Tilba. The leg raises were more from her mirroring my leg lifts. She only does it from a sit. Working on her standing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODQvGKMyNcc

Dog Playing Fetch With Itself - So Damn Cute
luvsdogs replied to HollyMilo's topic in General Dog Discussion
That is just so so adorable. Such a smart little cookie. -
My feelings exactly. I have a cousin that was terrified of dogs as a child. Whenever she came to visit us she'd cry lock up the dog. Mum would say no he won't hurt you & he never did. Even if she saw a dog at 1 or 2 bus stops away she'd start screaming. Was very surprised when she left home to teach that she had a house dog that was very spoilt. I met up with her years later at our mutual obedience club to do agility when she had her 1st Lab. She said she's still wary of strange dogs but is ok with dogs she knows.

I've shared too. Years ago now when I was a kid our little dog went missing from our holiday home. Mum found him tucked up in the corner of the built in robe, he never made a sound even though we had called & called him. Then about 15 years ago MIL was staying & slept in son's bed. The next morning she said she heard strange noises through the night & asked if cat could be under the bed. It had drawers & they were closed, so I said no. I had closed it the day before & when I checked the cat was asleep on the contents.

Which Food Rewards To Use?
luvsdogs replied to BrigadoonRose's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
My obedience club uses chunkers. They are like little meat balls & are easily divided into even smaller pieces. You can use chopped up devon, chicken roll, cheese if you don't mind spending the time chopping them up. I sometimes use Nature's Own cat treats which I divide into 1/2. You can dry your own meats thinly sliced such as liver, chicken or beef by placing in a slow oven or even freeze dry. Bit fiddly but if you have the time, good if you don't want your dog to have junk food & you know what's in it. -
Couldn't agree more mita. Was asked if I could use an ipad, swiping etc, nope never used one. But 2 1/2 year old can.

This is what I tried to convey to the father, but he would have none of it. Said they were too young & on the other hand they were very intelligent for their age.
