This Is My Cute Little New Puppy, Georgea
Tintin Jac replied to Bow Wow's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Things happen for a reason. You were destined to have this pup. I'm glad for you both that she is healthy and doing well. Best of luck with her - you deserve it! -
I would like to ask a question on behalf of a friend of mine. She has been researching for a while now and her family have decided to get a toy poodle puppy. The first breeder she contacted had male and female pups for different prices. She is looking for a dog that will be purely a pet - not for showing or breeding. Does anyone know if different pricing is normal? It seemed a bit odd but it may well be quite common.

Thank you. Will do that.

Oops - double post.

Good info - thanks. A friend of mine has been researching for quite a while now and would like to get a toy poodle puppy. The first breeder she contacted has pups at different prices for male or female. She wants a dog purely as a pet, not showing or breeding. She isn't even really fussed on the sex of the dog, happy to be guided by breeder. Is it normal practice to have different pricing for different sexes? It really can be very difficult knowing where to turn as a first time purebreed puppy buyer.

This may have been answered somewhere before but I can't find it. Then again, it's a pretty daft question so maybe no one has been silly enough yet.... I know that you shouldn't feed cooked bones to dogs because of splintering but what about frozen bones? Are they likely to splinter? I have been feeding frozen bones to the boys and they don't seem to mind one bit but a friend said that it was dangerous. Now I'll just ;)

What a beautiful post :D It sounds like you were meant to be together for the last few years of his life. Sorry for your loss.

Our puppy was pretty much toilet trained when we got him. I think that it was because the breeder had put the effort in. And, of course, he's a very clever little man! It makes things easier, that's for sure

Kennel Cough Vaccination Booster
Tintin Jac replied to Tintin Jac's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thank you. I am not very experienced but thought that it didn't sound OK. Will chat to the vet about it. Am wanting to titre test from now where appropriate. My first impression is that they aren't too keen on that plan. -
I have looked and I am sure the answer is here already but for the life of me, I just can't find it. My puppy is seven months old and is being desexed today. The vet surgery called and asked me if I wanted them to give him his booster for kennel cough. I had been told that he was up to date with his vaccinations and the booster wasn't mentioned on his vac'n card. I am told that he should have had a booster after his 12 week shot. Wondering if there are any opinions re this? Also, would it be quite safe to give on the same day as a GA? Thanks.

Try teaching it just as a stand alone command, not only when your dog nicks off with something. Does the dog think the food is a bribe or a reward? I think it should be seen as a reward. Others will know more about this.

I haven't got a lot of experience - but I do have a puppy so have gone through this too recently. Like your pup, ours got very excited at the thought of a game of chasey through the house. I have been teaching our puppy to "leave" and to "give". Now, when he nicks something and I notice, I will ask him to "leave" it. If he is within reach, I will ask him to "give" it. I was very surprised how quickly he learnt to do this. He gets heaps of praise and a treat whenever he does leave or give. At first, I thought he was maybe doing it deliberately, because he knew that he would get something good if he took something then left it. And I think he probably was a bit, but he doesn't seem to do that now. We have two small children who can't be trained so easily to pick up their toys. It was far easier to teach the dog!!

Sick Puppy Following Vaccination

I'm sorry I am not able to help but I hope that your pup is OK. ;) -
There's his trademark tongue again! Is that a cocker trait or is Barkly just special? Those two make ideal candidates for word cloud thingys (what are they called??). They are so expressive.

Groomer In Mornington Peninsula, Vic
Tintin Jac replied to Tintin Jac's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thanks so much Dyzney :p We had a very nasty experience when I turned up to a groomer a couple of weeks ago. I actually walked away because she was so awful. Glenda was the complete opposite! We went there today and she was just lovely. Tintin looks amazing and is so happy with his new do. I think he was very spoilt by Glenda  I really appreciate your recommendation and would highly recommend Glenda ;) Going to a groomer for the first time can be a bit daunting as I am only learning but today was a great experience. -

Thanks NicoleL. I did get your message. I may get in touch with you but was hoping someone would be able to recommend a groomer they use. I know that I am sounding very pedantic (and I probably am ). If any of your clients would be happy to refer you, please let me know. Thanks -
Sorry, not able to help with advice. But can't wait to see the results!! Sounds like you have some fun ahead of you - GOOD LUCK
