Puppy Culture Rotti Puppies - Photos & Vids Galore
Tintin Jac replied to Starkehre's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh my gawwwwwd!!!!! Look what happens when I disappear from DOL for months Starkehre, your new puppy family is just divine. I remember meeting Seven when she was a little (well, little in Rotty world) pup. You were rightly chuffed with her and were excited about her being a mum one day. And what an absolutely amazing start to life you have given to her beautiful pupsl. You truly are an amazing person who is so obviously passionate about your beautiful dogs and your responsibility as a breeder. If you need any strangers popping in...I would be more than happy to help out...if I haven't missed the boat already. I hope you have a relaxing, peaceful holiday coming up soon! It has been so long since I have been here that I didn't know about Dyzney. I am so sorry. She was a DOL favourite and I know how much she meant to you -
Purebred Versions Of "designer Breeds"
Tintin Jac replied to BlaznHotAussies's topic in General Dog Discussion
I agree with the discussion re traits. If you want something similar in nature to a lab x poodle,a Lagotto wouldn't fit the bill. They often look similar but a LR is very different to most labs. megan_ you need to meet our LR - he is a human and dog lover! It was this site, actually, that led to us getting a LR. I came here looking for a x breed and found this site to be so helpful and informative. I quickly realised that I needed to really look at what we were looking for in a dog and which breeds may or may not suit. We are so happy to have found our beautiful boy. -
Yay Pudding Now don't go munching on any more hideous delicacies or DOL will come after you

What an awful experience! I hope they all continue to improve. You poor thing...please don't beat yourself up about it.

Thornit used to be available from Whelping Supplies (Sway) in Australia. Tintin got a few bouts of ear problems (yeast infection from memory). Thornit was recommended on a Lagotto fb page. I'm not sure how it works but it has been great for him. I still have my original bottle and use it rarely now. If anyone nearby (Morn Pen, Vic) would like to try before buying, you are welcome to have some of mine. ETA I, too, have been told that it deals with mites...the vet said Tintin didn't have mites or any evidence of them but the thorny worked. Maybe just a little magic

Keep trying

Thanks T. Yes, I miss MUP. I really don't know about all her work but she seemed to always be working hard for the animals. -

Puppy Playdate In Hornsby, Nsw
Tintin Jac replied to LuccatheLagotto's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yay! More Lagotto families :D Lagotto's love lagotto's. We've got a 6yo and currently puppy sitting a 5mth old. They get along so well. Hector the cs has no idea how to 'play Lagotto'! I'm in Vic LuccatheLagotto so can't help with play dates ourselves. If you shoot me a PM, I might be able to help though. -
Anyone Ever Ordered From Whelpingsupplies.com.au?
Tintin Jac replied to fuzzy82's topic in General Dog Discussion
I too have purchased from them and found them to be prompt and efficient. Now that you know of several people who have had positive dealings with them, I think you just need to get in contact when they are back on board after their break. I am sure there must be a reason your order hasn't arrived. -
I recently cancelled our three Petplan policies. One policy had a HUGE rate increase. I was unsuccesful in trying to contact them to discuss the rise. I figured that the rise was bad enough but not being able to get in contact with them was almost worse. It made me question what would happen if I ever needed to make a claim or contact them for anything else. In my experience, they have been appalling. I opened up a bank account and transfer money to it each month.

Thought I Would Introduce Our New Man
Tintin Jac replied to Rascalmyshadow's topic in General Dog Discussion
Enjoy puppydom RMS. As you know, it can be hard work but having a puppy around has a tendency to put a smile on your dial! We had a young puppy stay with us for a week a couple of weeks ago. Am now feeling very puppy maternal. I hope you and Hugo enjoy puppy school at Sit Happens. The staff are lovely and really know what they are doing. -
Proof please...pics are required! Welcome to the wonderful world of Lagotto's :) Ours is nearly 6yo but we just had a LR puppy stay with us for a week and she was such fun to have around. They are such super fast learners. I agree with what raineth has mentioned - lots of short grooming practice sessions is a great idea. Also have a look at the pinned threads in the Puppy Problems forum. There is some fantastic advice in there. Have lots of fun with Lucca :D

Sit Happens in Mornington is great. I've been to both Paw Behaviour and Sit Happens. Their training methods are very similar if that helps :)

The Solar Snake Repeller Scam (ripoff)
Tintin Jac replied to snake catcher's topic in General Dog Discussion
Hazy, there was a snake found in the grounds of my children's school last week in Moorooduc. It's rural there so more suited to snakes to where you are going but they're still around. Apparently it was a copperhead. I'm not that up on snake varieties bit I hadn't heard of them around here before. I'm with you, Sheena about guinea fowl. Their whole day revolves around making a hullabaloo! Pretty but soooooo noisy -
Hi All - Searching For Another Family Member!
Tintin Jac replied to Mercedes's topic in General Dog Discussion
To be honest, I didn't read the whole article. It was not along my way of thinking. Hector is from Elspan. Personally, I would highly recommend them. There are quite a few Elspan puppy families on DOL. Belinda was really great to deal with and is totally, totally in love with her dogs and the breed in general. She attends a lot of shows so you would be likely to see her and/or her dogs if you attended a show with cockers. -
Same. My new premium increase was much much higher for our lagotto than our cocker. I tried emailing and calling several times and got sick of waiting on hold so I emailed to cancel the policies. I really had no other choice as they were not willing or able to speak to me. Really pathetic customer service. Lagotto's aren't on the is select breed list though. Maybe Petplan think they're a mixed breed...who knows as they don't want to talk

Hi All - Searching For Another Family Member!
Tintin Jac replied to Mercedes's topic in General Dog Discussion
Have you read their article titled "pet breeder and proud of it"? In case you are still considering a cocker...here is a little information about our beautiful blue roan boy. Hector is just gorgeous. I don't know too many other cockers but his nature would be ideal for you. He is such a happy dude. He gravitates towards children and just adores them. I had expected some shedding but haven't noticed any at all. I'm not sure if that's normal. Our other dog is a lagotto but his curly coat would probably not be something you're keen on. He, also, is great with children. You know that we are all going to be watching as you decide and choose your puppy now :) -
Just rang pet insurance australia and just had confirmed that pet insurance doesn't work like humans and roll over. If I am to take out a new policy with a new company all previous conditions will not be covered. I think you will find that Petplan are still the only pet insurance provider in Australia that will continue to cover a condition after renewal. All the others consider any condition treated in the previous year a pre existing condition at renewal. So, if you suspect you pet may need ongoing care for something, they are the best to be with. They just have appalling customer service and ridiculous increases in policy pricing which was unsustainable for us.
-
I can't help but I feel your pain! We have had our three pets insured with Petplan until yesterday. I got the renewal info a couple of weeks ago. Two of the policies went up less than $15/mth but Tintin's went up by $30.83/mth! I haven't made a single claim on any of the policies. I wanted to speak to discuss the increases with them and ask them to explain why one has increased significantly more than the others. l I tried contacting them by both phone and email several times. You are more patient than me...the longest I waited on hold was 23 minutes. So I sent them an email saying that I had tried to contact them several times blah blah blah and, as I can't find anyone to talk to and I don't understand their pricing, I wish to cancel all three policies. I received an email within a couple of hours saying that my request to cancel had been forwarded to the relevant department and would be processed and backdated to my date of request. They obviously couldn't give two hoots because they still didn't bother discussing it with me. That's a loss of $1986.03 each year to them and a saving to me. Very lazy business practice.

Oh gosh, they didn't shy away from the cause of her passing. Although I knew she had taken her life, that was quite confronting You just never know what is behind the smile. How dreadfully sad that she couldn't find a way through the darkness.
-
How terribly sad for all who knew her. I was reading her thoughtful, insightful posts on fb just last night Her and Jonesy were inspiring to watch.
