So do I!! I cringe whenever I hear of it, being that I was working at the facility which bred the first ones... all those years ago..and was looking after them.. and thinking how terrific a job we were doing I thought they were being produced by the Guide Dogs? Who now call the breed that they developed "Australian Service Dogs"? Don't quote me on that. Thats true. They were mainly bred to be service dogs and alot of them have been trained to do just that. In the USA there is an organisation that gets the dogs from the founder and trains them and places them in homes where they are needed to help out the disabled.

Thats not the issue here.

He's only 6 years old, and yes it might be a be a better option for him to stay at my parents but that means I wont get to see him as much

My housemates have an entire male staffy x pug who is abit in your face and likes to hump things, her brother who brings his dog over when we go to the beach is also jumpy and in your face but he's an entire Lab. Now my boy doesnt like dogs in his face and because of his arthrtis also doesnt like to be jumped on and isnt shy about letting other dogs know. Toby lives at my parents house and I miss him so much and he gets left out when we go out and everyone takes there dogs so I thought I would bite the bullet and introduce everyone. I know once he gets to know the other dogs he will be fine but it's just the first stage. I was thinking about introduceing Toby and the smaller dog first. The smaller dog has met CJ before and he woudlnt stop humping her This is more so Toby can come live with me, what would be the best way to do this?

Trialling Males Or Females?.
whitka replied to Longcoat's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I have trained and trailed Toby my desexed male ( done at 6months ) and while he is a sooky boy he is very stubborn and if he deosnt want to do something good luck trying to convince him otherwise. When he was in the mood he could do good job but he would tire quickly. CJ my desexed girl ( done at 6 months ) is full of engery and just wants to please and has been a breeze to train. She has been more easy to work with then my boy, she also loves her cuddles. Dont know why but I have always preferred the boys. -

whitka replied to whitka's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Come on Ness lets see that list Im ready for it -
Just curious as to what others have in there training book/dvd collection. For me it's not big at all but I plan to expand Crate games and a book called The only dog training book you will ever need as well as a couple of trick books.

At the moment with CJ im working on a new trick, teaching her how to fetch a drink from the fridge. Just starting out with this but she was pretty eager to pick up the bottle. So what is everyone else working on with there dogs?
-
If thats the case I might as well just get it from agility click as it adds up to the same amount. Aww.

How much is the shipping price?
-
Im sorry
-
Was just wondering when Cleanrun will be doing free shipping? There's some stuff that I really want
-
Your Joking But she's gorgeous Who wouldn't want her ;) Jodi Ah, not a case of not wanting her. More a case of personal circumstances conspiring that they couldn't go ahead with getting her . I'd have her in a heartbeat

Sadly there is no heated pool for dogs down here, id have to go to Melbourne.

The vet just said that once he starts loseing weight that he will feel better, but I think im going to put him on Sasha's Blend because it worked so well for my old lab who had terriable arthrits.
-
I took Toby to the vet today to have him weighed and he's still fat I've been having problems with his weight a few months now and fineally I thought I was getting somewhere but got proved wrong today. I figered what im going to do feeding wise but what should I do about exercise. Toby is really lazy dog and has arthritis. I've tried giving him a free run but he stops after a few mins, would swimming be better for him?
-
I would love to go to this one, there should be at least one seminar coming to Gipsland surly, it's not that bad down here
-
Toby has the same issue although it's not all the time. Took him to the vet who gave his doodle a good exam ( Poor boy was not happy ) and he said it was nothing.

Im useing eaither Alovenn or Fido's.

now that just creeps me out! Got one of those in my bfs backyard, it's my housemates dog. No DD is ever the same even in litters. My girl CJ is a DD (labxgolden) and we have heard that some of her litter mates have been real nervy type dogs one has even snapped at people, with CJ she loves everyone but can be a real handfull.
