  1. haha I knew I was being dumb!!! Have just ordered a 2.5kg bag from petdeli so will see how that goes with my cat as her coat is not looking too good at the moment. Molly (my lab) has been on the adult formula for almost a week now and so far so good.
  2. So... Orijen Adult is also ok for cats??? Or is there a separate cat version? Apologies if i'm being a bit dumb here.....
  3. I'm about to start my 12 mth old lab on Orijen Adult (she's currently on Science Diet but has only been for a week as before she was in rescue). Since I ordered the 13.5kg bag I keep hearing how it can make them super-hyper. She gets 1 - 1.5 hrs exercise a day (over 3 walks) but I don't want to encourage too much more hyperactivity in her as we are at work during the day so she is home alone. Any ideas??
  4. Hi, would really appreciate any info / suggestions on flystrike. My new little girl (rescued from the pound) has had flystrike on her ear. It's now just a few scabs but I'm not sure if I should be treating it or if I should be aware of it getting worse etc? I'm not even entirely sure what causes it. Thanks in advance for any advice
  5. Thank you both for your suggestions - I guess she will be too big for crate training so I will have to keep my eye on her all the time when she's in the house at first. Initially, I am unsure as how to introduce her to the house. It has been mentinoned to me that I need to get her to stay on her mat straight away and if she moves away before me telling her to, then I should put her outside for an bit then bring her in and start again? Does this sound like the way to go? At night she will be sleeping in the garage but when I'm home I want her to be inside with me.
  6. Hi there, I was hoping for some advice. I will be bringing home my little rescue labbie girl on Saturday (very excited ). The rescue org do not have her history as she was a stray when handed into the pound, so we therefore have no idea if she's house / toilet trained. She's approx 12 mths old and still looks like a big puppy (hasn't yet grown into her paws :D ) and from what we can tell she has been neglected. I want to make her feel as welcome into her new home as possible so any advice would be welcome!! Thanks
  7. Yes, I'm a member of this club. I guess it's like any large club - lots of people coming along and large class numbers. You could talk to them to see what class your dog should start from (if you feel you've got a good parternship and the basics with your dog). They may put you up into a higher class based on your experience?!. they have a website so you might find some more info on that. I guess its like anything - they'll be instructors, people and dogs you'll like and some you won't, but I'm sure it's a good starting point for your new rescue for interaction and socialising. They join dogs over 6 months and under 6 months (puppies) on alternate sundays. They're not there this coming Sunday (World Youth Day) and I don't know what joiner is on after that (website might help there)? Anyway, good luck. Thanks Lacey13 - I will definitely give them a call with a view to joining up as soon as possible!
  8. Hi, was hoping for some advice. In the next couple of weeks I hope to be the new mum to a 2.5 yr old lab. She is a rescue doggie and has basic obedience (her general background is unknown) but I really want to take this to a higher level. Does anyone know of a good training organization or club in the Eastern Suburbs? I have heard of Eastern Suburbs Dog Training Club - anyone had an experience with them? Thanks in advance
