We had two Bedlingtons & they where great dogs but don't be fooled by the lamb appearance ,they can be fire crackers but also great dogs . I think of the of the breeds listed i would go Beddie then Poodle, not a fan of the Lagotto just don't seem to do much for me ,Boston is like picking chalk & cheese to the others
-
Yep our vet would have taken them out

For much of what you have wrote for us it would be the time is coming sooner than later . From your post these words are the most important & would factor greatly in my decision coming up to me as if to ask something but she doesn't seem to know what she wants. I try to settle her somewhere comfy and she'll lay for a minute or two and then up she gets again looking at me with these confused and bewildered eyes, as if pleading me to do something for her. Its never easy but the one thing i learnt from hanging on to long with our first few dogs was i would never ever put my dogs through that again ,i feel guilty for the first ones letting them go on to long i don't feel the same with the others ,i new the where aking & it was time & it brought much relief to now i did it sooner than later

Thats if your dog is lucky to do only 10 days so far i've heard of more OOpps & dogs having to suddenly stay longer & then suddenly get told all is sorted you can now go . They don't do enough to warrant that price increase on looking after the dogs inside.they don't brush the dogs ,dog walking companies the last i heard are no longer allowed inside to excersie the dogs so who nows what happens during the 10 days . If you do have a coated breed then you pay big dollars to have it brushed by "who" & an official who must stand there for the entire time twindling there thumbs

Depends what age the first heat is ,ours generally come in at 6 months so if they did get pregnant it would be a massive slap on the head for being so stupid & no way would i let a bitch whelp at that age

Whilst this situation can work it requires the owners to be committed for many years to spend more time with there animal than after hour activities. A run each day just won't cut especially in extreme heat or torrential rain,You need to do a plan of the what ifs & what your willing to sacrifice . You need to decide if you want a dog purely to go running with or a dog that will fit the living lifestyle you have plus other needs that tick the full life commitment box. On what you have posted thus far i think you need to think long & hard about breed selection & reality . You won't be able to run every day all the time so you will need a plan B whether that will be a walk or something more enriching for the dog after all no backyard will be very boring & in turn the house will become its yard so a well trained og happy to be left inside for many hrs unattended doesn't always work without training & planning

Are the recognized in Australia ,i haven't looked yet ??

Import doesn't equate to should be breed though His papers may not even be for showing/breeding especially if the original owner planned to spay ,the breeder may not even be registered with FCI/french kennel club just breeds them for working . Papers could mean anything . Im sure the OP nows what will work best though but either way this dog entire could fall into the wrong hands & there not your run of the mill nature to cross breed with if that happened
-
Why not get the sterile implant done if you aren't going to spay him & rely on the new owners or a vasectomy ,It may be enough to help whilst a suitable home is looked for & weed out the wannebes to the i love this breed even though its not for breeding ,It would be ashame to see it crossed & create some powerful dogs that will make the breed look bad

The marrow bones don't clean teeth they generally wear them down bones can be good if the right ones are used to do the job the wrong ones are a nightmare & i will be honest and say our dogs never get left unattended with bones. Yep turkey necks, lamb flaps things that require all over chewing . Marrow bones are also so fatty & often are part of the pancreatitis factor
-
They are a steriod which is why they work so well but with side effects. Did the vet give the dog an injection?? Depending on how bad the swelling is you can simply use an anti histamine . My boy reacts badly so is a vet job or we use the injections we have.Normally for our bad cases they have simply had a jab & thats it & ice .My boy can take 3 days for the swelling to go

Do Vets Send Found Dogs Straight To A Shelter?
Dogsfevr replied to tikira's topic in General Dog Discussion
I would personally be grateful that A a person made the effort to catch the dog & take it to a facility whether it be the pound or the vet . Not every person is going to place a starnge dog in the car nor would i expect them. We do but we have crates, leads & muzzles if required & dog savvy. Most vets are simply clinics & can not keep dogs over night via council laws . If we lost a dog we would contact the local vets but i w ouldn't expect my dogs to be taken there by a local person i would expect the they would phone the ranger & dog taken to the pound , I also have no issues with first time fines ,i would be grateful the dog was still alive & returned & agree to many people use the hasn't happened before excuse or the dogs escape because they have had workman & not provided a safe option for the dog . Many people don't update details, they change phone numbers or never have the phones witched on ,many have ID tags that the details have worn off i picked some fancy written because it was pretty but no readable . There are many lists on FB where people find dogs & yep hold them until the owners are found, they use a crappy photo & pluck a breed out of the magic hat & say i have found this .many have no clue & make it harder for others & already judge the owners & like its there god given right to be the better owner & not return it ,very scary really -
Mine thrive on the RC energy but we don't feed straight dry

Looking For Some Good Thinning Scissors
Dogsfevr replied to cassie's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
yes ,i also have some others that cost more but we use those weekly in the salon & on our showdogs & for the price have had a good life from them . -
Yep had dog with bad tonsils & had them removed all good after that .She only had the one attack but it was bad & it was an issue in her line Generally they gag especially with a lead on ,be off & have a stinky breath ,no coughing infact many of the dog i now with it didn't have a cough as such. Can run in some lines & some breeds more so. Some vets will remove some won't ours didn't hesitate to remove & she was great after. Most do the med path but it gets to a point that it can affect lead/collar wearing & a decision needs to be made . Many pups can get inflamed tonsils whilst teething * then no issues ever again

Looking For Some Good Thinning Scissors
Dogsfevr replied to cassie's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
We use wahl thinners have lasted well & used all the time. We use Gator straight & bent shank scissors ,Geib etc etc no expensive spared. The reality is though cheap can mean crap & then it costs more to buy another pair. I use single side & very fussy on the the quality as i want perfection in the results & some just don't do the job -
I see it as it takes two to tango ,some Cats are just plain nasty & no dog should have to live with them . When people phone about puppies many will say how is your pups with cats & our reply is how is your cat with dogs & if it doesn't work out what is the plan , We then have the owners of totally house cats only so no cat doors so then we ask where will the dog live & what access inside /out will it have . Both need to have a routine they can all live to . Our most trusted around cats where our Greyhounds but our Grey would be the first to kill chooks so depending on what access they will have on the farm may make other breeds better suited for the WHOLE package

Young Schoolgirls Asking To Take The Dogs For A Walk
Dogsfevr replied to Boronia's topic in General Dog Discussion
No insurance in this day and age no way. I would not trust any teenager to walk my dogs no matter how savy they are & if they don't have public liability insurance any parent that allows then to do this is nuts . When you walk these dogs you are the guardian at that time ,any issues the kids pay the price or the parents that allow it . -
I gather the OP is meaning injections for keeping the prog level at the ideal level to help the survival of the litter . Has she had issues before?? If your vet is a repo vet then they should be answering the questions

Diet is what best suits the dog some do bad on grain free others do fine . There is more to diet than just feeding grain free & personally i found my dogs where worse on it . If the dog hasn't been brushed out fully regularly chances are its full of dead coat & its coat changing time & often whilst blowing coat they felt & mat . A good under coat rake will work wonders, a soft slicker brush for the pants, behind the ears , a good comb . What you wash it in can also make a coat good or bad . What to use again varies my showdogs are done in human shampoo/cons & have been for nearly 30 yrs now
