GSD simple & to the point & the only term i have heard the folk use even back when i had mine. Many breeds have nicknames amongst the fanciers & most dog folk now them especially committeee peeps ,makes it easier to GSD are in the ring than the whole word

Keeping My Future Pugs Young And Healthy

May i also ad many breeders & rescue clubs do anything to help & many rescues make it near impossible . I now breeders who have found out dogs where in facilities & stepped up to the deal with it aap only to have rscues make it impossible to get the dog back or help . But like many people aren't honest & won't phone & say hey things have changed we can no longer keep ^^^^.I can apprepraite in some cases the term"Breeder" is not one we use in the same manner nor would you want to return the dog to them but often the good breeders are there & will do anything to help . Although the biggest issue i see is joe public who make such a big deal over people having to rehome that they make people feel being devious the best choice. Life can change & rehoming may very well be the best & responsible option the sad part is the do gooder brigade make these people fell like the scum for doing something in the right circumstances i applaud. We take any of ours back because whilst we may have sold it we choose to breed it .

Personally i would keep it simple ,For most joe public that is tan .start getting fancy & it becomes even more confusing & beyond the simple aspect it should be . When we board dogs alot rescue i often wonder if they had a "think" party on describing some things to make it sound fancier but what they often describe isn't suited to the dog or if the dog was lost something people would associate with. When describing colours in pure breeds in has meaning & easy to associate with that breed . You could say shaded red which is used to describe the dachie with black . Agouti can become technical ,a Schnauzer has an agouti coat when hand stripped but when clipped generally non as it becomes a solid colour

Have You Already Picked Out Breed/name For Your Next One?
Dogsfevr replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
Nope i never have a name for any new pup ,I wait a few days until i now the dog more & happy the name fits . Generally a name just comes to mind that suits the pup perfectly -
Not dog friendly comapared to Melb & Vic .temp wise we have had between 0 & 1.5 the last 4 mornings . For Lab prices i think they cost more than that . The Lab champ show was on Saturday

If you will always be renting then i would crate train for night times makes life easier . Two days is nothing & some dogs will try anything so as we all now its a fine line between a new routine & not allowing the dog to get away with things . She is young enough to adjust see at present just meet in the middle but setting her up for how she will live with you ,its less confusing on the day than to keep changing & changing . My frineds breed Chi's & there not idiots but they do win the academy award for dramatics so providing the Chi is warm & cosy i wouldn't pander to much but i would say the kitchen is lonely at night & a big space so i would if mine crate at night in my room & set up a sleeping pattern

Dog With Consistently Runny Tummy
Dogsfevr replied to kamuzz's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I have ES and they can be sensitive to foods,my boy would get the runs once a month until i found a diet that suited . Although i my first port of call would be a bowen or chiro , Dogs can pull muscles which can result in the runs & stomach spasms When Proplan was still made in the US that is what i feed my ES ,now its made in Australia found it to be useless & dogs had issues . Have you put him on a pro biotic ?? What other foods does he get ,treats -
I don't get how hard it is to remember to give a tablet & why people would pick an alternative that is more harmful

Any vacc can have side effects . Depends on when your dog was last vaccinated & with what .

Its an interesting topic ,vets are the first to complain if deaf puppies appear but then they can't be bothered getting the equipment . Its not like BAER testing sole purpose is for breeders so its amazing that such a simple & needed to tool is often put into the to hard basket
-
English Setters are BAER tested & i now a number of Border Collie breeders do so aswell. BAER testing can be done at any age on any dog & is also used with dogs that have had severe ear issue & as a result deafness may be happening
-
Good breeders will BAER test all there stock ,deafness occurs in a number of breeds which is why parents & litters should be tested. Some can still hear but one ear only this will also show up during testing

Guide source most of there dogs from show breeders as do assistance dogs certainly here they do & yes some are sired by the dual working dogs so have the best of both worlds AS for drug detection many are failed pets just like the beagle brigade . The prison dogs in this state where also failed pets & from the pounds .(GSD ) Lets face even the police dogs where failed pets at some stage . Lets face it dogs of unknown heritage have been used as assistance dogs for how many years especially through the prison training system ,it comes down to what each dog has to offer The bomb dog in this state many years ago was also a pound dog a Sibe/GSD mix . So its safe to say many assistance dogs in this world are mix & pure often rescued & given a second chance

What Are The Best Breeds Of Dogs For Young Families
Dogsfevr replied to tobie's topic in General Dog Discussion
I don't believe any breed is "suitable" as such. To many what ifs/ Boisterous young kids & a dog ,well i guess it depends what you call boisterous & how they behave all the time & what behaviour you expect from a dog & then the kid/dog combo . -
It Has Been Done A Thousand Times.....
Dogsfevr replied to Loving my Oldies's topic in General Dog Discussion
Raise her food bowl ,many elderly dogs also struggle for balance when trying to eat low down & mutli task , -
I have no issues but we find it hard to convince our puppy owners that "cute" puppies grown into adults quickly & what was cute at 8 weeks may not be cute at 6 months .

[quote name='jasperwall' timestamp='1402463464' post='6501218' thanks for that. and yes, we've thought of our own work and school schedules. i agree with you that we definitely need to invest not just money and food to our pets but more importantly time. as much as possible, this new member of our family will be involve in everything we do because whatever we do, all family members are always in it together so our new puppy will never be left out. the only time i can think of when he will be left alone is when we do our groceries and/or go to church. during this time of unsupervised time, i plan on keeping him in a playpen with some interactive toys. i would definitely seek a good trainer to help me train him. i'm also looking for puppy schools. any advice on that would be great. my goal is to nurture and shape this puppy to be a good manered part of our family. i am committed to invest my time with him. Actually its very important the dog learns not to be with you all the time & how to deal with being left out especially in the environment it will be living in. An issue with apartment dogs is they are very reliant on the humans to cater for many things more so than dogs with a backyard so balancing the line of being independent & able to live happily in that environment is so important for life . Your collie will be to big for a playpen & not a safe option at all

My dogs aren't allowed to jump but i prefer my wire over the soft anyday . My wires have two doors so depending on which car it fits long ways or length ways
