  1. I would suggest heading down toa dogshow & seeing what everyone takes a fancy too ,there a plenty of breeds that would suit but it comes down to what you want to live with & short coats will still shed just as much. Do you work on your Cavies coat weekly ?
  2. Greater majority of our calls want a female as they think there cleaner & that girls don't lift there legs (yeah right ) Yes in some breeds gender can be very different but i am a male person through & through & fined them way more loving . We do have those set on a female only But after explaining most become open minded & happy to have the right pup . Very few have said because of the male anotomy just a preconceived idea of what a male is & does
  3. yes very popular with the Mini Schnauzer people in the US ,Purina Farms holds these events & there very popular hoping to see one in action next year
  4. When this pup goes home for the day will it have the same company ? If it doesn't then pup still needs to learn alone time so its world doesn't become another massive change & hard to adjust too . Our oldies spend very little time with our pups as it just isn't fair & teaching right and wrong with an oldie can be way off base . I would be inclined to just keep pup sep
  5. Well the knots wouldn't have appeared over night so i gather another Keeshond owner that waits till its desperate & then does the oh no don't clip line frustrates me no end as a groomer what people want & the pain the expect the dog to go through because they haven't brushed it or got on top of it earlier , Advice to sway her ,the pain the dog will go through due to her not looking after her dog . We have clipped lots of Keeshonds off because the knots where so bad no decent dog loving groomer would put the dog through it . Having said that without seeing the coat it may be suitable to brush through but i wouldn't do it in one hit as it irriates the skin badly doing a massive groom out in a few hrs plus chances are the dog isn't trained to be brushed so it becomes hard work on all
  6. #1 soft expression & the breed doing what it does best . 2 is alright if you want a "different' look but doesn't do anything for me
  7. Sounds like the dog has all the humans trained well ,there is nothing wrong with the pup having a tainty ,alot of our show pups will do this & create holy hell ,infact there often the best showdogs because they test the waters more , The issue here is there is no put putting a lead on it unless there is some sort of human winning & dog not & sometimes they just need a little reminder of who is in charge & who isn't at this age it should be walking very well. What is pup like being brushed ?? Depends on the lead being used ,i hate harness for dogs & most wont walk as they pull the arms pits . The odd tug will not be the end of the world but the more they pander the worse it will get , All the Svotties i see at shows as babies are very good onleads & easy to train
  8. I now plenty who do it with no issues at all,we haven't as yet but have no worries in doing so if we feel pet owners can't be trusted ,sadly like Cockers we also have a breed that is highly sort after by BYB ,exporters etc etc & ensuring our pups future is worth the small risk to spay early if required . Given how many cross breeds do dog sports & do it well spayed early i think that debate is just like all the others , if your asking this question then it says you have concerns with the breeder & should go elsewhere as i gather they told you from day 1 this is there conditions of sale .

  10. The issue is like already mentioned if you get the permit it is no guarantee for ever so you still need to be prepared for what to do if they refuse the next time around & what your plan of attack will be . Loop hole won't help you if the neighbour kicks up a stink & the rule must be inforced . So do it properly with your council there the ones to keep on yourside
  11. DNA can be done very early ,well before the pups are ready to go BUT most breeders won't chip until 7/8 weeks & thus the DNA can't be done until there chipped ,BUt any set backs should be told to you ,it really isn't that hard to say this is the process & the age we do things so papers may take *** time .
  12. Im guessing not all off the story has been told ,what exactly has the dog been feed ,if to much fatty foods then yes not all dogs can tolerate it
  13. The only Lab owners i now that ask for it are to lazy to brush the coat & hate the fact they shed ,umm ofcourse they do,they think if they clip there will be less coat to vacuum up . We won't clip them off & it would have to be an amazing reason to do so I can't think of any good reason to clip a Lab
  14. Fed sep chances are his mission to eat fast is so he cans teal the next dog a great game, great & feed make eating time calm, you can place some tennis/golf balls in the bowl & see what happens but yes the slow feeders do help
  15. ARe you talking about tube feeding for life ,few days or what ?? If it was long term no i wouldn't put a dog through it ,its bad enough in humans
  16. 2 weeks is nothing this dog has had a massive change in life new home, new owners, new routine, new rules & new expectations .Patience is a must when training if your becoming frustrated then why should the dog comply ,training is about mutual respect & adjusting training methods to suit new delevops, you say he's eager to learn but one of the quickest downers of this is owners who become so regimental that the dogs switch of as they simply get frustrated. I don't teach mine to sit ,never found the need for it i prefer to to have calm dogs that can stand as i find that more useful & often more comfy for the dogs BUT i have one simple rule & no charging through doors & they now that they just stand & wait . The biggest issue is all household members need to do the training & follow the rules
  17. Ours is open 24/7 so can't help you but i would gather placing something along side it to block the bugs would be the easiest option
  18. dogs can only travel using a company One would presume you now all about there dogs.lines, health testing & what there lines produce regularly & you have told them what you are hoping to achieve by selecting there kennel & above all what you are after & why you think there dogs best suit . Importing is a risk just like buying locally ,no guarantee it will turn out so it becomes an more expensive deal. Our first import we where sent a total lemon way to big so couldn't be shown . I guess the main thing to ask yourself is can i only buy what i want from NZ or can i get it in Australia & if i can buy Australia what does this kennel have to offer that is better . Importing is a risk & can be an expensive one ,if you don't trust the person at the other end then think twice if you do trust them & its only a pup then the risks apply if you breed it yourself to run on
