Stacks of dogs have ewe necks but it doesn't stop them from being trained its easy to visibly see ,In fact Greyhounds would be one of the worse with Ewe necks & when you look for the issue you will see how common it is .When ES sit anyway they sit often with a strange appearance they sit but often with the head /neck right back ,it doesn't like right but its them Gay tail also wont stop train ability , In the US ES as hunting dogs tails are as gay as they come when working & they sit fine . ES are a very smart breed but training is all about why ,they learn to quickly but i also find its a breed owners give up to quickly because they often have that vague appearance so many an obedience trainer list them as not smart just like Irish Setters

I think you could add for ever but for me if i only had one dog a wire crate & a good non escapable lead would be my must haves. You can never have enough vet wrap & its human/pet usable . The reality is what can i grab if i had to asap . For fires we have fire buckets which have slip leads, vet wrap muzzles etc etc & yes we double up as we have kennels we figure you can never have to much but there comes a point where in an emergency grabbing everything isn't possible so the most useful is for us

Breeding Blue Staffordshire Bull Terriers
Dogsfevr replied to Meg_1985's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'm thinking there most likely not much help and breed blues after all no real breeder breeds blue by choice . To the OP will you be showing your girl ? Or is your plan just to bred pups .i only ask as it will d termite who will sell you a male or allow there dogs at stud especially given how many Staffies are just breed and for colour because as already mentioned colour is last on the list although most would not have purchased a blue to breed with. You also need to assess her faults and determine what you need in a male to help -
Socialising Scared My Dog And He Cannot Be Shown Now
Dogsfevr replied to cyrus2015's topic in Puppy Chat
Your pup is 16 weeks so in the scheme of the show world it only has potential, your pup may not turned out anyway as a show/ breeding prospect but scars does not stop a dog from being shown. I think your being overly dramatic & should be more worried about making sure the actual dog attack doesn't affect your pup . Lesson learnt if you don't want your dog to play then say no . And don't blame the breed ,one of the nastiest dogs i have ever seen was a Vislza & i had to make sure it didn't attack my dog whilst in the group line up on numerous occasions, sadly it did bite a dog at the show & got suspended so any breed can have an issue or just not click with the dog on the day -
Our dog door is big, designed for large dogs to be able to get in & out in comfort & not injure there back.if someone is stupid enough to take there chances & come through good on them but we weren't prepared to compromise the dogs comfort . Our door is in our security sliding door . If you have a sliding door the easist option is the panel that just fits in ,not cheap but doesn't cause any damage or modifications & still locks the door

Why Are Greyhounds Always Suggested As "no Fuss" Dogs?
Dogsfevr replied to Salukifan's topic in General Dog Discussion
Having owned 8 Greys they are low fuss, don't like massive exercise & enjoy the couch & happy to chill out on there own BUT they still love there humans & time with them . I rarely recommend them because people don't like the look, just like Whippets ,under estimated pets based on looks & pre conceived ideas of them chasing everything . I don't recommend my current breed either because generally peoples want list is obviously based on a stuffed dog or the dream dog . But i will say i don't get why people always suggest Greys because like every breed out there there not for everyone but i still firmly believe there a hidden treasure as a breed -
I would be looking for a good dog chiro or bowen person to ensure there isn't a muscle issue & the nerves are twitching hence the dog responding .

Most grain diets will still have other ingredients that can be an issue . The answer is simply what suits your dog not what the human thinks it should have . If your dog is doing great on what its being feed then don't change it. We don't chop & change diets here if its suits the dog that is what it gets . And like already mentioned most people who get fixiated on grain free feed crappy treats & other stuff so it really defeats the purpose

Personally we don't encourage our puppy owners to take time off, start as you plan to go for life . If you plan to stay home then whilst home the pup needs to do the routine of what would be when your at work so unless your prepared to not pamper it with love & make it think you will be there 24/7 then i would not take time off . What your main concern will be is ensuring the pup is well catered for as its summer ,winter babies are so much easier . Keep in mind the laundry often is one of the warmest areas so pup may not enjoy being in there & exercise as a puppy before & after work will be limited for quite some time due to the growth plates so you need to look at activities that encourage independence & using its brain until walks can come in ,a tired pup is one that has had to think . Also make sure what type of personality you are after in your pup & make sure the breeder is aware of this & talk to them at what is best for making a Sibe a non escape artist .The fence is a great start

The fact you have said We don't want to get rid of puppy and I don't want to lose choc. None of our family can take her as they already have dogs and children I will be honest you should never have brought a new dog home knowing the old dogs issues & that being 10 yrs of issues . The pup needs to go before it gets traumatized more or attacked again & suffers worse injuries or become aggressive. The old dog should be your first priority not the pup .Its not a case of get rid of the dog with issues now because the pup will be more fun ,the old dog is your responsibility. Not sure where you got the pup from but surprised if a reputable place they where happy to let it go to live with an aggressive dog

Just call. As a breeder being sent a SMS message is a big no go for us . No time will ever be right but that can be sorted very easily from a phone call. We prefer phone calls than emails, emails are so back & forth ,on the phone the answer can be very easy if there set on something we don't/won't have. During that phone call we then ask for them to send an email with all there details . Headings & peoples email addresses can be an issue,we get so much in our junk mail & we don't open all our junk mail so be very specific about the title if you want to email .also keep in mind for the last 8 weeks we like many have had big email issues so reliant on the providers to sort things out

Its easy if your worried about pay back then you have to suck it up & not complain,if you want to be able to walk your dog in peace then report it .

Why Does Chicken And Rice Help An Upset Tummy?
Dogsfevr replied to Pretty Miss Emma's topic in General Dog Discussion
Never used rice but always use pumpkin -
Show dogs aren't taught not to sit .like i said in my previous post my ES aren't a sitting breed they stand or lay & you have said "sometimes" sits . Its the breed but it doesn't mean they can't sit its just not for them,i find with my Setters standing & drop is natural because in the field that is what they do . I have owned a GSD & yep training the two is like chalk & cheese ,your GSD will do anything to please ,you peeve and English Setter off & it will make a meal of you & the battle will begin .like i say there all about "why" so "why " should i sit & if there is no real reason to do it they won't . What you need to do is reward when he sits in his day to day life & make him realize that makes you excited.

My best advice is to make sure your dog is well exposed to noise and the outside world, the Royal can be very overwhelming for puppies with the noise around especially when leaving and having to go through part of side show alley and the rides . Lunch I would buy but take drinks. You don't have to talk to anyone if you don't want to ,you can take a book and read whilst your dog sits in its crate
-
Personally if it's just because the vet said I wouldn't be worried ,not sure why the vet would want a dog to sit anyway. ES think differently and have the attitude of why but they are good learners when the process engages them .They can certainly make it hard if the process doesn't seem right to them Show dog or not they can sit ,my old ES isn't a fan of sitting but loves down,I don't teach sit but always teach drop but for vet visits I good stand is a blessing , Does the dog regularly sit when not asked or is he a stand and down type of dog?

There is only one person who has Welsh in Perth but she no longer breeds them ,you will have to go east

Unless it's one run to specifically teach the right manners into adulthood then a total waste ,far to many are free for alls and run by unqualified people .Puppies need to learn that seeing another dog means it's entitled to play, teaching self control and focus amongst a crowd is far more important ,good dog manners sets up a pup for life You can tell the owners who have been to a free for all puppy school as they often struggle to control there dog when getting older.Puppy school should be about teaching adult values and behaviour not about researching the dog bad habits taught at free for alls
-
This is something you & the other party need to discuss ,co ownership agreements are a very personal thing .Ideally this should be all sorted before you even start the process especially with an import . I have co owned 17 dogs but i wouldn't bring an import co owned
-
Have you discussed this with the co owner ? I would be going to a repo vet for a second opinion
