Breeder Policies On Puppy Deposits, Partial Payments, Etc
Dogsfevr replied to HELLBOY's topic in General Dog Discussion
We never ever take deposits. Once puppies are vet checked, microchipped & there personalities are known to us ,prospective people come out & look at the puppies. Once puppy is selected we take a very small holding fee & the holding fee & microchip number of puppy selected is receipted ,when puppy is collected a week later microchip number is confirmed per paperwork & balance paid . I see no reason to ask for money on pups that haven't past the crucial survival stage, not been vet checked or have any clue what the natures are & whether suitable for each family .Whilst we don't have temp issues matching puppies to the right environment is very important to us . -

Dogsfevr replied to Stitch's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
All our dogs get Bowen treatment but especially the oldies as iits important to keep all the muscles in good condition as often they over use other areas that can end up more sore -

How To Get A Response From A Reputable Breeder?
Dogsfevr replied to wimaly's topic in General Dog Discussion
I would say 50% of emails we get are sent to the junk folder most due to the wierd Hotmail/gmail type names,a lot have no headings so like many we don't always open those as we don't now who it's from and what its even about , We try and reply as soon as possible but then we have had the issue of responding and the email bounces back so it's not always the breeders fault . We then get the multi ones from various family members that obviously have no clue or they do there emailing the same person and it starts to send signals. Or in our case no Telstra for 3 weeks due to Telstra issues and not all emails being received. We get those that email who then email again 3 hrs later asking us to reply asap ,hello haven't sat down to do emails yet , We ask all our people to phone and only ask for emails after the phone call with correct current details and outlining what they wanted in the phone call. Got Ng to shows to see what's out there is great but I suggest phoning and not a Friday night or weekends as that's show time .. I will be the first to admit we are finding puppy emails stranger and stranger ,we respond back and then you don't hear back from them for a week or so it be omessuch a drawn out process that is covered in a phone call -
Yes one gets the salmon and another the venison. Both large breed very active dogs that holding weight is an issue ,they have kept good weight on Ivory coat ,the one on venison is twice but that would apply to any food feed ,I do feed mutton mince aswell

Flame suit on but you seem to use the word Kill factor an awful lot & i think you need to understand the breeds more or else your going to end up with the wrong dog & have the wrong understanding of how they work . All dogs will hunt, all dogs get bored, all dogs are smart & need to have there minds exercised . What you need to look at is what are the breeds you already have & what will there manners be like around a large dog ,if they have simply been around an old GSD that most likely didn't interact with them then they will make or break how any new dog settles in especially a giant goofy large breed . So it comes down to the fact the large breed puppy will need time out for everyone else & the small dogs will need time out.The temp of the current dogs must be factored into what they can handle & live with . I have large & small dogs & all parties have manners towards each other the little ones can not torment the big dogs & the big dogs must lay down to see the little dogs but they do spend alot of separate time so each sizes can play & be the size they are . 38kg v 7 kg . It has always worked well for us but we are very careful . If the Mastiff style is for you then i hope you love drool

Kibble With Novel Protein Suggestions?
Dogsfevr replied to fortam's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
What exactly do you feed & that includes any treats & what are the allergy issues -
Many methodsMAY work but most rely on other people being there & working together when the key word is given. Size or breed makes very little difference once they decide to latch on . Certainly the figure up the bum does work BUT the last time i saw that method used both dogs where on leads & the third party did the deed & told them when to move far away quickly

Contact Baycity travel in QLD. If your flying each person can take one as excess baggage & freight for the others .So take the dogs as Excess & freight the cats Price wise hard to say because it can be charged in sectors so you may find it easier to fly out direct from Brisbane -
My dogs are show dogs so crate trained BUT i would never ever not train my dogs to be in a crate . So many right reasons for them to enjoy being in a crate . As for choices depends on each dog mine hated the soft crates as they are more airless plus there a pain for water bowls if that option was needed . Mind you mine have C pens so can enjoy walking around at shows

Do Your Dogs Get Sick Often? Hemagiosarcoma On The Heart
Dogsfevr replied to SarasMum's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have to say given the scenario i would be doing the vet route -
When you want a colour only then you need to contact breeders & then work from there .We get people in our breed that want colour only & that is fine but they may have to wait longer & then obviously hope there is a pup for them that is right for that family .If the colour is right but the pup is the wrong match we won't sell it . Phone breeders up & then go on a waiting list as often pups are sold before there born

Some dogs will chew there feet if they have anal gland issues.Does your Davie have hairy feet ? If so it could be a Tinea style thing where the feet are to mist ,we normally would use canister or even plain white vinegar but it wouldn't hurt to get it checked
-
I would be buying what the pup is use to after in its the pup that has to deal with it it the human and one barf box isn't a big deal ,I wouldn't have expected the breeder if local to supply the food our puppy buyers are informed well in advance the diet sheet so any issues can be discussed
-
Agree invest in buying a dryer now & teach your puppy to be blow dried, the dog doesn't have to be bathed for this to be done & you could do it weekly . You can buy very good budget dryers that will last many years if you look after them . Good slicker brushes ,a comb & in the perfect world a grooming table will be your best friend . And as already mentioned learning to embrace hair because it will be your new best friend but the more effort you make weekly to brush through & keep a good coat the easier it is & the less volume you will have
-
In all fairness you have issues with your own dog that you struggle with you can't expect an older person to deal with it in there own home . I think the house sitter has made the right decision . You have a dog that has a disruptive lifestyle & a breed that is often very attached to there owners . Whilst i think dog walkers can be a great tool it sounds like this dog needs more consistency in its life & a better routine of where it belongs & what is expected . We run boarding kennels & i help show Springers & we board a variety of working & show lines & they all cope well because they have a structured routine BUT it won't change the lack of manners issues which you will be dealing with in June . Even a dog walker may not walk the dog if its lead manners are not there after all the wear & tear on the body isn't worth it . So if you do seek a dog walker ask alot of questions & go on a test run with them .

Depends what sort of activity level you want to provide & what your expectations are when traveling .What general style of environment they dog needs to be good in & how much alone time it may spend . Do you want something that can easily sit in a good quality pen happily or something more reliant on being attached to a lead for quality time .by pen i mean to be used at times of just sitting around & dog confined with ample space to chill in its bed or have a play without being loose or always on a leash . There are plenty of breeds that would be ideal just comes down to what best suits you

Find a good repo vet and see what they say if you truly want a litter from her. Get semen sent to you so you have it ready and look at the options in advance . I also would never ever vaccinate before a mating , If the breeder I f your girl is very knowledgable then yes contact them and ask there advice

Campaign To Allow Dogs In More Public Places
Dogsfevr replied to MonElite's topic in General Dog Discussion
Until the general public start taking responsibility for there dog behaviors, toilet habits it will be a big ask. I often think obedience clubs should start catering more for classes which is more about going out & about in public & what is right & wrong instead telling people to leave if the collar or method they use isn't there ideal . I think clubs need to be more open minded & engaging to the benefits of a well trained dog if you want to go to pet friendly cafes, take the dog to watch there kids play sports etc etc . I now from our business point of view a boarding kennel people allow there dogs to poo & not pick it up or even tell us ,people walk there dog over to our BBQ to piss up it & the outdoor setting etc etc . We need to work at the bottom about why training classes & well behaved dog can be a joy in public not a right & then hopefully dog friendly cafes have the balls to turn people away with feral dogs or the im entitled attitude. I have been to some pet friendly cafes & truly enjoyed it & others a nightmare & made me be embarrassed to be a dog lover
