So has the dog everbeen feed from a bowl? When you say feed raw by hand what do you mean
-
Its hard to say what to expect without knowing what both parties are expecting & what has already been discussed. I gather your in Vic so the show will be indoors,it will be noisey, lacking in space & hard to hear & most likely not the easiest environment to do alot of playing etc etc . Keep in mind they are there to show there dogs first & foremost so be mindful if there getting ready to show to maybe move away ,depending on what letter of the alphabet they are will depend on time between breed & specials. If its the Junior kennel club show during lunchtime they will have a large break due to the junior handler finals so unless these people plan to watch or are loaning a swap dog that may be a good time so when you get there introduce yourself & ask if now is a good time . Questions can be hard to talk at shows & i would leave that to a phone call where you can clearly hear & talk about things without taking up the breeders time.if your solely going to meet them & there dogs in a neutral space just leave it at that .

what month are you getting puppy
-
Did the breeder sell on a spay contract ??
-
Such a shame the breeder can't be bothered acknowledging the efforts you have made ,hopefully the next few months show continued improvement and she becomes a healthy, well adjusted pet

Depends on the coat texture, knots & the dog itself & what look they want

I would not be using water spray bottles on a breed that traditionally loves water .They just need to walk away or encourage the right behaviour ,the water pistol will end up becoming another game tha the pup will think is fun & encouraged The kids are old enough to be involved more in training & to use there voice .I dare say its a case of the kids starting something but not liking the game when the pup gets to excited so the kids also need to learn that some things come with a consequence & it not always the pups fault its responding to what may be encouraged so they need to be taught to look for signs of when its getting to much or be encouraged to play games that are more calming .The kids can start teaching tricks ,they can fed pup & make it sit ,they can do so many things . Gundogs are a mouthy breed that is natural ,pup needs to be taught what goes into mouth & what gentle is,all my gundogs from pups will carry my hand gently ,they love that human time & respond so well to gentle & what is right & wrong they also love carrying there toys .

Questions which are of importance to you ,write them down & then think of where that topic can lead to ,i could tell what to ask but the questions need to be what you want to ask & the answers that are important to you ,just like a breeder will ask you questions to see . One hint though don't say i have done extensive research on the breed if you haven't ,i cant tell you how many say that within there first sentence & when you ask them questions its very obvious they know nothing, saying its a breed that interest you but not sure if its the right match is the truth & the breeder can work with you than feel like your trying to fool them & sound like a time waster or an expert . I will give you some ideas on questions Health testing Age they place out pups Desexing agreements Diet Breeder support If you asked about a deal with pups you would be rubbed off our list asap, the price of pups is $$$ & that is what you pay

As a breeder we prefer calls and then we ask for a follow up email. Right down in point form the questions you want to asK. A breeder during your questions will expand and find answers within your questions. Breeders don't want to be convinced your the right person they will find out themselves. In our breed we have no issues selling siblings but they clearly informed of the pros/cons and we will often access if there ready for two pups Also keep in mind when someone asks for two it can ring alarm bells at unplanned litters . Some people phone and do your head in with silly chat so that's why having a list of important questions can make it easier and both parties get a clear understanding of what each want and it's not lost in translation. Keep in mind Malts have small size litters and certainly not breed in the numbers use to .

What Do You Think About This Behaviour?
Dogsfevr replied to Simply Grand's topic in General Dog Discussion
She wouldn't be staying at our place even if separated as it just instilling the behaviour more & will make the girls become feral & be on patrol . I would say two bitches that just don't get along . -
I doubt it has anything to do with her past more with how the set up currently is . You say she goes in there when you can't be outside with them ,so going in the run suddenly means no human & no other dog ,likely something she isn't use to. If you intend to want them to learn to survive on there own then she needs to learn & it will happen . But a massive change in a month can be a very over bearing time on a young dog

Feed less . What are you feeding now ?What quantity do you feed ,do you feed once/twice a day? What treats does he get? What is the activity level ??
-
No breed is cat proof just like not all cats are nice to dogs. Introduction, having there own safe zones & training ,Some great on great others need more management some just arent cat okay just like some cats can be very nasty & attack dogs

You now what I wouldn't take no for an answer ,you are going to spend above and beyond for what you have paid for her and the training help you will need to make her an adjusted dog . You will be outlining the $$$ and time in a dog that the breeder obviously couldn't give a toss about and should take back . Sorry this has happened we have rehomed older dogs and they go on a trial run with a written contract ,taking it back if not suitable is just the moral thing to do

There is no quarantine BUT it will cost big dollars to take a dog that size back & forth . Better to put the money towards finding a kennel that will provide the dog with alot of human interaction & exercise .Keep in mind a good kennels will provide more quality time than some house sitters . I would not do a private board without a contract & without truly knowing what they will provide especially given you are covering the summer months . We run kennels & long term boarders adapt very well . You need to look at what method will provide your dog with the safest option & you will need to book soon as you cover school holidays . I would not consider sending a dog east to strangers ,you need to find someone local & do meet & greets & a dummy run to ensure you dog will adjust to such a change without you being there if using a house sitter

My dog who has always had chicken of some form started to come out in hots spots, scabby sores & little blisters,He was 7 yrs old Now has no chicken of any form & all is good,he was tested for varying things with no answer, over 12 months now & everything has settled no sores to be seen . The chicken may not be an issue but never say never .I would maybe discuss changing her diet to see especially if losing condition Some suggest rubbing coconut oil on the sores with the issue your dog may have but how proven that is is another thing
-
I think you will find the coat you originally brought was always to small, that size wouldn't even fit our dogs that are similar size ,The coat size you now how have would fit a good weight Cocker & the coat style & shape also determines how well it fits a dog some are very tight at the front others aren't A Cocker shouldn't be smaller than a Staffy they both have the same height size
-
Im not sure BUT do now from a boarding kennel point of view some vets have given there clients a supposed 3 yrly & the sticker with the info on it will expire before 3 yrs . We always insist the sticker provided by the manufacturers is always used as it has the batch number & expiry dats but many just do print outs

What collar do you use ? Sounds like your puppy has trained you well

Socialization isn't about dog parks.Socializing is about the outside world which is more than just dogs. My dogs never go to do parks, never interact with dogs on walks but my dogs are very social because playing with another dog isn't a given but a privelage .They know self control & they now when there allowed to play Mine are show dogs so learning to behave sanely amongst other dogs is important to me. What we find these days with boarding dogs is you can tell the ones who have been to free for all puppy school there manners are dreadful & they have no self control when they see another dog ,they place higher value on the dogs than anything else . Plus when you go to the vets & see the dogs that can't sit there calmly because they have never been taught that sitting there calmly ignoring the world is better manners .
-
I would suggest you train the dog to be confined asap.If you plan to use a puppy pen then start training the dog to be happy in one . If you can hold off surgery for awhile it would be better to also condition the dog to how its going to have to live whilst recovering .
-
Yep paranoid ,also is she able to take her self out to the potty porch or totally reliant on you to take her out?

There old not common at all for eating habits to change, there sense of smell may be going & older dogs often look for different things. We have had oldies that can be harder to feed & we just adapt, great eaters all there life
