  1. And the op new it did it the first time so both parties could have addressed this issue ,maybe the OP couldn’t pick the dog up either ,either way this groomer has been honest ,the dog barks ,they could say nothing at all then it would be a post of the groomer never told me my dog barks so it’s seems there in a no win situation. Age means nothing ,any dog savvy person can tell future issues even at that age ,so I see no issue in the groomer suggesting a course of action for the dogs sake surely that is what matters . And yes I’m a groomer and very honest to clients about any issues big or small being noted so the owner is aware and plans/strategy’s considered .
  2. I disagree plenty of groomers can suggest a trainer because they see more issues than an owner may see,I say good on any groomer who suggests help & good on the groomer for being very honest & not lying about things & alerting the owner to a behaviour that there not aware off. The groomer was right in implying the OP can help train the dog ,the dog isn't crated at home so its a behaviour they haven't had to deal with but something they can certainly work with at home very easily & make the dog feel much happy .Most vets are grateful for dogs that are crate trained if the dog is in for the day . What to do i agree talk with the groomer & ask about booking a time slot where you drop off & pick up once finished .If you have used this groomer for a long time without issues i would presume there is enough off a relationship to talk that over .If its not something there happy to work with then finding another place would be a good start It sounds like this dog was fine until crated ,so ideally crate training should have happened as soon as .The more work owners dog the easier it is for the dog ,most groomers will try BUT many premises by council regs have a noise restriction to there license ,the barking makes it hard to hear the phone & can set other dogs off
  3. The OP could apply to adapt one of the many surrendered from the property raid yesterday
  4. We get GSD in boarding with terrible ears ,we just buy the zinc cream for the supermarket, thick and white cost us . Spray wise go to a good horse stockist or stockfeeds there are some great stuff for horses that works for dogs to repel flies
  5. Should also say there are 3 other registries that have a lot of French Bulldog breeders are joining because it’s easier to register and no limitations on colour being accepted . Also understand the different registries. For example if you want to show the only registration that’s is accepted is Ankc bodies ie dogsnsw, dogswest ,people are getting misled as to what mains and limited means and thinking they are buying a pup that is suitable for certain things when it isn’t . My advice applies to any other breed bred under these registries, infact I have just seen a for sale post for WA for Frenchies registered under ICBS ,the wording of the add if not savvy is worded to confuse people again into what true mains/ limited papers means
  6. I would suggest you double check the ethics of the breeder ,be mindful many French Bulldog breeder joined MDBA due to breeding colours that are not recognised but this org accepts ,do your homework carefully ,if there asking crazy price based on colour run the other way . I do believe buying this breed sight unseen is a high risk . If you proceed make sure you have a return contract set up after getting it vet checked . I would suggest a good wait from the right breeder a good option in this breed ,also check healthing testing and ask why there not members of Dogs NSW There are puppies advertised in WA on this site . Also talk with someone from the French Bulldog awareness group of WA ,there knowledge and advice could save you big $$$$ or head down to the dog shows in Perth starting next week to talk to the Frenchie people
  7. Well if there a member of MDBA I would question why . Is it a French Bulldog by any chance ?
  8. You need to contact registered breeders and then wait .From the time a bitch is mated till age they can start to leave is 4 months bitches cycle twice to once yearly so waiting is normal .Talk to breeders ,find the ones you like and then wait ,good breeders who have nothing p,annex will suggest other breeders

    Wet stitches

Just wipe them with peroxide from the chemist supermarket, perfect world they don’t want wet but not the end of the world
  10. Find a good breeder and make sure they Baer test . We have boarded some nasty shockers to great dogs .
  11. Yes a Greyhound with it ,life span short ,quality time short enjoyed the time had to the fullest thengiven her wings . We had no intentions to put her through traumatic options to suit us
  12. I will be honest and say you are crazy letting a dog offleash that you have had for such a short time ,a dog that isn’t trained, doesn’t know you and has issues ,You are creating your own drama and that was pointed out in your other post about teaching him from scratch and giving him boundaries not opportunities. He sounds typical Frenchie without manners ,they are full on some more than others .abig dog little dog attitude . I doubt he was a stud dog ,the fact he was sold so cheaply as a Frenchie is more concerning . Have you talked with anyone from the French Bulldog awareness group or just googled . Keep in mind googling is great googling is also a receipe for disaster .
  13. You need to phone the breeder, irrespective of her having surgery this dog is stuck in the middle of a problem,a problem for your Mum and long term maybe a problem you inherit, also how much money is your Mum able to spend on a potential problem dog . This may be a case of the wrong dog for a good home ,I am a firm believer of patience but this not normal settling in issues ,this dog is really out of sorts
  14. What has the breeder suggested ,have you kept them up to date with her progress? If this dog is truely not settling I would return her ,any dog we place out goes on a 12 week trial anyway .No dog should be unhappy due to no fault of its own or fault of your mother,Sometimes things aren’t meant to be and a decision made sooner than later is something that should be discussed Secondly this dog may not be coping due to not being around other dogs , You can try every method and do things till the When . We always make it clear things don’t happen overnight but this situation require a lot more thought ,talk to the breeder ASAP
  15. i think the fact you have asked has answered your own question . Just remember she is sick ,she is being helped to cope with pain meds . the decision for me being able to do it on my own terms with divinity ,not coming home from work to a situation that may be very traumatic and regretful . As a not we had a Grey diagnosed with bone cancer ,she lasted 4 weeks from the diagnosis ,it was summer ,she felt the cold terribly with the air con
  16. Contact Sherae in WA or Mooreholme in Vic or bay city in QLD but I would say a $2000 plus
  17. There are 2 litters listed for QLD on the puppy page plus numerous litters in NSW ,they should have no trouble sourcing a pup
  18. i would find her a home where someone understands the breed but appreciates she will not be a worker but an awesome pet
  19. https://www.buddywagon.com.au/ Besides prams especially those with larger dogs consider something like these ,We brought a similar one from BCF ,holds 80kg & we use it to cart stuff on the property /shows etc etc & would use it for our larger dogs if required, folds up compact & multi purpose
  20. Exactly ,i often think Australians are snobs about what they think is right compared to other countries & the fact is dog ownership in this country is no where near the likes of many overseas places . Some consider a 10 min sniff a walk & an outing & will say what these dog walkers do is not right .There getting out, there trained & i would walk past these dog walkers any day compared to most in the burbs with one dog on an extender lead that head straight for you because there dog is dragging them over & they believe there dog is entitled to say hello .You can pick the dogs who have been to a crappy puppy class a mile away
  21. Soft crates get hot,It was a hot day ,if this dog hasn’t been truly crate trained that is a long time, add medication then it’s most likely the dog could toilet in the crate after all when you have to go you go and no one was home if he was actually asking to be let out .No different to a human in the same scenario suddenly having to seek a loo out due to meds step backwards no but you need to plan outings differently if the crate is your choice of confinement. I would look at the bathroom or laundry if cool enough and use a baby gate . I guess it depends what your long term plan is for the dog when going out
  22. I don’t believe so but there are conditions that can cause this type of thing
