You need to contact breeders,all breeders tell you the price ,as to deposits that’s a breeder to breeder thing ,we don’t do deposits . You shouldn’t do anything to make sure your the right fit for that breeder . If you have researched the breed,understand the breed and committed to brushing you are headed down the right path . Year to year cost depends on you ,how much you chose to spend ,if you are a responsible owner who raises there puppy correctly etc you should have a healthy ,enjoyable Pom which live to a good age . You can waste plenty of money on non necessities. But you would need to factor food,groomers fee if you aren’t prepared to brush ,basic vet bills more if you create issues less if you follow or talk with your breeder

Look at it from this point of view ,your 90 yrs old & your day revolves around looking after a 3 yr old & you ask advice how can we get on & enjoy our day more . Simple fact most old dogs don't want to be harassed by a puppy ,even our older dogs here have a safe zone from puppies & they have grown up with many new generations but like all things that get older also start to not enjoy them & there patience & desire to tolerate lessons ,they start to feel overwhelmed & no control . Puppy needs a play pen where the older dogs still have there life there normal & can experience puppy without fear /concern ,after that its short doses & also accepting that your oldies may simply not enjoy this pup they way you think they should or will

I have owned parti coloured Greyhounds ,black/white,red brindle/white /blue brindle & white & a solid Blue . The solid blue had a way finer coat than the partis & had health issues.The partis had nice thick coats . Never used sunscreen & showed them in summer & they loved sun baking & never needed sunscreen . Some colours are simply not breed in high numbers but like others have said picking a whippet with the right temp to live with kids is far more important & yes i too have colour preferences BUT would never take on the wrong dog just because of colour . If your wanting a Whippet to enjoy beach life & kids then picking the right pup will be very important as a nervous whippet will be your worst nightmare .

What ashame you could have attended the 2 whippet shows just held over the weekend in NSW .A big weekend at the Royal,hound club,sighthounds club and whippet shows . As for colour many will not be interested because there are plenty more where colour isn’t a priority for pet homes and a wait just for colour can be longer than you think . Colours just don’t appear . As to this scenario you either want a healthy pup with a good history or you just want any dog which kinda makes colour only irrelevant

This dog sounds very confused and not surprised .For starters he doesn’t now ,he isn’t doing anything deliberate or wrong ,pup just has no clue what you want . If this pup came from a breeder where it learnt to toilet on lawn it’s going against all the pup was taught early on for toileting so you need understand that your now wanting him to toilet in his pen which we teach from 5 weeks not too . The pitfalls of an apartment dog and an active breed . You need to decide what the long term plan is and for any apartment dog that is making sure quality grass outdoor time is a must so if your plan is for the dog to toilet when outside then that’s what you train now . The pup can’t live in the pen all the time even at this age . If your busy / running late that isn’t the pups fault ,toileting is important hanging on is not healthy .When it rains you have to factor getting wet as you will be any way to exercise the dog otherwise he will likely destroy your home aka his yard if you don’t define the too. At present your home is his toilet as that is what you are teaching him ,he doesn’t get that the toilet set up is where you want him to go so he has no reason to tell you ,hence taking him on the grass and teaching him to go to the door to alert you is toilet training . Many use real rolled lawn if it’s a must they toilet in the home / balcony to keep it real . Your will be challenged making it work for apartment living ,is not easy but success is based on your dedication to go above and beyond to meet its daily needs so you need to do a list of your expectations as an adult and start that now . The first item will be outside on the grass first thing every day no matter what the weather is and again at night . You need to work on an age plan to meet its needs especially as it will be at in influential age for winter ,exploring more ,able to jump ,wanting to hear,touch and react to noises etc etc

I guess the question is what kind of autism does she have as to what kind of dog will best fit. Is she a very vocal ,roughkind or the very quiet ,gentle or in between . Once this is determined thinking what dog is a better match to her needs will be good help .

Most pets who get this issue would be PTS , I doubt a vet would question the food . Although there was a similar issue in Europe with dry food not available here so plausible

They are just as high energy and needy Although a lot comes down to the owner . We have boarded a few powerful,agile and come in varying shapes and sizes but wouldn’t consider them low energy at all ,infact a Staffy is milder and we also board a lot them

There a plenty sold but make sure you pay the extra for quality ,that means quality mesh sown correctly . Most are cheap and nasty and I would not trust leaving my dog in. I had the noztonoz brand and they where good but opted to sell them as they get hot,weren’t any lighter than my good wire crates and my wires where just safer and easier to hang the water bucket

The nutriscan tells you what are a higher / lower risk for your dog and what type of reaction level so you can then feed based on the results . By the the time you buy various foods and supplements it’s a cheaper more accurate guideline

In alll fairness the staffy pup is bigger & stronger than your Dachie. The dachie has returned back too its home to a new pup that has no off switch or its own time out area & the Dachie also doesn't have its own time out /retreat area. These dogs will never be best friends ,chances are the Dachie will most likely be very overwhelmed as time goes by so in reality i would not be expecting these two to live happily ever after but setting up a lifestyle that means both dogs are independent off each other unless people are home . The Dachies personality is already set ,its enjoyed a peaceful lifestyle & not had to share ,its a massive change for an older dog . Your Dachie will get frustrated in trying to put it in its place because of the size difference & the dachie will be fearful if its not feeling a sense of calm & control . Personally i think puppy schools are crap unless the instructor is very experienced & is setting all owners up for adult successful not just an hr free for all & teaching pups to do what they want with no self control. We have big & small dogs here & whilst both parties interact its rare there left together & our oldies always when new litters or pups are about have a safe area set up from the very start so there not affected in anyway . Your pup just wants to play ,in hindsight it would have been better to had the two together from day 1 instead of seperating to another house as the Staffy has a confidence in the home & the Dachie has returned to a puppy that has grown more & got its self established . Managed the household & ensure the Staffy is socialized in a productive manner for life skills . The biggest thing you need to be mindful is the Staffy doesn't damage your Dachies back with rough play at his age

I would certainly contact the Rotti club in your state ,explain all the facts and I’m sure they will be a wealth of knowledge in assisting

Is what happened on this pups return that important to you ? If your expecting a cheaper dog as it’s older then it’s most likely the wrong relationship for you . 12 months is not old . As to what each breeder does on a pup/older dog return is up to them and what is discussed between the two parties and the contract . Are you worried if you return the dog you won’t get your money back as honestly this is a strange post

Maybe consider getting a nutriscan done to see what foods to avoid .

All the dogs showed great .Given most people have never been to Crufts they have no idea how overwhelming & intimidating the main ring can be ,the massive over head screen is often the first thing the dogs see,cameras ring side clicking away,spotlights,crazy noise & a very very long day of waiting around listen to the stupid things joe public say . Exercising your dogs there is near impossible & battling the crowds to get out the right door to toilet outside if your dogs wont go in the inside pens is a whole new battle .

The advice is correct ,stop training .The dog is reliant on you to be the brains and train and manage correctly ,if you can’t it’s time to stop and reassess but not at the expense of the dog

For elderly dogs teaching them it’s okay to use an indoor toilet is often easy or setting up a toilet approved area . We have sensor lights through our house for the dogs ( these lights come on if the power goes off ) but we have a doggy door with 24/7 access which the oldies use . We have had the odd 14/15 that would have an accident so we do set up a it’s alright option for night ,a carpet runner in our case was easy to teach the geriatrics to use and they do ,hose off easy peasy .We are tiled so not the end off the world

Our geriatrics get milk and farex as there last meal topper and they all thrive and very content overnight ,our oldest is 15 . We find the food to heavy ,our oldies may get 3/4 meals including there milk

Problem is you wont know there is an infection until its too late . We would use antibiotics . But your choice your risk factor

Health issues are not elimated by buying from a breeder but a breeder who health tests the parents are hoping to minimize the risk . There is no guarantee . No different than humans who produce a child with health issues OCD can be owner created it can also be a breed related issue so the blame can be both ways . Bottle feeding is very common especially supplementing a large litter or assisting a bitch lacking in milk early on.Bottle feeding doesn’t mean anything sinister just part of helping a litter survive or thrive .

Spay coats are an issue but cavie coats still need work and the effort you put in is the end result. We clip most pet cavies off by request as the owners want the breed not the coat . Those that leave the coat do ask for the slippers (feet) to be trimmed off which I do t have an issue with as a pet especially in winter . Clipping off encourages the crappy/ dull undercoat to grow more which sheds even more,knots more and the coat never looks shiny or healthy . The reality is your either prepared to brush or your not .would soo er clip a cavie off than have to dematt them . You don’t have to clip the top coat off though but can certainly trim the underbelly and feathers to be more practical in a puppy length so still retaining the look

They come in 4 colours white . The teacup Mini have been bred for many years on Kangaroo island & where sold via a Pet shop in Perth for many years . We have yet to see one as there bred in parti colour,brown & other various colours.The ones in Oz have been imported from the US but not sure if they really took off,think the breeder now breeds Schnoodles as well. In Russia at the Schnauzer club shows they do reconize other other colours ,i think its liver & liver /tan

I would have alarm bells that the breeder had an issue before you got here . Personally I would never trust 2 girls that hate each other and no amount of training will help . This sounds like a management plan long term
