Should also have asked . What sort of dog do they want long term. Obviously any cute puppy is easy to fall for but what expectations do they have of there dog as an adult . Are they prepared to brush and pay a groomer . Do they want to go walking daily or more a lounge lizard if we miss a walk the world won’t end . Inside/outside dog . Maybe get a list of what they want from there dog and easier to pick some suitable options

Agree not desexing but generally a pup pushing the boundaries .Pup is still teething so chewing is normal ,have all the teeth fallen out or dies pup still have some double teeth . Pup is reaching an age of confidence and wanting to experience new things even if it’s not what behaviour we want ,just stick to good honest direction and boundaries . Sounds very normal just a new stage of working with the new skills your little one is trying

Crate all day is typical in the US but not Australia especially in areas with no fencing . I own Gundogs and would not crate that long and yes you are expecting too much at this age ,the problem is when her personality gets stronger, more confident or bolder with age people always say but they can do all this so there just being naughty or annoying there not . Her life at present revolves around living in a crate or training ,no real puppy free time to be that free spirited Gundog and at this point your training her to not cope outside depending on what your long term plan is during the day . Yes being mindful of neighbours is very important but keep in mind your dog is not being exposed to outside noises or the ability to cope on her own ,you are teaching her to be reliant on you to do everything and in a breed that can be Velcro personality you may regret in a few months time and especially with winter coming up and then the neighbours will complain. At this stage her crate is her backyard and being let out is on your terms so I totally get why she is whining in that moment ,in a crate all night ,a walk which doesn’t equate to freedom in her home then back in crate ,dog is learning the crate is becoming too much and she is wanting more free time . And yes all my dogs are crate trained as they fly, travel in the car in a crate ,sit at shows in a crate and when unwell or had surgery but too much crate time is that too much . I have owned 16 gundogs and even my young Gundogs at shows reach an age where there crate is like getting cabin fever and need some mental excitement and move this legs

This is very true as a groomer I can’t tell how many groomer shop because there poodle cross has taken on the poodle look and they think a groomer can create anon poodle look

I agree your expecting way too much from this pup and some times you can over train things to the point you become boring and repetitive and the dog switches off .. Remember there is no such thing as annoying habits ,she isn’t going out of her way to annoy you so she is not understanding a step in the training which often happens when you expect more at that age or compare to other pups,Each breed is different so never compare just work with your dog and it’s level and abilities . It sounds like you do a lot of training each day ,what is her fun being a puppy activities .Gundogs love there owners sometimes too much German Wires are more independent than there smooth cousins but great dogs . What training steps have you taught for recalls ,have you done the long lines or are you expecting the pup too simply know better ,keep in mind at present your training an unreliable by letting her offleash so it’s taught behaviour . keep in mind the pup is like a toddler at 18 months and experience ting it to know ,it doesn’t work that way and be prepared for various behaviour challenges as she gets older . As to the morning keep in mind she has spent all night in the crate ,gets walked back in crate ,for some puppies this is a lot of wasted time to enjoy there morning, where does pup spend it’s time when your out . I have gundogs and they love there crates but it’s a fine line between too much time in pups and them enjoying there morning free runs and learning to enjoy there backyard and being independent. Independance is an important life skill too teach

Portuguese Water Dog would be the closest option

Your dog isn’t being socialised ,it’s being a bully with bad manners . Dog parks should never be an easy option for dog ownership ,long day at work was that prior to getting the dog so nothing you weren’t unaware off but getting a dog means doing the work at puppy stage for long term success . Obedience is teaching you how to be a good owner and that starts with basics ,if he decides to start this bad manners onleash what is your plan . Obedience is training you to be a responsible owner and this starts with step A . A dog that hasn’t been taught self control is no fun and like most I will not use dog parks due to feral dogs and owners who won’t take responsibility for there dog . Consider the worse case scenario, issues escalate ,your boy picks on the wrong dog or the wrong owner .Dog parks require dogs by law to be under control, This is just like going to work and spending your dog with a work place bully ,he may also not be a bully but a dog who is stressed by the over stimulation of a park and doesn’t know how to react . Being socialised means more than just running around ,it’s about feeling confident, relaxed in the outside world with good self control

House trained dog going toilet indoors
Dogsfevr replied to AimeeDoug's topic in General Dog Discussion
House trained can vary bigtime ,our dogs are house trained but we have a doggy door open 24/7 . Another persons idea of house trained is a dog asking to go out. If we place an older dog out we stress to anyone without a doggie door the effort of training they need to put in they don’t want a door . As to the OP what sort of doggy door do you have ? I know plenty of dogs who have been put off using the door because it is a heavy door and has hit them or caught there leg . We use butchers clear plastic . If a hard door consider strapping it up to see if it happily wants to go in and out again -
Agree salon grooming & show grooming is very different & there would be a small number of people that truly understand show grooming . Even many that compete in competitive grooming comps often have a different mindsight on breed prep compared to a show groomer who is more aware of hiding faults & enhancing qualities . Is your breed a Westie??If so there is a grooming seminar in june or july in Melbourne by a US Terrier groomer who shows which would be a great start . As for salon grooming i would suggest looking at where you plan to work & they type of grooms you mainly want to do & go from there . There are certainly some crazy prices out there & a few online courses that still require you to get hands on work so finding one that best fits is often hard . Some of the really good groomers do there own day training with plenty of hands on stuff depending on what your skills lever is at present

Depends on how much you want to spend and the skills , Salon skills or pet owner skills

Two boisterous Labrador brothers

Do these dogs get walked or leave the property or have any excitement outside of the property ? -
Loving her means not allowing her to do damage ,if she did kill your other dog would the love still be there . This is a young dog that has a future BUT that future could end up pear shape or fabulous depending on what is in her best interests. Multi dog households are time consuming & simple reality is not all get on so you need to be committed to a training programme, committed to setting up two separate living areas & committed to spreading your time for all . I totally understand this is the worse time for you to make a decision on what may/may not happen but in the end your decision needs to be based on the 3 dogs & what is the best for them . Both decisions could end up breaking your heart but one decision could mean alot more .In the end only you can decide BUT for starters don't ever feel guilty if rehoming is the option ,shit happens & it takes a responsible owner to make the right decision BASED solely on there dogs

Depends what your reporting to the police .The abuse of the human?? The council is the one who a report should be made to regarding an offleash dog not under control

Frenchie pup w cancer - breeder responsibility?
Dogsfevr replied to Alyssa's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Agree with this . Just curious on the $5000 vet bill ,that is highway robbery . besides the lump and biopsy what else has made the bill so big . I had a dog with a lump removed / biopsy and cost just under $400 ,37 kg dog ,9 yrs old ,18 months ago Came back begein with clear margins ,the breed has a higher risk of cancer in this area . Have lost a dog with mass cell that we brought older ,had for 4 months ,No signs what so ever what was lurking until a suspicious small lump appeared by which time it was too late .Not the breeders fault they would never known and no signs that you could question ,we went to the vet due to the lumps location at very early stages ,a shit happens thing -
Your vet an give you a referral or options . I have had experience with back issues and surgery and to be honest my experience was something I would think twice before heading Down that path again. The questions you need to ask is if you get an MRI / CT are you prepared to look at surgery or would it be because you want to know .The cost to have one done just because I would have to justify . Spasms are muscle related and a vet can’t solve that issue ,painful in there own right . If the dog is moving differently to compensate for its back or is finding it harder to get up n down other muscles work harder . Pinched muscle is painful and needs releasing ,pain tablets won’t to do that . Using rock tape to help support the area helps bigtime as do muscle relaxers. Bowen people who work on animals are out there even asking a more reputable about people close to your area ,they will assist . Numerous ones are also covered by some pet insurers . I have a dog who gets spasms Has the vet rayed the back at all
-
I would be finding a new vet . Spasms is generally muscles and I doubt the onus or will work . You need to see a Bowen person who works on muscles

Or the potential buyer can check agents there end as well

You need to contact agents for prices

Pembroke Welsh Corgi Breeders - Rude Breeders
Dogsfevr replied to JNinness's topic in General Dog Discussion
I actually think the tone of the OP post is rude so chances are if approaching breeders aka humans with the same tone then its not going to end well .There is no special way to approach breeders BUT many potential people often dont like the answers if told there is a waitlist & you can't guarantee if there will be a pup for them . Many of the emails we get go to junk mail due to no headings, weird headings or strange hotmail addresses so i can guarantee we don't always reply to everyone & just because someone sent an email doesn't mean it arrives at the other end . Like many we are getting NBN work done in our area & it has affected our internet & in the past have had no internet ,if no reply then send another polite email or phone .Contact the breed clubs & make a relationship with a breeder .You don't find a way to get a pup you create a relationship to ensure the breeder is the right one for you & the breeder will ensure you are the right person for a dog & a corgi If your wanting a set sex/colour then that will limit choices greatly Corgis are not mass produced, you need to put your name down & wait .If your not prepared to wait then that issue is up too you . I would suggest a wait time of 12 months or more very normal . As to people going to pet shops that to me says more about people not being serious about there future friend or expecting a pup now because there entitled to one..It also says they dont care where it came from or the living conditions plus often they can buy on credit card I guess it comes down to two sides of the story -
You need a vet behavourist who can use medications not just some training .Your running out of time with the flying part so you need to start at the top in a hurry
-
Personally I would not trust 3 bitches together where issues are starting . At the very least the youngest member needs more enrichment for her age so good walks, training at fun at home ,things that will amuse her brain .She is young and finding her feet ,the others are old and past the tolerating a younger pushy person . Yes trainers are expensive but there also cheaper than a vet bill or the potential of something going wrong whilst your out . No one can say what is the best path for these dogs on the net but we can certainly say the outcome could be be bad . It could have to do with the loss of your partner if he was the more respected human in the pack,it could be due to the bitch in season creating hormonal tension it could simply be 3 s a crowd and needs managing
-
I would not use a Chiro but a Bowen person who massages the muscles . I would also look at muscle relaxers,my dog gets Schuessler muscle relaxer for a back injury ,all my show dogs get Bowen
-
For what issues ,you have limited choices so who has your vet referred you too
-
3 females is often a case of disaster waiting to happen in certain breeds more so . You have a bitch who is in season which often creates a hormonal mood amongst a pack . Chances are the younger bitch is trying the waters but in all honesty i would suggest prevention especially if your at work . The only issues we have ever had where girls & two who lived happily suddenly had one squabble & things where never the same . Whilst we are set up for multi dogs we opted to place one of the girls with people who where after an older girl & previously had one of our pups, she lived to 15 & very happily & the pack structure here went back to normal with no issues . No ones fault just two personalities who clashed one day out of the blue . It could be due to your partner no longer being there & him having the respect of the dogs ,it also could very well happened with him around . You also have to keep in mind you have two senior dogs who want to enjoy the simple things in life & are slowing up,you have a young bitch who is just coming into her adult life & wanting to enjoy playing & all the activities your seniors most likely don't so you need to manage the youngest for her age needs & boredom ,creating issues can be part of the fun without understanding the consequences . So what things do you do with the youngest to make her life fun, brain games, exercise etc etc .
