I would also go to the chemist & buy some probiotics to re introduce the good gut bacteria. You may also find this dog is very sensitive to all the moves, change off environments etc etc. & things jsut slowly build up. For some dogs the change off water can be enough to produce the finest runs out.

Obedience is about teaching the owners how to handle there dog BUT the obedience class is only as good as the effort people put in during the week. It was amazing how many people presume one lesson each week will teach the dog. You go to your class then you have a week to do the homework. The reason your pup is being a monster at present is most likley due to you not kowing what to do & this is were the classes come in especially given you have a breed that can become extremely powerful. The younger you start the easier it is

Has he had fleas in the last 6 months.Coat texture change is normally due to a problem (ie fleas, clipped are for surery, hotspot etc etc)

I see nothing wrong with training her using her dinners. As a matter of fact I, and many other people, do it very often. May i ask does your dog get feed from a bowl or do you solely use the training sessions to feed an entire meal?? With show training we use treats BUT there meal is there meal where they get there goodies etc etc. I guess what im looking at is could not feed a ideal meal to my setters via training only. When i train for the ring treats arent the sole reward as im not training them to perform for food ,im training them to perform for the pleasure & what ever the treat maybe .(toy, squeaky, voice, perform a trick ). I dont want the dogs to feel that food is what there performing for & then be faced with a scenario of not having that trained reward there for the dogs expectations & that they will only do what i want in exchange.

m sure your "high-up obedience training friends" have their methods that work, so far, this HAS worked in our puppy. We don't feed the dog twice a day in a bowl, we train her as we feed her. The clicker only gets used when she does what we want. It not a case of methods that work its a case of meals being meals & training be training. All im getting at is the pup isnt getting her meals in a bowl but from clicker only she is most likely working more for hunger than the click. All the people i now who do clicker do not feed /work it this way. There meals are exactly that & there working treats are different. I would be very concerned by not feeding from a bowl or defining meals that you are teaching her to eat from the hand & on click only??Which could be an issue down the track. "I have notice that she doesnt hungrily take the food out of our hands anymore " I would consider this to be because she was getting feed from a bowl & 2 meals for a growing puppy not getting a feed when training happens . A hungry dog doesnt work better for a clicker
-
Why would you even have used a clicker if she was NOT doing what you wanted? The clicker marks the point at which the dog is doing what you want. I think what Becks is saying the dog didnt respond to the clicker at that time so it shouldnt have been used presuming you used it a couple of times. I think what you need to remember is 5 months & perfect CANNOT be used together.. As already said be grateful your mum looked after them .im sure having a pupy wasnt easy for them either & they would have done what was convient for them . Although are you saying your pup never gets feed from a bowl & clicker is the only way you feed it?? I have friends high up in obedience & very much clicker uses but there dogs get feed there meals from there bowl & there clicker treats are solely for that purpose.

With white products its trial & error. Some coats asorb it badly others make the coat dry & harsh. Sard can make the coat very dry which will make it easier for the pee to sink in. If its just the legs that he is peeing on you can apply Brile cream. My white dogs are maintanced bath in normal stuff to simply remove the pee & not allow it to build up or break the coat.On show days i use kelco for the body & animal house for the legs.

Its simple maintance.. I have white long coats & the pee feathers are bathed nightly ,full bath weekly

she wont listen when she's yelled at (in fact often she choses to run crazy around the room instead of listening to us Do you listen if someone is yelling at you or do your prefer to respect someone who is calm & understanding?? Dogs are the same.If your yelling it means the dog has switched off to the verbal overload as it has no idea what your talking about or expect, "She's also starting to respect us when we yell at her if she does something naughty." So she listens to one type of yelling but not another?? You dont need to yell .This is a 9 week old pup that is totally reliant on you to teach it.It will do naughty things & thats when you teach & earn respect but if all your doing is yelling your just razzing the dog up with your voice tone & getting no response to all tha vocal overload.Your voice is the one item you have with you at all times but you must use it wisely .This is a dog it doesnt understand conversations, yelling or anything else .infact it most likely looks at you like your silly & goes on with being a pup. You need to use your voice TONE to differ praise to respect but you need to use precise simple words & everyone in the house must do the same. " For example, I've had to go back to uni this week which means she's being left in the bathroom, with her crate in there (with the door open). When she gets home, she's pretty excited and goes nuts." Ofcourse she will go nuts, being locked in the bathroom on your own is very boring & shih tzus being people dogs thrive on showing off & being with you.The pup is just using up its energy from being confined. When you get home do you take pup start outside & ignore it or do you make a big deal in your greeting & then take pup out?? Be calm pups/adults having zoomies is very normal & a away to express themselves & very rarely do they listen in those 5 mins but once your pup is into a routine & has adjusted to the humans that follow a consistant & rewarding rouine your pup will settle quickly

Obedience is a must plus being the breed it is ensuring it has alot of mental stimulation.Kelpies do make great pets but there not lap dogs & get bored & frustrated very quickly

Do Dogs Get Headaches?
Dogsfevr replied to Gomez the Norfolk's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
When my boy is truley off his head is very hot. I would say yes, they still have a brain like us so i would imagine they still suffer the same types of pain especially headaches -
Has the vet considered doing a Myolgram dye x-ray to see the exact damage?? Would your vet do the surgery or would you be referred to a specialist(many do refer so the cost is way more)? I wouldnt consider surgery until you have completely understodd what it about, the outcomes bad/good & all the after care etc etc. It is important if you do take this path that you are fully aware I have had a dog that did have back surgery. He walked in but couldnt walk out. After 6 months he still couldnt use his back legs by 9 months f=after intense Physio by us at home he started to walk again. During his time of not walking he also couldnt toilet & we had to do that for him.wrap his back legs to not allow drag sores & keep him functioning & not lay around due to bed sores fluid build up etc etc. This was a very fit, lean dog who was in peak condition but the surgery went horribly wrong. Luckily due to his condition prior to going in & the fact we worked from home we could give him alot of rehab time but it wasnt easy & very time consuming. What did i do wrong .didnt believe my doggy chiro who was right wait & be patient .

phone the kennels & inform that your not sure what it is but your dog is doing thiis .They then can keep an eye on the other clients,. they may have had isues at the kennels & not told you are they have no idea or it could very well be due to the barking . They could have been bathed in something different.Maybe sprayed with a perfume type cologne or simply reaction to something different

Hills Science Diet - Eagle Pack
Dogsfevr replied to Sticks1977's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I have to ask why did you feel the opinion of the sales person was better than your breeders??? Hills would be the last on my list to ever consider using due to the wheat & corn content? -
The right kennel your dog will receive more contact than it will with your flat mate & some one popping in. Also as school holidays have just finished it is often a slightly quieter time especially as easter is early this year. We run kennels & this week has been bliss with nearly all the xmas dogs leaving giving us time to do things & have a little break before the onset again. The reality is you need to check out kennels now so if you need there services you already now what there facilities are, what they require, costs etc. We actually find the dogs go home so much more confidient as there allowed to be dogs & they thrive in that respect. Many people create sooks which makes it hard on the dog but in the right kennels your pup will enjoy itself

Vets will do this as alast resort .We have had 6 inches removed of our greys tail many years ago due to the damage & infection ,all other avenues where tried but in the end it had to be done

The first rule is your son SHOULDNT be near the dog when feeding. Something has happened if you say he has suddenly changed & being an only dog doesnt mean it shouldnt happen, actions of people can create food protecting just as easily & if not worse than having another dog around. Having said that there is no excuse for food aggression but in our house feed time is done quietly & quickly with no interfereance & we can take any bowl away from the 15 dogs . We do not interefere with there eating BUT they learn through other avenues what respect for food is.Not snatching, rewards for show training/obedience. They understand snatching/stealing is not acceptable but they never feel the need to as food time is a calm non threatening time in our house. We feed all our large breeds on stands ,yes there is alot of info for the pros/cons of bloat feeding this way but we have yet to see a report that seriously proves it increases it any more than bad management prior to meal time, Also having a large breed pups we find it is less stressful on there front joints, chasing a bowl around & basically having difficulties eating. Your pup needs his meal time to be without distractions but he can also earn it by sitting/standing/shaking hands/drop anything that requires him to obey you & in return he gets his meal or treat & he also need sto start obedience . The dog has no idea why you are putting your hands & fett in the bowl.He got told off you did your bit but the dog learnt nothing except maybe to protect his bowl more. Its not a case of battle of will but a case of teaching your dog nothing comes free & with reward & a job he will successfully get something

What Do You Feed Your British Bulldogs/brachy Dogs?
Dogsfevr replied to bulldog4me's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Personally i think you believe Bulldogs are a special needs breed & there not. like ANY dog BONES/NECKS should be supervised when given. What age was the dog when you got it & what did the previous owner/breeder feed/suggest. Bulldogs dont grow differently at all.No matter what the breed a good balanced diet is required for long term health & what you are feeding now isnt useful at all & there is a chance your dog may refuse to eat the Bulldog RC,just because its for them doesnt guarantee they will eat it . You need to deciude on a diet & stick with & start to set the rules of your dogs diet not the other way around Also large print in forumns is seen as very annoying -
I will be over-dominating until I get total control and affection I dont agree with that.respect is earnt by both.If your girl isnt the affectionate kind you can not make her or break her . Total control is about you being the leader, you dont need to dominate just use simple methods to get good old fashioned respect. Some people try to dominate there pups to the point they break there spirit ,respect & trust in there owner.
