Do you use any spot ons??

Have you contacted the breeder & exolained what the vet has said?? If your breeder uses agood vet i would very surprised they have missed it but now plenty of vets who diagnise murmours when they dont have them. Speak with the breeder & then go to the vet for another follow up & they should be explaining the grade etc etc or atleast suggest a heart specialist whoi can certify it

Mannners starts the day they come home. Your little dog has every right not to enjoy a bositrous pups company & giving the little one time out or a safe area is a must. You dont want your dog to become aggressive nor teach the pup to be that way either. Playing with a pup should be in moderation due to them growing ,some pups just dont now when to stop & there is atime to casually step in & do a time out for all parties.. Dont presume she is dominat. Dominance & lack of manners can look the same but not be the same. Biting is totally unacceptable but one always must look at how the took the item. Some people dont give the dog the same respect in removing an item.It works both ways in ensuring both have an understanding of what is expected & allowed. At present it sounds like a typical outgoing goldie baby that hasnt been taught the basics. Its time for obedience & its time for you to not be so convient for baby sitting.

No it isnt the kennel fault as a client has brought it in. Canine cough is readily caught anywhere & it is the most annoying part of being a kennel owner because it only takes one dog to come in & it goes through all dogs. Vaccinated doesnt stop your dog getting it. Your dogs could have been infected prior too or someones dog was a carrier with no symptons but it most certainly isnt the kennels fault.

Settrlvr - do you not have any problems with biting dogs, spinning dogs etc. Biting dogs are muzzled.I would never rely on a grooming restraint to stop a biter. Spinning.sitting dogs are just part of the deal & we just spend a little more time to educate them but with the right handling they learn very quickly. Some dogs in restraints absolutely flip out .Its a case of making the next experience a better one.

never used them with the groomers or showdogs. yes dogs have jumped & hang themselves or frieghtened themselves badly. Many use them with no issues at all but there not for me. You can get the arm or body frame in australia from petnetwork

Google Poodles in asutralia. It s an aussie website for all poodle lovers & showies. It also has a page about trims & colours with photos that will show you exactly what is what. I agree though contact your breeder .If they sold it as a show potentail pup they should be assisting you as much as possible. If they are showies themselves they would have plenty of grooming charts etc to send you. Otherwise ask some breeders about good poodle groomers who can do show trims to get your pups outline started,it wont be cheap but well worth the expense

We use a # 40 with the combs The attachments are only as successful as the coat in question. Some dogs whilst having length dont have any thickness so it doesnt guarantee you the length you expect. You can get blades that do the same lengths that often work better

Rabies Vaccination Information
Dogsfevr replied to KodasMum's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
PETS Scheme i believe requires in total 9 months prior to departure for the all clear. Start crate training your dog as soon as possible. As for companies what you want is a company that nows what there doing especially paperwork wise. It depends what arrangements you are planning such as the dog travelling on the same flight?? Or boarding it after you have left. As for rabies any vacc can cause issues but you dont have any choice with rabies. Start contacting all the companies as the prices will vary dramactically & get the ball rolling for booking flights etc as not all airlines fly animals -
We do anal gland checks on all clients & inform the owners if theres a ig build up. Its easy to do in the bath & no big deal. Not all groomers do them, some will charge more. She could be in season & it could be a UTI

pin brushes with bobbles :D I have pin brushes here that have lasted 20 years & used whilst blowdrying/

The thing to remember is ANY food can cause the runs. Its an individual case of what each dogs tolerance is to different foods. I cant eat the white of an egg as it make me spew on its own but scrambled im fine
-
Cant do any worse than feeding supacoat with puppy milk. At 5 months they should be eating a good array of foods. Due to staffies being prone to skin issues i would watch what meat you give & wouldnt try beef. The milk maybe fermenting whilst soaked & the smell off putting to the dogs. Was this the diet the breeder suggested??

Have you had/our have bitches due in season. We have male here that in the last year has decided to eat his frontleg hair off at this time & then decided the others needed pruning, luckiliy the other are retirees. He never does it any other time

Josh Is Sick With Kennel Cough/pancreatitus
Dogsfevr replied to whatevah's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I agree the vac doesnt mean it saved him. Infact 3 of my dogs had it badly when vacclast year due to it being so bad i decided to not get it done & he never got it. The dog in question actually had it 3 times & the breed is well known for getting it badly. We have found after countless years in the kennel industry that either can get it.Whilst we prefer dogs with C5 & encourage it we will take dogs with C3/4 & have found over the years the C3 to fair better but have also found friends who strictly take C5 only dogs get it 2-3 times every year . In the 15 yrs of having kennels we have had it through 4 times. Some dogs do badly either way.some vets go totally over the top with treatment & scare the living crap out of there owners & treat with stuff that will have little benefit. -

in WA a number of dogs have been hit with pneumonia. We are hoping this isnt the sign of a bad winter for KC etc etc -
Okay first your pom needs to be treated with same respect as any other breed whether it be a GSD,lab or cocker.Cute & fluffy doesnt mean allowed to do what it wants. Toilet training is all about human effort & for the first week pup has had no idea what is unacceptable or what is desired.Your pup can have free range providing all the humans are diligent with the training & that means taking it outside every hr & encourahing the use of a doggy door. If the dog doesnt have outside access or it isnt an option then you need to set up an area in the house that will be its spot for permant toileting but even then teaching it to go outside is the best option from day 1. It sounds like with the nipping that its starts as a game because the actions it does arent from normal nothing actions So either the pup is being over picked up & fussed or someone is blowing in its face/razzing it up & then its no longer fun or its a reaction to the aplha thing. Eye balling any dog will not win a battle & its not required For starters if hes in one of his play moods dont pick the pup up,only pick pup up when its calm. Poms arent stupid but the problem is many people treat them like little fifi dogs & set no rules . As for the puppy pen used correctly it will be a great toy but you are the one settings the boundries not the dog. Like we say to people you wouldnt accept this behaviour from children yet people allow there dogs to get away with murder. You dont have to be firm or over the top just simple consisatnt rules that apply to commensense behaviour.

How Can I Put Some Weight On My Gsp?
Dogsfevr replied to GSPVX's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
We find many GSP have trouble maintaining weight & the problem as you have found increase the food & they get the runs. Personally i find pasta & rice a total waste.Supacoat never seems to do anything for any dogs we have tried it on. We do use proplan but some are better for weight but having said that neither biscuits may suit this girl. Roo meat is great but being a lean meat i wouldnt use it for weight but great for skin issues etc etc. Mince depends if you mean the stuff for the supermarket. I would find a stockfeed or similiarthat sells good pet meat especially mutton. But some dogs can also havea food absorption issue & no matter what you feed they dont put weight on although there are products to assist -
Beef is well known for causing skin issues thats why we say avoid it like the plague. The pasta aswell is also a skin issue causer. We put in all our paperwork not to feed beef as a main meat as it causes stomach upsets & skin troubles. Awful stuff for dogs

My first question would be how much interation with other dogs does your current dog have(this has nothing to do with breed but ability to live in harmony)?? What are you hoping the second dog will give the family that your staffy at present cant?/ Where does the staffy live at present & would the routine change if a second dog came home??? I now we all say our dogs are spoilt but there is well trained, respectful its a dog spoilt or then there is treated like a child, not like a dog with no manners spoilt?? How do your children interact with your staffy??
-
i dont use double sided either as i dont like the finish it gives. We use the wahl but the size doesnt worry me its more about the teeth. Buy the wrong ones & you will hack the coat out especailly if this is a showdog your doing & want the most natural look after trimming
-
The use of powders should be very minimal & i would only use it as a desperate measure until bath time. I occasionally need to use powder on my showdogs but it is washed out the next day so iit doesnt build up or irriate. I have used baby powder but no by choice. We use potatoe flour & gebnerally only at shows if the dog has weed o its coat before the hair being tied up or got wet in the rain & dirt from mud/wet grass..

I was always under the impression that clomicalm was a 6 month process of retraining. We board a dog here who has been on it for 3 yrs & does nothing at all. Do you want another dog or are you waiting for the drugs to work??
-
Im with Enry all our pups are taught asap the doggy door & outside. If an apartment dog than obvioulsy it hasto be taught where to go but otherwise the quicker they learn outside the quicker the training is especially as many breeders dont use either for training as such

We managed to secure the Oldfield but it was more hassle than i needed & the hose melting was a pain. When i did up my first dog with it i went from a normal hose to a pigmy size. We have used the Liberty for well over 15 years .We also had a simpson supajet that was fine but expensive to repair. I havent used the double K but we do swear by there clippers(have 2 sets). We also have the oldfield cyclinder dryer which is great for GSD.labs, clip offs etc etc & great for getting the water off on a cold winter day on the right coat. For my showdogs i prefer less power as i find to harsh dries the coat
