Stop patting her whilst eating ,seriously i do not see what the need is for people to annoy dogs at eating time & then cant figure out why they have issues. The dog has no clue what you are wanting from it & has now been forced to protect the one item it feels is being threatened. The bowl was taken away but i dare say again the dog has no clue why except next time to growl more or re act worse. It seems many people use this method but get it very wrong & end up creating an unpleasant behaviour that is owner created . All dogs in this household get peace during eating time & as such respect us if there is ever a need to remove a bowl, bone, beef hide because they have never been placed in a position of confusion & encouraged to react to the unknown..

if i remember correctly i think the ideal temp is 27 but if i had a pool in the back mine would be in there asap doing laps.

Aslo smell his feet. Many dogs get chronic stinky feet instead of an all over body odour & washing in wnite vinegar helps greatly

Be patient,He is 10 weeks ,out on his own & has no clue what is right/wrong & that he is safe outside.

I agree with the others, you are making it harder for yourself instead of simple. All you need is a simple collar & light lead, practice & patience. It sounds like you are expecting an awful lot but have the pup very confused. There is no reason why you cant walk further than the drive way.lead training is all about experiences & teaching them as they progress through new distractions

im not a fan of puppy schools as too many are run by unqualified people. Some vets certainly have qualified people so the lessons are educational but many are free for alls where in many cases owners dont return after the first lesson or end up with a pup that is terrified . I would be asking what qualifications the puppy teacher has . For many vets puppy preschool is about pushing there vet & sucking you in.For the small mniority its about doing right by the new owners. Even if its free ask questions.

Size makes no difference.House training doesnt stop in my opinion until 12 months. Whilst ours are always good by 10 weeks they are always still taught whats right & wrong until maturity. One wee outside doesnt mean trained & whilst pups learn quickly when the communication between dog & owner stops without them fully knowing right from wrong you will get relapse By allowing yours dog offleash out the front you are breaking the law & also placing your dogs at risk of being hit by a car or being a nuisance to other people. If there running away then they go back onlead because they obviously dont havea good recall or understanding of coming back I have never heard a vet say indoors for 10 days, all certainly say minimize any risk to there stitches or infection. It truly sounds like you need to go back to basics

Does The Amount Of Food I Am Feeding My Lab Puppy Sound Ok?
Dogsfevr replied to snr's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
i dont weigh my dogs food never have.Does your boy have skin rolls on his shoulder area & near his bum/tail area??If he does this is also a good sign of being overweight We tell people one important thing, the more you feed the more they expect. Any dog can always be hungry & it isnt just a Lab thing but when people feed a little here & little there it isnt for the dog benefit but to make the humans feel better.Dogs learn quickly that if they scab long enough they will get rewarded for it. In our house to get a treat means doing a job ,could be bugger all type of thing but there being rewarded for doing something not for sucking up. -
You still shouldnt get a residue . i have even with my own show dogs bathed fully & clipped & head off to a show . Personally there is no easy option with clipping.

These arent designed for poodles coats . If your dogs are ending up oily then you have a problem ,either your over oiling your blades & not washing them properly or something else. I groom fulltime & never end up with oily dogs

Does The Amount Of Food I Am Feeding My Lab Puppy Sound Ok?

Firstly dont leave biscuits down all day.Meals should be eaten in a set time then picked up.meals should be given to each dog & thats there daily quota. If your allowing grazing then you truly have no idea how much he is eating in relation to his daily diet. As for how much is too much there is no easy answer because each dog is different but as already said they need to grow slowly Some dogs need more than others, some still need 3 meals others 2 meals is just right. In reality your dogs are getting 4 meals aday -
Moving Into A House That Had Other Dogs... Advice Please?
Dogsfevr replied to gmc's topic in Puppy Chat
The reality is you will never now the status of a backyard.Parvo can last for a long time in the ground & you would never now if in the last few years there has been parvo in that yard. I dare say if your renting with a dog your not going to have a lot of choices so only you can decide whether to nock back this place & wait -

2 dogs on a property is the legal number visitor or not when there are 3 you are over your numbers plain & simple. It may suck but it doesnt matter. Many a show person has been court out because of this. It only takes someone to complain & the rangers only need to sit & watch. The only legal way of being over your numbers is with a permit or pups up to 3 months i believe is the age anything after that is a 2 dog limit. If the OP is advertising then it will draw anyones attention to dog grooming business so ideally it would always be best to ask the local council of what the area rules are. No point haveing a good business then something happens & its no longer able to be done. If they do choice to continue then make sure your discreet & not draw over attention to the dogs coming in/out. We lived in the burbs for years over our numbers & a risk we where prepared to take.We where dob in either by a fellow dog person or the plumber & as a result moved to the kennel area that still has a 2 dog limit unless you apply for a kennel license. No license then its strictly 2 dogs -
Twice a year or however long the coat lasts. Some blow there coats very quickly . The thing to remember is even if you get someone to strip the coat out you still need to work on it weekly to maintain all that effort. Your dog may have a great coat & it can be partially striipped out & then maintained. Depending on what tools you have or are using can make the job very easy or much harder. We show a hand stripped breed .Whilst we run a grooming salon we dont strip out to bald though we will show people what they need & how to do or we will work on a coat . The coat ideally can only be stripped once its ready so it needs to be really blown for a full strip. If there is a new coat coming through underneath thast when you can do a partial strip & try to roll it
-
I would suggest contacting the griffon breeders in Perth as some get there dogs strip by a lady .Im not sure if she will do pets. Not sure how much your prepared to pay for this to be done as it wont be cheap. You cant ruin the coat as such with hand stripping you can certainly do a crap job & you learn each time but the key is you must work on the coat weekly to maintain a good coat, you could roll the coat if it has correct texture. Generally they wil be stripped back to bald skin once it has blown & done in sections as the back grows slower than the neck, bum & head

Tips On Developing Home Based Grooming Business
Dogsfevr replied to bal's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Huh?Surely it would only be breaking council reg's if the OP actually owned the dogs, not just grooming them (or even babysitting them). that's absurd if that is the case....... WA has always had a 2 dog limit you can apply for more which is very hard to come by,As this person is running a business from home one would presume all the business permits etc have been done. If for example the OP owns 2 dogs & then has clients dogs there the reality is you can only lie so many times. Remember it only takes one neighbour or cranky client to dob you in & some councils are worse. maybe absurd but that is how it works so one must be very careful. Obviously many will have 3 dogs on occasions & you can certainly get away with it but if your caught then you must be happy to accept the consequences -
Can You Reccomend A Groomer Please
Dogsfevr replied to joanne76's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
She will find very few who will let her stay. The dog would have to have a big issue to allow this happen as it isnt in the dogs interest to have the owner standing around & can make the exoerience more stressful & as most salons groom other dogs at the same time with multi groomers its also a safety distraction for them. We wont allow people to stay . -

Firstly make sure she has insurance. Also be aware if in the suburbs(WA) it is a 2 dog limit & if you own dogs already then add any clients there you are breaking council rules. We dont sell any major products.Find it too much hassle with the books & a pain to keep around,we prefer to send people off with list. What we do keep on hand is a small number of combs, brushes. -
yep very common & generally those in the know just get it fixed when it first happens as it does return. It could be a month latter, year latter or what ever. You can learn to push it back in but generally the more it pops out the bigger it gets. Our local vet does it . Tacking doesnt always last either & often the stich can annoying so generally the best option is to remove & it be all over. Some can accasionally end up with dry eye but you can simply use eye lubrication ointment from the chemist. We have never had one but i did breed a breed highly predisposed to them.I am fully aware from fellow breeders wher it has happened with what there experiences where & all started with the cream, pop it yourself ,the tack to get it out now. Shouldnt cost you a fortune & a specialist doesnt need to do it.

so did you leave them all day by your choice or did they groomer say how long they had to stay or did you drop off & pick up after a set time for there groom only?? As to mixing no it would never happen here.Clients are paying for a grooming service & if mixing was a thing they wanted to offer then they should be getting you to sign a contract such as doggy daycare etc etc
-
so how many hrs total a day does she spend. During work hrs can she not be left anywhere else??
