  1. Like others have said telling off was the worst thing to do. The dog has no idea what you want . If it isnt responding to you when call then you need to consider why. Many dogs hear the same old thing over & over again with no reaction from the owners. To put it bluntly the owners are either so boring that going to them in no fun or they hear so much vocal trash they cant determine what is expected or there told off when they do come back . Your pup needs to be taught & this is an ongoing process for life ,they will go through good & bad stages of listening but you need to praise the final result even if it took longer than you want. Your may nned to be more cheerful when calling ,make yourself more interesting than the object. Use your voice in different tones & when calling come it must sound different than the daily voice thats heard. Yes fixing the fence should be done asap. One day they,ll escape may not be so lucky
  2. She been spayed?? UTI infection otherwise

    Puppy Shedule

There is routine & there is too structured Our puppies are allowed to do way more & have no issues with toilet training.Training is all about allowing & watching.Pups must be allowed to investigate, explore that is how they learn. Weekends shouldnt be spent in the pen, there is no need to unless its a convince for you but the weekend should be the time pup gets to be with the family & your time to teach her to go outside toilets & not rely on the pen.Weekends is about teaching her right from wrong. Over use can lead to a false sense of achievement & lead to disappointment when the results expected arent there. The pen may minimise damage but if she is there 7 days a week she isnt learning right from wrong. Pups will chew things that is part of life, some never stop & do it all through adult life BUT providing your place is puppy proof the damage risk should be very low & the pup wil hurt themselves some worse than others but being out & about teaches them what areas are risky. I also agree that to many dogs are presumed to have sep anxiety when often its just normal behaiour that they grow out off but sometimes its more a case of the routine is so boring they grave for other attention. Like someone said, move the pen around, change the toys.Make it more mentally stimulating >remember it is avery boring sitting there so you need to create an environment that isnt the same everyday. The other thing is your pup will soon learn to either climb out or jump if it gets really bored so depending on how high the pen is be prepared to come home to puppy lose one day Your weekends should be allowing pup to stay outside for long periods or just be able to come in/out as it pleases & training to use the doggy door if you have one or training it to tell you when it needs to go out not confined
  4. We never do puppy vaccs of C4 or higher . Firs vacc is always C3 . Some vets though do the over kill of C6 or C7 & i think there is another after that. Now C7 is right form a small percentage of areas
  5. If she is staying in the laundry all day & then the laundry at night you may find its just all to much & the time in your room gives her & break & different area to be in in. What breed/How much time does pup get outside??
  6. brown ticks & all are fine & no need for meds but they breed like the plague so you need to decide if they have set up camp at home yet. Check inside th ears in the flaps, around the anus & between the toes, they love those spots .
  7. Have you spoken to the breeder?? Have you had her vet checked(ie bad tonsils) Have all her baby teeth falling out You say she wont when your home unless you hand feed,She has you well trained Do you leave food down all day when not there Is the diet what the breeder suggested or have you changed it What exactly do you feed
  8. the fact your vet does annual vacc & heartworm jab on the same day is a worry. This is against the manufacturers advice. Maybe give where your located or close too & people may now a vet that does titre test. I wouldnt sedate the dog unless it was so bad. Having said that some people are unable to control there dogs so they can be a risk. My dog is a needle phobic but i am very capable at handling him .
  9. Dont bribe there is no need to too. Firstly make sure the brushes are gentle. If there too harsh the dogs will react. Brush your arm & if it hurts buy new ones. Always brush on a table or raised area, place non slip mat to ensure pup is secure underfoot. Place pup there & be confidient.Start brushing,if pup plays around & firm but fair "no or what ever your chosen no word is,again with no fuss start again.be precise,to the point , the more you make off it the more the pup has achance to take your for a ride. Dont have a running conversation just use basic commands. If you want to use help & you have a fairly helpful family member just ask them to hold the front whilst you brush but again make it low fuss & simple.Good puppy, brush brush & put on the ground. Every night i would say is an overkill for brushing. If you want to i would suggest brushing twice a week & do other things on the table like checking between the toes, looking down ears, Simply place puppy up there & make him stand for a short spell & finish. All these things teach pup that being on the table is okay BUT you must be in charge,Pup will respond to your reactions. If people are giggling it will react
  10. I would probably adddress this are the most.
  11. send OH off to obedience, Sadly until your OH realizes he is creating a monster & that it will be more stressful on the pup when its older & no longer a novelty to retrain is going to make life hard.Pups need everyone to follow the rules. My advice if they dont care ,stick to your guns with what your doing,The dog needs to respect someone & it seems this will be you How old is your son?/Maybe work with your son on training & teaching & he may get some joy from seeings results. I dare say pup has no clue where he stands with OH & the dog is getting confused but tell OH the day he does soemthing he doesnt like then he can only blame himself
  12. Yep so true. You read often people posting a diet & then they get BARF bashed,if you dont feed it that way then you are a horrible owner. many who will happily suggest a change but have no clue about breed specific needs & what some recommendations could do to some breeds. With vets though ido have issues with vet practices that do push there brand because its a profit reason only. We have like many breeders had new owners on the phone in total confusion about what to feed because the vet has said this brand only & if they dont things will go wrong. As with many breeders we have spoken to some off these vets & asked them why & they quickly run & hide, Some diets just arent for all dogs . We run boarding kennels & we see what diets people feed & the results. Many are fee all sorts of crap & do very well.Others who have been brainwashed & feed a diet that doesnt suit at all. Many when you asked why they changed really had no clue why except they where told it was better . I am a believer of not changing what isnt broken & that is the way our dogs are feed. We can tell instantly with our pups when they come back for grooms who has changed & who hasnt & again its because joe blow said or the neighbour ,cousin or whom ever. Dogs where perfectly fine before. 99% will phone & discuss changes, others take there chances & will occasionally phone up complaining about vet bills & skin issues & its easy to solve the issue. It amazes me how many give advice but dont even ask what the breed is or what the breeder suggested.Obviously in some cases people have acquired dogs with no help at all
  13. Discuss your concerns with the breeder. There diet is given too on there past experiences & some will void guranatees if changed to a diet that will knowingly harm a breed I will say though we wouldnt suggest a cooked meal but each to there own & its important not to change the diet to quickly. Each breed often has certain needs & what diet may be good for one could cuase all sorts of issues for another & that applies to dry & even some raw meets.
  14. It is more common than people want to believe & often affects young pups during teething. I think it has been discussed here before.Try the search section up the top
  15. better pets sell coprice(canning vale) & if your a canine member you get discount
  16. WA doesnt get cobber,great barko,uncle albers
  17. We dont get great barko in WA so dont bother looking. Coprice has been a good budget brand available from better pets & gardens.Other than its trial & error. We use to use through the boarding but it doesnt cut it any more. The coprice is way better. We have aselection of budget to premiun for the kennels as all dogs are different
  18. All sizes still prepared the same. The only difference is stds from some lines tend to have truer coats. You will still need to trim feet, bum, work on tail etc etc even if a baby
  19. Even at that age your minis full coa still needs to be worked on. You will also need to clip the throat, bum area & ears(some handstrip ears,we dont). Then scissor the feet, face, eye brows etc etc. Many minis are shown in a great baby coat but you do need to work on it weekly until it has blown completely. For some this is sooner than latter. Your breeder should be your first point of call ,if in another area ask your breeder if they now someone in your area/s that may be able to help.If your breeder has never shown then you will need to find someone who can guide you through the process of what tools, how to strip & stripping a coat to your dogs faults. There is a schnauzer forum in the breed specifics with a few of us schnauzer showies. We have shown minis for nearly 25 years
  20. Doesnt matter what the breed is leash control should be there .This owner should be applauded for being a DOG owner who is considerate off all. Do you shorten Ivys leash when people go past??
  21. Depends which vacc has been used, often the third one isnt required. We show our pups from 3 months.we start walking ours up/down the roads at 8 weeks. I would say the 20 meters is just atad too long at present. Often better to make it it short & sweet & very fun. Also just sitting out the front on lead does wonders for confidence allowing them to see things, hear things & watch things.
  22. Clipping wont make her cooler looking at that coat.A good brush with a comb or undercoat rake will remove the coat that is dead & building up.Clipping removes the top coat so you will be left with the undercoat
  23. I dont now of any dog with diabetes that has maintained it by diet only. All have been insulin dependant. Best to ask your vet .
  24. pro plan salmon & sensitive stomachs BUT the thing is you need to look at the hole eating plan. I would also go to the chemist & buy some flora max or similiar to help re align the good bacteria to her gut. You can buy a dog form but not always the easiest. I have dog who will get the runs if if i feed certain foods.he thrives on the pro plan.mutton 3 times a week, chicken necks & bits of other stuff. To much & he will get the runs. Hills has way to much grains & one of the specialty varieties has an ingredient known to be a cancer cause plus most dogs hate it & wont eat it. Beef, pork & lamb will give my the squirts.Kangaroo agreed well but turned him orange
