Simply because long nails do alter the way a dog walks & the way the foot sits. When this altered it affects muscles & other aspects of the dog . Also the longer the nails the longer the quik grows & the less you can trim off. We see dogs weekly with long nails & i can safely say most have flat feet or walk a tad odd to compensate due to the nails often curling under the foot. Commen sense would tell you its uncomfortable Just consider the way we walk if we get a blister on our foot You will also see dogs with longs nails especially on slippery surfaces slip & slide more or grasp the ground with grim death.

I own 2 dogs who are highly allergic & i carry the injections here. We have other dogs who have been stung & no major issue at all.Licking the spot & minor amount of swelling but manageable. We still give a prednil . My 2 highly allergic are different breeds & no parentage that react but normally in there case when stung its always the face /flew area ,where the others is always foot. With my two allergic ones during business hours i will go to the vets even though i carry the injections. There faces swell to the point there eyes are shut ,glands come up for weeks etc etc,Generally with eye packs applied it take 4 hrs before there swelling starst to go down. The others swelling is gone in no time. Pot luck & careful monitoring. My 2 swell /react within seconds of being bitten

Personally i would say no because many people under estimate what 3 can mean & what happens if it goes wrong.Yes minis are very social creatures BUT 3 can be a crowd. Also ensure your council regs allow 3 & then consider what having 3 will cost. Even though you groom yourself grooming the 3 dog can be a chore for some . So maybe consider when hubby & you sit at night do you have one dog each?? I sit night with 8 minis all craving for top spot, most go off & play in groups. Some arent as group orientated as others & prefer people time instead of play time. Also the ages we see who does what ,where & when. Only you will now if 2 is practical or enjoyable & whether you want the 3 for a good reason because as i say if it doesnt work out which one will you rehome??

The thing with bloat is symptons can show days before it happens . The one dog we had bloat actually showed no symptoms except being hard in the tummy. We went to the vet & he had already twisted & was beyond operating. He was PTS. He ran into the clinic with his teddy bear ,greeting & bouncing about. He was running on adrenalin . This dog had massive health issues & the only reason we noticed the oddness was due to him being anorexic ,massive thyroid issues. The key is the more paranoid you are the more the dog feels it .The reality is even with the best precautions it can still happen its just a case of if it aint right doing something. We always have gas aid on hand because often the signs of a bad gut can be the same or a lead up to bloat. If we have any dog we think looks gasy we will gently tap its tummy & rub & they will either burp or fart bigtime & thats what you want as that is removing the gas build up. The farts are often

Presuming the vet is right

I agree with the others second opinion & seeking a good chiro/bowen person. Just because the pain reaction is at the front doesnt mean that is where the issue is.The resulting pain there could be due to an elbow/shoulder issue etc etc Flat feet as already mentioned is no big deal & as a groomer we see flat feet all the time. Some because there nails are so long there feet have splayed to accommodate this . I agree with other regarding "noticing it" flat fleet is normally no big deal & when selecting a show puppy you look at things like feet etc etc.If it had flat feet you would simply consider it a pet & no need to comment as it isnt a long term health issue. The only issue that goes with it is nail maintance, If it was a big issue the vet should have made comment at its 12 week vacc. Many pups can get flat feet & the likes whilst teething & even turning out during this time & thats where watching the diet can be important whether it be not adequate or to high in protein. During this same period some breeds also get droopy eyes that rectify around 8-9 months. Like others those feet dont look bad photo wise but we arent seeing the dog in real life. I would be contacting the breeder as they most likely could be of great assistance & may have been cheaper than the vet bill
-
Did you ever contact the breeder about the issues?? If you wish to contact the breeder i suggest you get the vet to write a report .The report isnt about blame but a report that simply list the medical condition the dog has. I would then contact the breeder explaining what is going on & forward a copy of the vet report for there records. You may fine tjhe vet wont state there 100% sure if asked to put it in writing because often what they see & what the will write ends up being two different things.

Barf Diet - Scientific Evidence
Dogsfevr replied to ncarter's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
The theory is simple. If your dog does well on what its feed who cares. Many here will push BARF & tell people there doing ill by there dogs.Reality is there are millions of dogs around that are feed various diets that live very happy healthy lives. What works for one doesnt work for others. Diet is personal & individual. -
Some black shampoos can be very drying,The whitener work a treat on black dogs. Some will aslo do a quick rinse with white vinegar
-
Just be careful soaking biscuits. When they over ferment that can be an issue. Moderately soaked biscuits will swell quicker in the stomach than left. As arule soak the biscuit you feed & leave for an hour & see how the swell & the texture they take on.Some are like rubber hockey puks But as erny said every study is different. All mine are feed on raised stands & always will be .Never had an issue in 25 years. The 2 dogs we have that blaoted but where suffering stressful medical issues. Thats why you also avoid prednil like the plague it makes them drinks gallons of water

Yes its important but even in your own words of what you are watching Your dog is 9 weeks & big boistrous dogs are very overwhelming ,Labs can be big powerful dogs & alot of dog for someone still little. If your dog is reacting its had enough & needs time out other wise it will learn that this behaviour is acceptable & it will only get worse with age. Its not a case or ignore or correct but reading the body language & realizing that its becoming all to much & its time out either for the pup or the adults.

I have breeds highly prone to bloat & i never remove there water. If you follow a commomsense approach there is no need too. I personally wouldnt have considered bloat with those signs.Throwing up doesnt equate to bloat & there are other more obvious signs then just your run of the mill throwing up
-
She shouldnt have to fend for herself. She is a pup & being totally overwhelmed. She is only 9 weeks old afterall. As her owner you need to pay more attention & remove her to a safe zone when it becomes all to much otherwise you are setting her up for failure.

Okay for example my large breed pup has just turned 12 months. We have been walking around the block & last week progressed to a bite further. He is a very fit dog as he free runs all day BUT walking is a new level of fitness & he is still building up to this new level . All ours get the small walks as its essential for outside skills but walking to socialise compared to walking to wear out is a whole new ball game. I generally start getting the ball rolling at 10 mths in moderation & building them up to 12 months, then 12 months im building up for 14 moths & then 2 years is quickly there & there at top gear Your hubbie needs to remember how long it took him to happily run that distance ,i dare say he built up to that level. All dogs need exercise but pups are pups. There growing . What did your breeder say ??

Can't Choose From A Few Dry Foods
Dogsfevr replied to all that glitters's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My young pup has been raised on Eagle pack large/giant puppy Hollistic .Whilst personally i find it does nothing for the coat & was feeding it purely for the growth stage & will in about 6 weeks swap over to my preferred choice. As for price ,cheaper than the vet bills & i dont feed just dry any way -
Trust me it aint cruel .As someone who grooms every day & often happy little snap dragons that are 2,3,4 ,5 & older you will wish you where more firm but fair when young than trying to wrestle for many years to come & if your pup is trying to snap now it wont stop until you teach it. Also if your using scissors around that area one wrong move & there goes an eye ,having said that depending on how you want his face to look long term if you trim the hair around the eyes incorrectly you can make it worse. Many people scissor the wrong parts & it always grows & curls into the eyes & annoys them compared to letting some growth there which will weight it down with age. Many trim the "glasses" look & this look can be high maintance. Okay so your on your own,That is very easy.Place pup on table of your choice & firmly but fairly give commands,if pup wiggles again a firm "no" or what ever your word is allow to calm with no fuss.Pup will learn very quickly from your cues. If you still find it hard use your collar & hold the collar under the chin with the spare hand & trim. As dumb as it sounds place an item (ie stuffed teddy.milk bottle) & pretend to trim & think about what would be easier & where all your hands can be go & how to multi task

Grooming Advice Wire Haired Dog
Dogsfevr replied to pearlandmooks's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
The anaesthetic will also cause the coat to blow quicker so it will most likely fall out alot on its own over the next 6 weeks. If using your fingers buy some rubber thimbles & cut the end out of one & leave the thumb one intake & pull -

Looking at the photos you could strip alot out.Using a feal/nit comb would get alot out. For the cheapest 7& easiest root go to agood horse shop & buy a "slick n Easy" ( heros stone) & with gentle strokes work on the coat. -
Okay im not one for grooming whilst tired. If there tired then pups should be sleeping not made to do something that is a teaching exercise. It doesnt make it any easier long term, just convient now. Grooming at this age is all about learning the right/wrong behaviour & how you address it moulds its future. Always groom on a table, make sure the surface is non slip.Place puppy on table with a confidient voice tone & proceed, dont pander, over talk oor turn it into a mummy,s boy exercise .The more you piss fart about the longer it takes & the less the dog learns. If pup wiggles you must use a be confidient in your voice tone & grasp.Dont be rough but be in charge & above all dont bribe unless the dog has a severe case of abuse or neglect. The next thing what are you brushing with? The wrong tools can hurt the dog & make the whole process unenjoyable. Do you have someone who can help if need be.Even in the salon if we have a young dog whos unsure we will assist during the more fragile areas. Has pup being professionally clipped yet or are you planning to do it??If you arent & its due get it done sooner tha latter, when left to long it can be very overwhelming on the pup greeting the clippers & unless you now who to control the pup & groom it can be a horrid experience. How is pups manners when not groomed?Would you say it rules the roost or are you in charge in all aspects?? Grooming is about respect. If the pup respects you it will be a breeze,if the pup has no manners at present & no understanding it will be harder. I have groomed for nearly 25 years & at 5 months our own dogs love it & now all about the clippers, table, bath blow dryer & will happily stay there with the occasional wiggle

we have had drugs via the chemist. Some drugs the vets dont want to get in as quantity wise it isnt viable. Certainly there are drugs that can be used regulary & some vets will use this method.
-
This is what they are feed.
-
You can give it cold or warm, With our pups the night time is warm at other times the chill is taken out.

yep defiantely 4 smalls meals. We use to feed Bonnie through the kennels but found it just wasnt the product it use to be.too many poops & hard to maintain weight. We use puppy tins & have no issues, its good for breaking up meals. We use either eagle pack puppy tins or the pedigree naturals. The one thing is though dont rush to feed up,do it slowly & steadily otherwise you will end up with a pup that has the runs. Getting the weight on will take time. Like others some chicken mince, mutton mince, chicken necks, lamb flaps all in moderation . The dry is up to you but i would be more inclined to feed a better quality given the age & lack of nutrition. Supercoat would be below the bonnie due to its ingredients I personally would buy the floramax or similiar tabs from the chemist to help realign the good gut bacteria(better than yoghurt) I am presuming the pup has been wormed as well?? We also use goats milk.some will say theres no need but our pups love it & they get there goats milk & farex as a filler especially before bed.
