Yes like any breed with erect ears you get the odd pup that end up floppy or semi erect . Some at a young age will tape or paddle pop the the ears to assist in the muscle memory to stand up but in the end there either up or down. Some can stay up at an older age but in all honesty you would need to see a more consistent up than down .

The vet should have explained things way better .There was no need for daily unltrasound BUT the vet should have said have one on XX day especially with the results they would have got with the prog test ,they will also suggest a Ultrasound if heading into a weekend . Our vet when doing C section does not do daily US but when the result hits a certain level or stage they will just to see how the pups are going . Having said that like others said the US would not have been a guarantee off the pups survival ,if you had it done early am then 24 hrs the next day the results could have been the same .

Even with leash training you can get creative which again is using brain games, self control & in a some what sly why teaching focus and respect on you without it being the boring same old same that they switch off . Pool noodles make fabulous training tools to create interesting walkways where the dog & you have to work as a team but also allowing the dog to problem solve . The dog above is terrible onleash so they opted for the easy option of the offleash park so it turned into "free for all brain" at an age i think is crucial for building a relationship . That will take time more time than it should have . Maybe even look at search n seek games in the backyard . Some dogs brain just works overtime & no doubt there a challenge but the trick is you wont win a battle so you need to switch to other options . Boxes with treats inside ,hide n seek ,even teaching catch requires self control -

Its not mine but a dog i have regular contact with . But i do own large dogs & like you certain behaviours just arent suitable when uncontrolled . This scenario is hard because there"s the lets make excuses side,a trainer who said its screwed up because it flew on a plane & my thoughts its a beautiful, smart dog who craves attention in one way, hasn't been allowed a certain degree off freedom to learn (not feral ,do what you want freedom but an ability to learn kind off freedom instead of controlled & then confused) This dog is a body slammer & no fun what so ever .The trainer /behaviourist method to the family was grab a chair ,get the dog to focus & suck food from a syringe to re instill breast feeding . The dog has no idea how to sit still,be calm ,switch off something i pointed out very early they needed to manage ,instead they would walk it,walk it some more let it dive bomb & they loss control as the dog was so amped up . So i gave my thoughts ,the dog at present works in one speed ,teaching it to chill is like going cold turkey for an alcoholic so my thoughts is to learn to get a response in speed mode, get some focus in speed mode & as the dog is working the reward is the calm mode slowly working the dog to chill reward without pushing the human touchy feely .This dog luvs brain games ,spin, touch, paw shake & walking backwards ,Withing 2 mins its tired & the next phase of calm starts ,the last time i saw it it just wanted to dive bomb me so just told it what i wanted ,it did that & the dog stopped jumping & was switched on learning without the battle .Back to front method but could be very successful if the family where all 100% on the same page Personally as its not my dog & im just offering my two bobs worth i don't think the success will be as good as it could be because some just find a reason .for the bad manners & its alright . I totally get your frustration its no fun & you get battle fatigued from just thinking about why something so simple is so hard but if you can find the one "moment" thing you will seriously get success quickly -
We have used the booster and not costly if you want the best chance for sperm. As for infertility in a line no one can truly say when only an odd animal is used for breeding .

Often dogs first attempt is poor but if it was my dog i would eliminate Thyroid issues . Finding a collector that to be blunt is good at wanking the dog on is a blessing ,we have a vet here who is just awesome at that . I would contact Noahs Crossing vets in SA regarding tablets to potentially help boosting semen

I have no idea what is in the VCA prefix exam but we have helped some in my state with an odd question .(not given answers) The last one we helped made the question harder than what it was & here it requires looking up the rules & regs . The answer was very easy & infact if this person showed regularly & brought catalogues & really read the cats answer would have jumped out easily they then just needed the correct wording to go with the answer You need to realise plenty do pass so the answers are there so it might be time to step back from the questions & start reading the rules & regs & the other info often that makes understanding the question easier

Absolutely plenty off evidence of success but the results are more based on the owners prepared to think outside the box and not be so regimental it’s this way only . The dog I mentioned was a nightmare to pat (also a show dog)and whilst the method to modify the behaviour seems odd to many it has worked the best to break down the steps for that dog . His brain at greeting is like he’s on speed, teaching him to slow down isn’t easy but teaching him to focus at that time has made a massive difference . He know does cafe visits 2 months later amongst people and is super ,he has just turned 1 yrs . -
I honestly can’t remember and the fact we new the correct mating dates etc when the vet phones back agreeing it’s time we just go in ,there repo vets . Another thing to keep in mind is bitches with c sections can be bad mums at first especially if a singleton so you need to have on stand by your bottle feeding products and plan . Some don’t get milk through ASAP either

If the behaviour is annoying to you just imagine how the dog is thinking . Sounds like a dog that lacks a certain degree off confidence in what is expected & time to think outside the boring box of "you will" & go with the "lets do it" I groom a dog whose owner has complained non stop about there dogs behavior (dog has amazing nature just no boundries & lots of excuses). They sort the help off a trainer & honestly the advice the trainer gave made me left scratching my head . So i gave my advice which obviously started with the dog is only as good as the human given direction & by this i mean you can stand there a prepare for battle or you can be open minded & be creative , This dog is a body slammer & something i dont accept what so ever but the boring line of training the trainer gave i could see a dog even more frustrated & them getting no where . This dog is bright ,the dog has no attention span as it has switched off from the same old same (10 months old) so i suggested some fun things that can happen in the moment ,this dog was just super in grasping the interesting options but more importantly started to "want" to see what that human had to offer . Spin, high five ,get back ,dance yes on its back legs (suggested this as it was already doing it but to control the end result & modify over the next few weeks . Be creative the dog will get it quickly but just remember the dog is most likely more annoyed than you The dog has embraced the out of the box fun & started to settle into a more acceptable normal -
No sure how the breeder could say the bitch was sterile yet sell her entire ,Sounds like the breeder is clueless themselves .(There dog may be sterile, there timing off ) Simple reality is this pup will be expensive & you have learnt a hard lesson . Did you keep dates off when she was in season?? Do you know what dog has mated her (simply asking from the point of view of factors that could make a singleton more drama). She could very well whelp naturally What date has the vet estimated from the initial ultrasound?? Have never had a vet ultrasound every day for a potential C section ,we had a bitch that our vet deemed likely to be a C section .Prog tested from day 60 depending on the results we did an ultrasound just to see what was going on ,our C sections for 2 girls have been day 60/61. The costs of your vet is at the top & i would suggest asking there c section price, ask if they open weekends & if they do after hrs ,If this bitch 100% needs a c section then you need to plan it not it become an emergency C section . After hr C sections you may look from $2000 plus compared to a working hrs off $1000. What has the breeder said?? There are vets in WA that are more breeding bitches savvy than others

The other issue is it simply tells you prefix exists not that they own it . Its still be better to contact the state body who can confirm other details that the person with the litter owns it

No one can answer because a harness needs to fit more than the size it needs to sit properly on the puppy to actually be user friendly . Have you asked the breeder what they use ?? Many Whippet people walk them on Whippet collars & do perfectly fine on those ,no need for a harness

10 week puppy - swollen lymph nodes - Help
Dogsfevr replied to April_Mum's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Phone the breeder first & foremost ,if they where a good one they may be able to suggest vets with more knowledge although Covid can make this trick . """"""""Obviously no one can tell you what to do as where not vets nor seeing the dog & whats presented """""""" Swollen glands doesnt mean the worse. Pup could have been bitten by a bee ,could eaten a stick or something that has grazed inside mouth & caused an infection ,plenty of simple options . Anti biotics is very obvious & yes we would be giving them ,depending on what else is being presented & all factors weighed up would depend on how we would personally go ahead. The course of tablets if there is an infection brewing can be hit on the head asap & if the lump goes away whilst on the course could pin point a basic infection ,this normally would be how a vet would suggest starting unless something more concerning is being presented . -
When to put down 13 yo Shepherd-mix with hip dysplagia
Dogsfevr replied to esther5's topic in General Dog Discussion
Something for you to think off though. When the time comes what is your plan ..?? Will you be looking for a mobile vet to PTS Will you be taking the dog to the vet Will you be burying the dog or cremating or another option for religious reasons . Many hope they will just pass away at home or experience it’s rare . We own big dogs as well as our small .When big is at there worst it can be hard to get them too a car ,a good solid blanket/Doona can help . It’s an emotional time when it happens and you will be asked what you want too do . -

I dont want to burst your bubble but the dog wheel chairs aren't that simple. They require front strength to pull them ,they will require atleast 2 people to get him in safely without stressing him & some dogs hate them & panic. I have owned a dog that required the use of a wheel chair for about 6 months during that time we also did intensive exercises of his front to keep him in muscle tone & able to pull himself . During his time of not being able to walk we also had to ensure no bed sores,no laying around to much incase of fluid build up & organ crushing .I was lucky he was a 12 kg dog . HE HATED the Wheel chair with a passion as it scared him ,you cant leave them unsupervised in them incase they tip over & given his lack of body tone & condition will likely find the effort to get in the harness tiring so when it arrives make sure you take safe baby steps .You dont want it so stressed it has a heart attack for example. Its hard when family members arent on the same page not in the sense of its time now but not respecting that the dogs quality is not there & decisions need to be discussed and made . Given a pet its wings is a wonderful gift when the time comes after many years of unconditional love & asking very little from there humans in the scheme of things .This when the humans need to step up & be the owners that know its time ,they cant live forever & they shouldn't suffer for us . It sounds like you have your head in the right place even though our hearts would say something else . Maybe your sister needs the wheel chair to make that decision but just be careful the dog doesnt get caught in the middle ,its hard enough getting over the grief off a pet but from someone who made the wrong decisions the first time its harder to live with the regret off knowing you where selfish & the dog suffered for it . As such know you apply a totally didfferent respect to this process & it is never any easier but knowing it was the right time makes it easier -

When the over all quality isn’t there it’s time. The fact you’re asking suggests you know it’s time . We always say a day early is better than a day late . -
I would imagine it could be legit . Whilst the vet world is an essential service the specialist even if still working has to work to the guidelines so no doubt there appointment schedule wait time longer due to Covid

So don’t worry about it till then You need to feel the loss otherwise you won’t move forward .you will cry next week,a month after, the following year and many more to come . Let Kane’s time happen and then consider the future when it feels right . You May decide to stay a one dog household, you may decide to go with a pup but at present grieve for Kane because your other dog will feel your pain too knowing your upset .

Breeding dogs is not a career . Breeding dogs is a life long commitment and the last part of the dog owning journey .You won’t be creating your own lines ,you will be using established lines that will best suit the dogs you own .You will be researching those already established lines and finding the potential right fit for going forward .You won’t always do better because not all lines gel so with the better you have to take the worse . What does Bettering the breed mean too you ,what will you do better that others haven’t ? Everyone is a BYB in the scheme of things what defines a breeder is there choices, decisions and reasons.. So what you need to do is a tick list of why should I be a breeder . You should also do a list of why I shouldn’t be a breeder . A list of what kind of breeder I want to be .. Learn about fair trading laws for selling animals To be a breeder depends on whether you want to be registered, who with, state laws, local council laws .. What activities are you planning to do with your chosen breed . Will those activities define you as bettering the breed. As your young ,go to dog shows, find people in the breed to talk too . Whilst your dreams are great in the world breeding it’s humbling to start at the bottom and the basics and Learn. Learn what the breed standard actually means ,see dogs in real life ,the breed standard alone can mean making tough choices when adding health results ,learning why you shouldn’t part with a dog just because . Not all dogs should be breed from, there is often more heartache in making the tough choices in moving on a dog that hasn’t passed testing . Obviously you don’t have too do any off the above and just buy a male and female and just breed .

I wouldn’t think about it at present . Let time go past and then decide
-
Cost is something you would need to ask the breeder you narrow your choices too. Grooming wise as a groomer depends what groom they want but normal 6/8 weeks. Brushing weekly by the family a must .
-
I’m presuming your asking this based still on the search for a pup.? Let me just say your going to end up very confused if you other research and end up with more answers than match your questions . But as to your question my dogs where done through the AHT in the UK which is sadly shutting done. Others use places in the US and Sweden .and NZ ,I’m sure there or others . Its not a case of what one prefers but who offers which testing to suit the breeds needs not just a general panel and who they like the service off

Liver shunt rapid onset symptoms.Advice.
Dogsfevr replied to Staffiez's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Cant help with a shunt but had a bitch with a liver tumor. From the first weird sign to asap vet diagnosis we where told 3 months enjoy 6 months if your very lucky 12 months . We where given the diet options but our vet is also very real & had good trust in us to know which path to take . She lasted 10 weeks & was feed what ever she would eat .Eating became a struggle each week & all i can say is you will absolutely know when . We gave her every chance diet wise but when it changed to eating being a struggle we knew it was time for palliative care & to make a decision on just needing food to next stage . My advice make the most of every day ,take happy snaps & make memories hope for the best but be realistic about the worse -
Actually alot of breeders will fully refund the pup, partially refund & allow them to keep it.Its not always that black n white BUT its based on having all the correct info at hand & making a decision in the best interests of all parties & the dog . Some may offer a replacement pup & still allow them to keep the current pup . If the owners decide to keep it then its important to have a waiver signed about the agreement made & the owners decision fully aware off what is ahead . There are times where it is in the dogs best interests for it to stay in a very loved home & an owner who is prepared to deal with the long term/short term or anything in between & the reason why still trying to keep a good relationship a must at this highly emotional time for puppy owners . There vet may have explained it a manner that has created an issue ,there vet may have misdiagnosed or this pup does have an issue that the breeder needs to have info about just as much whether it comes under the Shit happens category or is something that can occur within the breed . We breed a dog that had a murmur we held on to her until the age the vet felt it would age out or get worse. It disappeared as per there diagnosis & she lived till 15 yrs with her adoring owners . A good reason for breeders to send pup home with the free 6 weeks pet insurance
