We held onto the papers of our limit registered pup... the dog was to be sterilised before it would have been ready to compete in dog sports (not that they wanted to compete anyway). By holding onto the papers they couldn't "accidently" breed with the dog and show a copy of his paperwork to say the parents were registered. They got the papers and a $300 refund once they sent the sterilisation certificate And they certainly didn't have any problems with it as unless you want to breed or are ready to compete the papers don't mean anything anyway. If the dog is show quality and you may want to try showing ask the breeder if you can transfer her to the Neuter register as well. Not many Clubs run neuter events but they are bringing in a neuter championship title We do the same as do many breeders Physically having the papers in their hands or not aside, does this mean the dog is still in the breeders name, too? yes until the dog is spayed per the contract ,then the paperwork is signed & then its a case of whether the people join the canine or not of which most never do. Remember if people dont join the canine the dog will always remain in the breeders name on the papers because the greater majority never transfer them over All the details are clearly outlined & in a written contract that both parties sign. Never had an issue in 25 plus years & originally our pets where never registered until the new rule came in like many breeders in this state. Even now in WA we dont have to sell with papers but every pup must be registered

Do You Allow A Puppy Person To Pick Their Pup?
Dogsfevr replied to Stolzseinrotts's topic in Breeders Community
I would presume any ethical breeder would follow this rule no matter what the breed. Matching the right pup to the right family is very important & all our buyers are told this -
All ours go on limited to & thats only because in WA we now have to register every pup. In my experience & with the people we deal with daily i believe those who have a limited pup are very well aware of the restrictions & the only ones i now of who have complained suddenly want to breed certainly not show. generally those who say they werent informed where & had no intentions of showing when originally purchasing . We are very upfront with our puppy enquirers & i think we only had 1 who came back whinging the problem was before the paid for the pup they signed the contract outling they understood what limited register was & had been clearly discussed. I am not a believer of selling all pups on main . With the handful we have sold as show dogs our arrangement has been they show in our name for the first 6 months at which time they must commit to the intense grooming required,if after that 6 months they wish to continue & it is show quality the dog is tranferred over in to joint names.if they arent committed its down graded & must be spayed as all our pets must be spayed. It has worked very well for us as we havea breed highly sort after for exporting.BYB & DD breeders

We painted our roof but i cant say i noticed any difference except make the roof a pain to clean. Our float has more insulation in it than most so hard to compare what the difference is

Never groom on your lap. You need to find a raised area(washing machine.bench ) & place a non slip mat & brush dog only standing up.Start now teaching the word stand /stay Dont go over board in talking & treating you dont need to bribe for grooming but its your body langugae that makes or breaks it. Place pup on table first off ,say stand ,run your hands over pup or quick run over with the brush ,place on the ground & good dog. Never place pup on the floor whilst having a tainty ,if pup plays up just hold safely & wait till dummy spit is finished & then place on the floor. laps are for cuddles not grooming ,pup needs a "grooming" place where you cheack for knots, burs & brushing especially when older & in a full coat.

Ch Fermanagh Orange Blossom "Blossom" is a yellow Labrador Retriever bitch. She and her owner are staying at the Avina Van Village and are in Sydney for the Lab National. Blossom snapped her lead and broke out of her crate last night (Sat 8/5) when some kids across the road let off a whole heap of firecrackers. Blossom is microchipped and may still have her soft collar on, Sammy Caldwell is her owner and is desperate to find her, she can be contacted on 0407364991. Please keep an eye out if you are in the area and phone Sammy if you see any stray yellow labrador retrievers. Crosspost from show forum & please share with anyone

Need Advice In Creating A Stress Free Bath Time.
Dogsfevr replied to iheartmorrison's topic in Puppy Chat
dont pander to them. Have a non slip mat & get on with the job,the more people hanging on & comforting the longer it takes & the more of a big deal you create. When he tries to jump dont piss fart about its a stern "no" Then what ever the word you wish to use said & then praised . be prepared like already mentioned & just get on with it -

humping isnt a normal puppy thing & not something i would find funny either. I owuld be addressing the issue now before you regret it ,sounds like one little dominant male

I gather she means ethoxiquin (sp) which was removed years ago but is still in some of the Hills range. We have used euk on one of our breeds for nearly 20 yrs now with no issues,if your happy with it dont panic. Everyone has an opinoin on diet & some will agree or disagree . We use a varying brands on the different breeds because not all suit

Remember the dogs arent doing this deliberately & the same issues affect humans as they get older. I dare say there eye sight is also going which affects them ,then add hearing loss & often smell there whole sensory system is not there to help. Old dogs like humans then get into a routine whether it be what we want or not ,it seems normal to them. They sleep longer & get confused quicker & dont plan ahed for needing to go. Our oldies all when reaching that stage are introduced to carpet runners whilst they can still 'get it" we have found these runners to be a god send in setting up a routine, yes it may look ugly in the house but owning elderly pets is about putting yourself out & working a way that is doable . Like lorraine the puppy mats can work wonders if they have set place

Yes you are expecting too much . He doesnt understand the command & you say food is his motivation. You need to teach the stay without distraction & then after grasping the concept start to introduce distractions. Remember when you teach many things you often sometimes lose the simple aspects & the pup can end up in brain overload & then going backwards . teaching the stay with a teaser will re reinforce a fail with that word so use that word where it will succeed & that the distraction isnt so more over whelming at his age generally with training a stay it is done on leash & turning directly into the face of the dog, very close without distance & steps are taking back only when the dog understands the stay command from the minute you move away. Steps back means one at a time over stages & only when it has proving to understand the first stage which could be a few weeks, months

WA is no different in having one show only per weekend. I personally would love to pay the price of air fares that Tassie has to the mainland . Every flight has number restrictions BUT as already mentioned if you want to do it you can & freight has always over ridden dogs,we have had dogs bumped from other states . Yes you have 2 days either side by ferry we have 2/3 days driving if your lucky to vic. If you want to go you will make the effort if you cant then so be it but these rules have been around for many years ,it isnt recent . If you truly think your hard done by then get TCA to put a motion forward for the ANKC conference .bring it up at your agm . I can appreciate the plane issue size & i now that has always been an issue .i now when i book i pick flights that are dog friendly & based on the plane but yes we are lucky & get the bigger planes here

Yes but you dont presume there morons either nor caring. They have been judged guilty based on no facts at all . These people werent discussing, they where questioned or as the OP put it interrogated then coming straight home & posting about them on a public forum .

Homemade Dog Food Vs Kibble?
Dogsfevr replied to Juno's Mummy's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
scrape the rice & pasta. Pasta in particular can cause skin issues . Are you feeding beef?? beef also is a well known skin issue creator. The reality is if the diet is sufficient you dont need to add supplements . Although if you do try Melrose omega pet flax seed ,a wonderful product for dogs with skin issues. -
Maybe aunty can do a walk around if there are any dog parks close by & see if people have an idea of the dog in question, even local kids are good for that. Not mentioning what has happened but simply needing to have a chat with her. Mkae sure the vet rights a report & takes photo's & the council takes photo's

Why are you mystified about a dog that isn't yours and a whole medical history hasn't been supplied because the OP doesn't even know the history! Sheesh! Neither you, nor anyone else has any idea how long it was between consults.. the original one where antibiotics were given could have only been a week prior (given 5 days for AB's to be effective or realise they weren't.... pretty standard really. Now you are freaking out Abigail.. and it's just a dramatic, over reaction without having anywhere near enough information about the actual situation to reach a valid conclusion. Yep agree, We board dogs that have serious issues ,from the drama filled posts here many of these owners would be abused for the condition of there dogs without knowing the true facts . Parvo was ruled out BUT obviously this dog had a severe gut issue that hit it hard to consider parvo. We breed a pup 16 yrs ago that caught a stomach bug from a nursing home with there new owners, the dog went to visit & the home plus this family where all chronically sick After issues with there vet & the owners freaking out we took the dog back . This dog took many weeks to recover,it took nearly 9 months to get weight on .She was skin & bone & hardly able to walk . By 12 months she started to get a good coat back & was at minimum healthy weight.by nearly 15 months she had hit her target & was starting to get muscle condition back as during this time her muscles wasted . This dog would generally weigh 8 kg. During that entire recovery time she still suffered vomiting & the runs as her gut was so inflammed but after awhile that too recovered. By 2 years time she was a perfectly normal dog who we rehomed with the most amazing retired lady who could pamper her 24/7 & she passed away this year at 16. Now our friends new her story but i am sure anyone else would have abused us or judged us. Dont presume that people are doing bugger all . Some health conditions aren't fixed over night & can take many months to recover

Yep agree, having owned greys i now what you mean & with our current breeds no clubs in my state ,i have to travel east to compete which i do or miss out which i have also done. I do think people dont always appreciate what options they get with some breeds

Never presume in the house means better. As for number of litters that is personal but in our case all our bitches come in heat at the same time so we will either have multiple litters or just one, many breeders also find themselves in the same situation of bitches cycling all together . In our case we had 3 litters at once(same time) one year & then nothing for the next 2years. Jed list is what i would ask too. Most of my dogs come form breeders who whelp in the house & then there moved out once active & running about & never had an issues with temps or coping because they are exposed to the world outside & allowed to be pups & experience life. I now of pups raised in doors, living a sterile environment & don't cope so it comes down to what life experiences they have had
