  1. Puppy contracts are very common in Australia don’t know who told you they weren’t . Personally I wouldn’t have taken the puppy without discussing the issue ,yes you where told in poor form BUT you had the chance to say hang on a minute we need to think on this & certainly discuss it
  2. Agree go back to simple basics . Puppy pen and building her confidence about toileting .Make her space smaller and less overwhelming and build upwards. If you feel she’s doing it deliberately then your body language will come across as annoyed and frustrated . Your pup will be even more frustrated so go back to simple bed. Some cavies can be shy and that is where building her confidence is a must .
  3. Your breeder will be your person off knowledge and will tell you what it’s been feed, how many meals, current quantities after all there feeding the pup in question . Keep in mind you will get many confusing answers to you post . Some breeds diets can be more breed specific. If wanting to feed raw make sure you feed a correct balanced raw . Also keep in mind any diet transitions should be done slowly in case your puppy ends up with the runs . Do you know what the breeder feeds .? Talk to them after all if you feed something else when pup arrives home and it gets the runs or sick the first person you will call is the breeder so . Our diet is part of our puppy guarantee which is in the contract and we also have a section about requiring a change and informing us . We went with this path after puppy owners going on there own and getting it wrong . Most vets will sell what they stock and most vets aren’t savvy with breed diets relating to growth ,high cholesterol etc . Ask your breeder about diet now and go from there
  4. I still am weary off a vet that goes full OMG than saying not ideal but the jaw has lots of growing to do & hits you with the hefty, gonna cost you line.Did your vet discuss a referral to specialist dentist?? You wouldn't even consider any surgery until the jaw has grown i have seen bad bites go perfect in puppies & great bites go bad Your issue is you still brought the pup fully ware it had an issue as you where told ,i would have wanted it noted on the sales contract . What does the sales contract of the puppy state as for as a vet check at your expense within a set period.Did the puppy go with the free 6 week puppy insurance ?? What you want to also decide is it a parrot bite ,where are the incisors currently sitting inverted ??
  5. First off find a new vet ,any vet that makes those claims at this age is a worry and not a vet I would trust with my dog . Many puppies can have overbites and with the growing process rectify itself. Often surgery is not required ,talk about a dramatic vet. Would i be pissed with the breeder yes . im a breeder and anything like that would be discussed ,having said that bites change so quickly ( did the breeder say they new well in advance) We sold a pup last year perfect bite ,6 months it’s bite went ,total shock too us .We refunded the pup price . Has the issue been listed in the sales contract ..?
  6. Has the dog been tested for thyroid issues
  7. You didnt post in the breeder section you have posted in the general section where pet owners often ask for free advice or general pet questions and are simply pet owners who have never experienced litters . The Breeders section is where those with the potential knowledge are . At the end off the day known of us are vets ,able to see the pups infront of us ,the colour of the poo or the pups themselves . Only a vet could help you
  8. No papers and chances are not health tested for important Border Collie issues . The issue you have is you have to take the pedigree part on face value ,the pup may 100% be but without the papers there is no proof . Registered father could mean any registery to registered with the council but if the owner doesn't actually have the papers in there possession there have no real clue either . Depending on why you need the papers & that can be for very legit reasons you in this case wont be able to get any form off proof as to your pups actual parentage or history . Hopefully you discussed all this with the person with the puppies prior to committing & the breeder should have fully explained the pups have no paper trail as such that your simply buying the pup on face value & honesty
  9. Puppies have been in thousand bracket for many many years . This didn’t happen this year .
  10. The collar may be acting as a skin shedder when it rubs & wears . Dogs often with crazy spays coats have a good coat under there collar as the collar often rubs so does the work the owners dont
  11. DogsNSW can check if the litter has been processed . Take a step back from finger pointing and talk with the breeder again . The breeder could very well have done the litter and dogsNSW posted out and it’s lost l
  12. I think you need to take a step back and read your post from a breeders point of view of you wanting to buy a main registered animal . For me all I read is breeding ,breeding and breeding . In a world full of puppy farmers or just people wanting to bred it will not get you far . who are you doing the breeding modules with? What registry are you joining ? Why do you want to bred? What is your goal with breeding? Why did you email the breeders you did was it there lines, the colours, the testing they do ? Or did you just do the email everyone approach. What stud lined would you be looking at to complement the lines off the breeders you have contacted ? Are you planning to show ,How savvy are you in understanding the breed standard ? These are the questions you will get asked . These are the kind off things your puppy owners will ask and a lot more so when planning to be a breeder you need to have you future of all the whys, what for and building the relationship with those people you may need to use males from . We get emails weekly wanting a main registered animal to breed with . We thank them for being honest then when we ask more detail get told where to noisy . We are responsible for our pups and there future so if someone sends the I want to bred email compared to the great family home email we have to make decisions. We have sold dogs on mains BUT those people came to shows, asked lots of breed related questions ,we understood there pathway and they understood ours and we gave them great resources to read up,learn and be smart about there knowledge . We built up a understanding and then the right puppy was sold with all the support for them to be successful showing and potentially breeding . 1 continued the others ended up deciding it was all too hard . So you need to be honest but not sound so desperate that you just want a puppy with main papers and no thought about the lines, testing etc etc
  13. Yes its legal & nothing you can do . Cats ,birds, reptiles & if next to a sidewalk the drunk human will all pee not the end off the world water that area a little more often to wash it away . I would say dont let it become such an issue it consumes your day .if a dog decides to just wee there isn't much you can do about it .
  14. Tell the steward its your first show & that you are a true novice . Make sure your read the QLD paw prints & the covid show info for Qld regarding how many from a house hold can go & any requirements . You will be required to mouth your own dog
  15. No such thing as trust when it comes to money . But they will need to have it well documented what the sales contract was ,they would ideally have written a new contract that $500 was still owed & both parties agreed to a deal . Ideally they need something in written form ( payment receipts) anything that proves what they paid on what schedule to what point . This is why when selling a goods you are business like & professional for both sides . Chances are i doubt the "friend" did any off this . So there options send a letter outling what is still owed any decisions on payment plans needs to be clearly outlined on what is a due date After that a a legal letter & then small claims court . Some options may cost them more than the $500 .
  16. They do shed and a lot normally . there like Dalmatians and English Pointers hair for everyone all year . Its coat change season for many breeds so hair will be your new friend for awhile aka 24/7 . Just brush its coat regularly and not with a furminator or the likes they just screw the coats up and people over use them
  17. Source a doggy chiro or Bowen person . Dogs with muscle soreness can be flat, have the runs . I use Bowen on my dogs pups get done regular . Teething can also be a real struggle for some getting inflamed tonsils
  18. Why not a Malinios ? Great dogs your a already savvy with them ,more agile and athletic than the GSD and good alrounder hiking ,walking dog
  19. Also keep in mind your dog doesnt need to meet every dog to be social ,owners often get that very wrong & push there dogs to say hello to everything without reading there dog at that moment . I very much doubt its a dominance thing but more a havent been taught the process off meeting other dogs & you learning when its time to walk away . Puppies can get cranky at the drop off a hat over stimilulated, tired but owners will insist they go say hello . Learning to not say hello is just as important, learning self control when approaching another pup/dog the same. My pups at this age actually dont interact that much with other dogs & are very social . Why because i dont want them trained into thinking every dog they see is more value or must go see or that it’s e pe Ted they must say Hi I show my dogs they have to happy around dogs in close contact more than most . I have large dogs that can play rough & be imposing . My guys learn self control, focus . When it is playtime its based on the other pups, there owners & closely watching if my pups/dogs have had enough & sometimes they just dont care & want to walk straight past which means i have succeeded . Dont over think it many owners do but maybe take a step back & reading the situation more & focusing more on teaching your dog how to cope . Not all dogs play with bums up,some are insanely vocal, some in your face .Some dogs just dont want to hang out with others . So in your case the introduction for the first 5 or 10 mins was fine after that thats when watching the dog & reading its body language would have said time to move on /Your pup may have had enough & needed to switch off & the humans werent seeing that
  20. Cathode owners would tick the right owners for the breed box . Good owners no matter what the dog Will have a good friend. Owners who want a breed without living in reality often own a nightmare . I see this daily . Owners who brought a breed and dedicated themselves to ticking all the boxes . Then I see owners who brought a dog to be a status symbol and put no effort in and complain about there dog . I have helped handle both breeds in the ring my preference is the BC BUT that’s because I myself own active breeds with big personalities . The Labs are great I just like more get up n go 24/7
  21. Maybe also look at Australian Shepherds . I tend to find them more stable and some great breeders in Brisbane . I guess my question is how much time outside with the dog are you planning? Including winter, rainy days . Whilst I’m not a fan off dogs living outside 24/7 I get some people prefer that option for what ever reason but things to consider with this route . Dog won’t be trained to be clean in the house. Dog won’t be trained to house rules If dog is storm phobiac what is your plan .? If it’s an extreme heat day ? When it’s a old senior will it still left outside ? If dog becomes a nighttime barker what is the plan ? Floors you can deal with and manage ,dog learns house rules and the humans learn the dog rules a few carpet runners
  22. It’s actually not been proven either way a lot of false info given. I feed this brand and have kept very update to date with the correct info from the proven vet sources and more than happy to feed it .
  23. I dont think the dog will ever appear to look fat from the photo taken above so you need to decide the dogs actual construction to what is reality
  24. And im ready to put the flame suit on but if you want to refer to & raise your Amstaff like a Furbaby please dont get one . I have friends who where heavily involved in the breed including obedience .running classes for Am Staff owners & there biggest heartbreak each week where owners who brought the breed for all the wrong reasons & did not respect what they are & felt they could create something different because it was going to be there Furbaby . There dogs where amazing ambassadors, social, manners to be proud off .The best dog often played with mine in the BIS line up & i never had any concerns as i knew they where owners /breeders who i totally respected ,there have been others off the breed i keep a nice gap . We board alot of Am Staffs lovely dogs BUT most off the owners have created monsters by not giving them the boundries they deserve & respect to be an amazing dog .Dogs are products off there owners & if you as an owner cant tick the boxes off the breed then no dont get one . I love them as a breed & the right dog & owner are a great fit ,plenty here come in boarding with smaller mates with no drama's BUT the owners where alos prepare for the what ifs & respected that they are a big machine in a little package & learning manners & self control as a baby so important One has spoilt the dog so much it has major anxiety issues & this breed can Scream .There neighbours have spoken too them numerous times & i totally feel for the neighbours this dogs scream is blood curdling . As for price this is a breed that comes with health testing i would be wanting a breeder who health tests,i would want a breeder who explains all the cons before the pros & i would want to source a breeder whose not got the macho attitude & has respect for the breed & wants there puppy owners to be well informed & set up for success & i would want to meet there dogs & see the kind of natures they display
  25. Rushing weight gain will often end up with the runs . Putting weight on depends on what your even feeding, how many meals. The dog in the photo kinda looks long in loin which means it may never appear fat no matter how much you feed it but also hard to tell from the photo off the side . The other issue is with cross breeds is sometimes the front & the rear never match in looks
