  1. Leave the door open.I gather pup doesn't have its own access in or out so at present its one or the other. I would allow the pup more opportunity to take itself outside on it's terms than you specifically shut it out. The pup will soon learn that your action body language means something isn't right. Leave the door open & do lots of outside non specific jobs where you don't acknowledge the dog, just go about your own business come in/out but leave the door open. Your pup would have been use to the outside world with it's breeder so it isn't an experience that is new just not having the "company"

  5. Nope maybe when they change the date so it isn't so hot.Last year in the 40 every day & that is normal for this show & if they do decide to implement the heat policy show is cancelled or postponed or started earlier/latter
  6. Here are bubs are exposed to all & sundry ,all shapes & sizes. The big dogs interact from the day they are born & our bitches have always been the more the merrier when it comes to sharing. Here are 2 photo's 1 is off our beautiful (RIP ) grey who always came into milk & was foster mum for any bub & was just baby mad & the other is of one of our babies at 5 weeks **Should ad this pup was docked when it was legal **
  7. I suppose it depends on the breed. My puppies start escaping the whelping box at about 10 days and by 4 weeks are racing around the yard, playing, chasing, digging, climbing, doing lots of interesting stuff. One of my friends has another breed and they just stay in the whelping box eating and sleeping and looking cute until about 5 weeks. The difference between the development of the breeds is quite astounding. The same thing applies with food. By 6 weeks our puppies can tackle a chicken wing, unsoaked puppy kibble and love to gnaw on a hard 2x4 biscuit but I have heard other breeders comment that their 6 week old puppies struggle with puppy kibble unless it is well soaked. So when you have visitors in can also depend on how advanced your puppies are in development. Ours are on solids by 4 weeks & out & about but size wise we are talking about half the size of a chi . I now when we had our large breed babies that there where certainly more capable at a younger age.
  8. 6 weeks here plain & simple. All the meet & Greets have been done before the pups arrive . The pups aren't doing anything intersting prior too. We have pups here who have just hit 5 weeks they are really grasping the world & experiencing new things by 6 weeks they are ready for new people & will do the things people expect. I see no point sitting with people when they just lay there like blobs. We don't do it as a quarantine thing but simply as case of there not doing anything that will allow the pet owners to enjoy that time & the pups prior too that are still learning about the new things/outside etc etc & we are in no rush for people to come & visit. At 6 weeks there fun/cute & there personalities have been established & we have a fair idea of which pups will best suit those on the list . If we have people around they will see the pups because they need to be exposed to the world & yes germs/bugs BUT puppy owners no we don't have out
  9. Tinea cream will be no issues. You can also place each foot in plain white vinegar but the tinea cream works a treat to soothe the issue & then just maintain. It could very well be a brass reaction but because they lick the feet so much it then causes often that horrid itchy feeling which then like to soothe
  10. I would be heading of to a repo vet & looking at why she is missing & addressing that area.
  11. As it is a mini my first suggestion would be to treat the feet for Tinea. Mini's have been known to chew there front feet if there anal glands are blocked. Tinea is a common issue with many breeds with hairy feet that tend to stay moist & very few vets will consider treating this & go to the behaviour issues/drugs etc etc. Tinea will make them like more & more because it soothes the issue at the time BUT create's a bigger issue whilst doing it. We tell our mini owners to go to the chemist & get tinea cream .If really bad we will poodle feet when grooming or suggest there groomers do it to allow the area to dry . We also suggest wiping with 3% hydrogen peroxide for the supermarket. Also does the dog have bad ears ??
  12. Some of the schnauzer people may not attend the royal as the Schnauzer club show is the day before
  13. Safety & security is the owners responsibility & the same applies to any dog show.Dogs at normal shows are not exempt from the public who infact do get closer to the dogs but no one seems to have an issue there ??So why should the standards be different at a royal. If this dog was stolen from SACA what would people then be saying ,No Public at all ?? Everyone knows the routine of a royal & like already said you either enter or you don't . I have attended Perth/Melbourne & Adelaide royals all where the public have close contact & it has never been an issue with safety when you use common sense & take your own precautions. The same precautions we also take with our valuables/handbags etc etc.
  14. There are no shows local.it is Geraldton weekend

  18. When applying for a job you now what you are applying for. This is a Pet shop that sells animals as part of your job you now you have to sell what is in that shop. To be honest if your not prepared to do what this job requires then i wouldn't apply . You aren't going to change what isn't broken in the pet shops view & as already mentioned what that franchise practices are. I guess the main thing is you hate your current job but you atleast have a job. If you resign from that job to work at this place & then resign in a few weeks where will you work considering you say you are having issues getting the jobs your applying for
  19. Yep currently bottle feeding one & mother has rejected her litter completely so another bitch has taken on the pups . Zombie feeling is alive in this house

  21. Puppy contracts can vary greatly . Our contract outlines all the things our new owners are already made well aware of prior to committing to a pup. Our contract covers that they have recieved diet sheet breed specific info(diet/grooming/introductions to new things/worming/vacc/breed specific health issues/things to avoid/health clearances of parents & the list goes on. It covers if sold as show/pet on main or limited . Spay aspect Both parties sign that all the required needs to care for this pup have been handed over & what paperwork also go with "said ". We ensure all our owners are fully aware of what they are signing for . Generally we hand the puppy pack over a week before the pup is going so they can read through & ask questions where required or that haven't already been discussed. If people want a copy of our contract they can take that too. I have rarely heard of any issues with contracts WITH facts from both sides.
