1292 but that number also includes the veterans so maybe take out 40/50 vets Wow really, that's the size of an average Melbourne show. Yep

If it was me I would be taling to a importer (shipper) in the UK. they will know all the rules. Seems strange they would want rabies, 1 month titer and 6 month waiting period. That is more than they want to import from the US/Canada which actually has rabies (can travel from the US to the UK now with a pet passport) I know this as some friends of mine took dogs over (US to UK) for a trail last year. No quarrantine, right off the plane and straight to the trial. One person from Canada sold their dog in the Uk and left it there. All with no dramas at all. Yes I would be talking to an importer in the UK. To gain instant entry via pet passport rabies is part of the deal. The US dogs would also have followed the same protocol ,the main difference with manu US dogs is they are current for rabies vacc It is also a requirement to enter many of the Euro countries through England or direct . Rabies is still an issue in europe & was one of the biggest concerns when the train tunnel was built from France to the UK. I would call the AQIS approved vets & see if any have stock also if havinga more defiant booking through a shipper it may gain you a quicker process

Not in any way defending this person showdog I think we have a similar opinion on this person. And I advise the OP to visit a recommended Flat Coated breeder then the one in question, that is the best advice I can offer. No just making sure people realize the flatties seen at the shows are other exhibitor's because i now Sonja does a great job bringing her multi purpose dogs out & the other people also show when possible plus the other lady from the country with some of Joy Greggs girls Flatties certainly arent shown very often at shows. The only exhibitor who showed every weekend was Joy Gregg before she moved to NSW about 4 yrs ago if not more She started showing Dancingate stock but her foundation breeding stock where Bushman dogs & showed them for many years & now has UK imports . When Joy left the breed was occasionally shown What i would suggest to the OP anyway if breeding is something you may wish to do you will need to see which breeder's will sell you a bitch with main papers & you will need to join the canine,do the breeder's exam for your prefix. You may find not all the breeder's here will sell a pet bitch with main papers so your choices are limited anyway . Plus if there isn't a spare main suitable bitch you may have to wait until the next litter unless the breeder is happy to sell any bitch for breeding & again that is where you decide what breeder will best sut you & your own plans

yes judges can ask for a judging fee some from reasonable to to many clubs set limits in there contracts. many don't or hand it back as a donation.

Yes I have seen them bring a golden out a few times this year. Have not seen them out with a Flat Coat though. yes always have shown but had a break of a couple of years, doing well in the ring too ... actually back to the OP, there are other flatcoats and a litter is due according to the breed pages, plus maybe go to the show on gundog day, chat with people watch the lovely flatcoats there and get some advice. We had one in rescue a couple of years ago, the most stunning black dog. No offence i show gundogs & have done so for over 24 yrs & they haven't shown Flatties on a regular basis for many years many except the odd ones owned by others that haven,t been shown for a number of years either & the goldies have only attended a small number of shows & not winning anything major,They have won the occasional first some undefeated though.

It has been common knowledge amongst the mini people that the whites had been voted for in the UK quite some time back & where awaiting the UK kennel club to make the final approval . Now that it has been approved & may not have been clear when the show had started it can be pursued . The Mini schnauzer club of NSW have there champ show next month so we will see what happens there

Yes they may have but i now for fact in the past they have struggled for reliable help . The obedience committee members on the WC is very small compared to the show people . The WC committee aren.t allowed to handle at the event so not sure if this applies to dog sports aswell ?? The committee either end up not entering at all at this prestigous event so it can be run for others or if lucky enough find good handlers to take the dogs in . Not sure if this applies to the obedience people As for the COW many hands make light work & people help set up/pack up ?
-
I was also under the impression that helpers from the obedience world was very lacking & that the show people have been doing more than there share of work over the years . I personally now the work put in by the committee & the show people regarding the obedience section it it is many many many hrs during the day & the event . Remember people you can be part of the WC committee These events don't run by themselves

Exactly ,also offering a spare umbrella you have . I recall a show i attended last year in the east, stinking hot,the judge was certainly feeling the heat & yes had to have time out due to it . The one thing i remember that day was exhibitors coming together & helping the club & the judge to deal best with the situation. People loaned cool vest/hats/neck ties, they where refreshed by exhibitors ring side .These people all acted like human beings & NOT one person whinged or whined they where gaining browny points & YES i was one of those people . Did i win yes & with dogs who constantly win anyway. The judge was so grateful for the actions of the exhibitors & the compassion shown. Should we have done bugger all??

Oh no the scone conspiracy . When i first started showing ( i was very young) canine members of all ages would fall over themselves helping out clubs with doing the basic tasks .People did this because helping out was a respectful thing to do . Committee members are often run off there feet doing many tasks & the simple jobs often get forgotten & a helping hand is very much appreciated after all shows don't exist without volunteers/committee/stewards & helpers When i served on a committee that required adult help again we where grateful for any person who would do small simple things to allow us to keep working. These days you struggle to get committee members & volunteers because you are accused of doing something "sinister" . I do have to ask did the scone make them win anything special??Did you specifically follow this person all day to see what other things they did??

The must be the only breeder who uses this method. Breeders encourage people to meet the dam & interact with her & meet all the pups even if you can't select one there & then. You can't always meet the sire but if there you should also be able to meet him & again interact. The disease factor is total rubbish . They didn't pioneer the practice at all & i think Flatties are one of the breeds where testing before registering a litter is compulsory
-
Like already said if you like there stock go buy from there.largest kennel means diddly squat & they don't show there dogs they just have pups all the time.

Asked our friend who believes it wasn't a topic, there is another person we will ask next week who also attended the show & would now more if it was a topic.
-
Within my breed 12 is considered average & not one of them rushes out for c section & the greater percentage all whelp natural with no issues or tiring . Just make sure your vet works after hours as many don't & you have to go else where & be sure they now what there doing if you do need to head done that path
