  1. Just remember some off the meds plays havoc with there bladder,my boy needed to wee alot & couldn,t hang on for long so we did alot of pee breaks which for him helped him use his lungs plus got him walking about obviously in small doses. Good luck having been there done that i now the joy you feel
  2. Moa Perrson isn't coming the replacement is David markus(SP) canada
  3. Yep to above & totally agree about the conditioning to many people forgot the dog also needs to build up to distance & a pace even if slow a jog is very different to a walk.
  4. Showdog, what is Noni juice?? It is a human product that cancer people use, vile stuff the smell alone was enough to make me barf BUT my boy couldn't eat & the health aspect of this stuff is amazing .He wasn't on it long but it worked well for him BUT my boy was never like yours. We also used a caffeine product from the US that is no longer available in aust.As he was unable to walk we had to do regular physio to ensure the phlegm didn,t build up .we also had to make him walk because i do believe without making him feel loved that he would have given up.Our vet sad over & over again if it wasn't for our commitment he would have died.He slepted with me anyway but i did hourly wake ups through the night to do physio & get him to walk about .The first 72 hrs felt like a week. he was obviously on fluids within reason & food supplements BUT it was keeping him alert that was the key in my boy's case. As for time i was realistic & set 2 week goals ,when he reached each 2 week we where a tad more confident HE DID have alot of relapses & often severe . I found he recovered quickly from the pneumonia in that sense but he lost alot of weight & muscle condition during recovery & that was the hardest aspect to work with but not the end of the world & in many ways with your boy being young it would be easier than at full adult weight.
  5. I have had a dog with pnuemonia. The vet didn't expect him to last 24 hrs from the time we took him in & he wasn't that sick we just new there was something a tad off so went to the vet ,he had very ealy signs & within 24 hrs was at death door . We nursed him at home he survived & lived another 5 yrs(he was 7 at the time). I would have to say having us around, doing physio was the best thing out.In my boys case he was so weak he couldn,t walk at all nor eat.he was on heavy meds plus we combined it with natural ,the noni juice worked wonders but it is stuff He wasn't the healthiest dog afterwards & it was almost like he ended up with asthma but he lived a very full & normal life running an acre just simple things like fires would make him weeze & he did end up with a bad heart which was associated to his illness but for a dog that was literally dead in many ways he recovered well all considering . We went back daily to our vet & he was amazed each day we turned up. Dogs are such tough critters so good luck
  6. I would be careful on humid days with an air con unless refrigerated It won't work as you plan & will infact will make that area hotter
  7. Everyone should check this site It appears they have taken details from DOL & other sources & have the details associated with the wrong breed, wrong owners & many more . If you have an issue email & complain Link removed by Troy as the info appears to have been removed now.
  8. Hi all, This was posted on Facebook & i suggest anyone who advertises on DOL check it out. They have placed the wrong kennel names with the wrong people & breeds ,very poor taste is all i can say Link removed by Troy as it appears to be fixed now.
  9. I would suggest a Tibetan Terrier wonderful dogs with kids
  10. I won't use them, have seen to many dogs who didn't do well on them & the flip side of bad stacking habits.
  11. Dogs don't have to be fat nor do show people strive for it but muscle & condition go hand in hand & skinny dogs being shown is just as bad as fat. My show dogs aren't fat & in the past my show dogs also did agility but agility has now become a sport for select breeds so i no longer compete as i won't put them at risk with courses not friendly to all shapes & sizes.
  12. Depends what you actually want to learn,i wouldn't bother with either
  13. Another thing to consider is some dogs are very long in loin & no amount of feeding will make them fat
  14. Considering i would never feed the brand that is there major sponsor i dare say its another RSPCA sneaky way of gathering data
  15. Bunbury KFC is fine providing you are happy to wait like 30/40 mins for an order Last year they stuffed our orders up so badly & then had a tainty when we complained & asked for our correct orders . Macca,s next door is great but you need to beat the cricket dudes there :p
  16. http://nzpapclub.tripod.com/competition/flyball.htm This litlle package could catch a ball & trust me she was a small yank
  17. My boy is ball trained,he also knows how to bounce to get a ball . Spends all day with a ball in his mouth.Lizzie also has a body suit plus wearing the snood
  18. I heard one of the vic teams was maybe coming over to demonstrate. Im lucky i have my own personal trainer for flyball who has a Flyball master excellent titled dog Would you use one of your Setters? That would be awesome to see! yep ,my boys rellie & personal trainer if need be http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/profile.asp?dog=19970 .i use to own a flyball box when it was becoming known here about 15 yrs ago,the dog i trained for it was an american Cocker who weighed in at 9kg

  20. Greys are very wash & wear. Our show greys we did use to blow dry in winter & summer but this isn't a must do thing. Spray wise we used very little,if any maybe some plush puppy shine on . We did use white chalk on the partis if needed(we only showed partis & a solid blue) Lead wise ours where shown on very fine corded leads & one on a fine snake chain. Coat wise we always made our own to fit there body shape correctly . As for showing/stacking go to shows & watch the hound ring. Breeds of similar style (borzois/whippets/salukis) will give you many tips on how to show . The whippets will educate you on working there ears(if correct) for expression. If you own a video camera video video video ,you could practice with the 2 you have now. Check the DOL pages & look at the photo's of the grey's stacked.when practicing ALWAYS use a mirror or reflective surface & above all Greys can be a very animated breed so foster that ,nothing worse than a deep pain Grey running around the ring. Don't rush out & buy things, ask your breeder what they have found works well .
  21. Her breeder has suggested that her back may be out, and asked about her tail carriage at home. It's up at home 95% of the time, so we have ruled out a chiro issue. I wouldn't rule it out if you have one up there. Tail carriage doesn't mean her back either. There are 2 muscles either side of the tail that if out will affect the tail carriage & create a lazy tail
  22. Not sure what you have up there but my first port of call would be a doggy chiro /bowen.I always prefer to make sure bodily they can do the activities asked for before attempting to overload them with activities that may have the same result I see to many dogs dragged around the ring or unhappy looking because they are sore /out & the likes
