May not last long in your breed but that rule doesn't apply to all breeds . Mini's if allowed can become very vocal & if said pup acquires the scream heaven help the neighbour next door there not a joy to live with when you have a vocal mini. Just stick to the routine When you say return is this from a days work or every time you return?? If from work the greeting could be more from wanting dinner.if its all the time then stick to your guns. Is pup a black/silver??

Glenelg to two wells isn't that far away for a vet who knows the breed . Her back could be out & need a chiro/bowen visit .

I don't understand They don't, naturally, have a fluorescent or chalky white coat. However, they do gleam without tampering. Of course, I could twist the rules and say: "Yeah but; yeah but." I have shown white dogs all my life & with a good wash regime my dogs are shown in sparkling white condition White dogs come in varying shades & qualities & they way the colour looks to the eyes also varies greatly & it doesn't mean it has been washed in a blue shampoo. Many breeds have very bright whites naturally so i hope you aren't saying if its too bright it is enhanced because that is one big call??

Keep in mind your old dog wouldn't have understood the pup will be a permanent thing. As he has never had to share his house, his routine, his spots he will be facing a massive change at his age which he will most likely have his nose put out by because no matter what pups are cute & people forget about the older dog especially when it does things the oldie doesn't anymore. You have to look at the old dogs routine & see what changes might need to be made ie; if he has access to an area all day but the pup won't be allowed there how you will deal with it especially if people work. If you have left food down for the oldie how to change the routine & above all the oldie needs time out for the pup not only now but latter one when it wants to play & starts to annoy the oldie . What reason did the vet give for adding a pup??? Just remember for many positives there is also alot of negatives so be prepared for both

How Long Would You Leave Your New Dog In Quarantine
Dogsfevr replied to heroeswit's topic in General Dog Discussion
Our dog did 63 days no issues BUT that was when you could visit daily mon fri & because she was long term you could go am & pm. Any dogs from South Africa do 6 months here plus quarantine in S Africa before they leave unless they do a residency in the US(or similiar) for 6 months then 30 days in Australia. Many dogs do the 3 months due to paperwork not being complete . By choice we would have done 30 days but our dog came out during 9/11 & flights where being cancelled & they where also not moving live stock so we opted to have the dog here & do longer -
Not for me because i am hopeless at exams & explaining myself . Although i am a junior handler judge which i thoroughly enjoy & have judged 2 State Finals in the East

I now there are many horse folk here so thought i would remind those with Foxtel that they have started to show the World Equestrian games.I have watched the Endurance & reigning events thus. The reigning horses where stunning & dressage Anky competed with a to die for palomino. They have re runs on & next week day 3/4

I'm very sure, though not 100%, that the only things you need to look out for when feeding dals is organs, such as liver and possibly heart that are high in purines! some people will argue that high protein levels which are found in these organs contribute to stone development, but a dog cant live healthily with out enough protein in its diet! So its not a good idea to feed an adult dogs a restricted protein diet. its the purines that you have to watch out for! a raw diet, contrary to what you might think, is in fact LOWer in protein than most high quality kibble foods. you have to remember that meat has a very high water content as well as a little fat, so its not 100% protein! Quite often, most meats have at most 30% protein levels, usually less. also because it is high in water, your dalmation is getting more water than if it was only fed on kibble, therefore reducing the risk of dehydration and the formation of kidney stones! I am aware of that also having a breed predisposed BUT many people aren't i have seen bad management in raw feeding within my own breed & the issues it has created BUT quantities in all the meats still play a factor which many people still don't consider a factor Like all things there are varying views but something that must be remembered in breeds with issues in this area & not all people are aware or made informed off "Green Light" Purines. The following foods are considered virtually purine-free and get the "green light" in terms of being used in diets and as treats for dogs predisposed to forming stones: * Whole grain, yeast-free breads and cereals * Most vegetables, including potatoes (see exceptions below) * Fruits (avoid acidic citrus) * Nuts (including peanut butter) * Pasta * Eggs * Cheese * Milk * Butter "Yellow Light" Purines. The following foods are considered to contain a moderate level of purines and are acceptable in diets for stone-forming dog breeds. Most or even all of your Dalmatian's protein sources should come from this list as opposed to the "Red Light" purines listed in the next section. * Most poultry, including chicken and turkey * Fish and shellfish (see exceptions below) * Lamb, pork, and beef * Oats and oatmeal "Red Light" Purines. The following foods contain the highest levels of purines and should be avoided as much as possible to help prevent stone formation: * Organ meats – kidneys, livers, brains, hearts, sweetbreads, etc. * Game meats such as venison, duck, and goose * High-purine seafoods – sardines, mackerel, mussels, and scallops * High-purine vegetables – cauliflower, spinach, peas, mushrooms, and legumes (kidney beans, navy & lima beans, lentils) * Yeast (including brewer's yeast) * Gravies

Make sure you keep in mind though Dallies are predisposed to stones & the diet should also consider what can create this issue as well. Many meats can be an issue here so be sure to research thoroughly & understand changing the diet within this breed the effects it can have

We bottle feed & brought in special premmie teats from the US & they learn to suck very quickly,we found tube feeding didn't assist in this area We have no luck with any of the formulas but always had success with goats milk but you must add cream. Here it would be bottle feed & we would still try with the bitch especially during day feeds
-
Not us but we did contact some of the boarding kennels/catteries that way & they said they where fine but they now we are ready to assist if need be especially with the smoke issue alone

But remember you can bring parvo home on your shoes, car wheels & the list goes on. BUT being vaccinated doesn't mean they still can't get it so its a catch 22 . We had a dog over 24 yrs ago get parvo twice in 6 months ,that was when there was true outbreak, the area of issue was Willetton Sports Club ovals & Burrendah Primary/Willetton High School ovals(shared) It had tragic consequences on many families . Our girl was vaccinated & lucky due to being so on the ball we picked it up quickly . I tend to believe the currents issues aren't anything more than normal & considering many vets label everything as parvo irrespective then it is hard to tell what is true parvo & what isn't especially when the results will always come back positive with alive vaccine. The last "outbreak" we asked a number of vets & not one had seen any cases or heard via the vet sector of a true outbreak

They where originally breed as ratters although most now wouldn't have the instincts to rat. They are a companion breed that thrives on human companionship BUT the greater majority of our owners work & don.t have issues, our original dogs where also home alone during working hrs & never had an issue,we now work from home. They aren't a breed that you simply pat on the head & remember about in the next few days, they are very much a touchy breed that love to sit on you & interact & if people don't want a "touchy" breed then i wouldn't recommend a mini. They certainly can about to being alone for work hrs but if people aren't home or don't want to spend much time with a dog than there they could become an issue due to thriving on pleasing there owners & being part of a family .also we have found those people who have not included the mini as part of there via our grooming clients are often the worse for brushing because they don't spend the time the breed needs. They are very smart, learn very quickly & adapt well to most situations BUT they do need brushing weekly & this needs to be trained into the dog ,they aren't destructive normally & generally not barkers but as i said they thrive on companionship which is what they major role is now. The main issue (which applies to any breed) is there cute when they come home & people let them get away with things that aren't suitable habits at 12 months, mini's being smart will learn to take every inch from gullable owners who allow it

Here its the boys & we find the Blacks to be more touchy/feely than the S/P although all still happy to great us. But our boys have always been more loving than our girls

Base The Cost Of A Dog On Colour, Why?
Dogsfevr replied to Kristin Dwyer's topic in General Dog Discussion
We have imported a black & would never dream of charging more for a colour ,its like charging more because it.s an oodle . Makes no sense to say charge more for a colour then go berko at pet shops for charging more because it's a DD. In our breed we certainly do have people who charge more & QLD is the main culprit. We have a rush on people wanting Black/Silver a colour we don't breed & yes many have brought some very poor animals due to colour at a higher price .The sad part is the breeding will not produce a quality B?S & with age have ended up dark Salt/Pepper . But you get a handful of people who want something bad enough & will pay for it but we won't take advantage of those said people. All pups in the litter where breed as equals & are sold as equals . rubbish Each to there own Steve, you charge more (your words -

All of the above although we in the MINI"S only find the males more loving. If she is wanting a Std though then that is whole different kettle of fish. Std's are working dogs & of great intelligence,to own a Std is like owning a GSD,Rotti,Dobe & the likes they are powerful dogs, very stubborn & certainly dominant & in the wrong home a bad combination, they need lots of mental stimulation or they are a nightmare to live with, they are very agile & if board will jump fences with ease. They are wonderful gurad dogs & will protect there family till the end, they can be bad barker's though. They cost more to groom as there a bigger dog . The Std.s come in Black & Salt/Pepper. As yet we don't have White mini's in Australia but that is sure to change. If she was researching the cavie & westie then she doesn't want a Std

Puppy Returned As Owners Can't Have A Dog Where They Live
Dogsfevr replied to wintacove's topic in Breeders Community
This why your puppy sales contract should clearly state refund policies . We take our dogs back irrespective of age if it was to happen but it is clearly stated what our refund policy is regarding the age & time frame. In this case yes we would refund the purchase price PROVIDING after a vet inspection it past in the same condition as left & yes we have this clearly stated. Should add we want our pups returned so we always make it easy but we wont be used either -
For our dogs that would be a massive over feed.

Regarding Albany you pay the same fee as the dog exhibitors Considering how much Albany dog club just spent on all the new equipment for the obedience/agility people i would see no reason to complain on the entry fee considering the massive costs they have to get judges & the likes up there. They also need to make some sort of money to keep going. Just remember if obedience don't support these clubs & whinge at cost then this is why clubs drop those events. The show people enter many dogs & don't complain & we all have the same expenses to get up there

What where you feeding prior to his weight management change>> His bringing up bile could also be related to the change of food because weight management may not agree with his system. If he is still getting fat & getting no other foods & you have stuck to a specific cup/weight routine PLUS taken into account anything added like bones etc etc then health issues need to be considered What are you feeding & how much Our guys who run an acre daily for hrs get 1/2 -1/3 cup of royal canin plus there tuckertime roll about 1/2- 1/3 cup varying on age & ability to put on weight. Ours don't get bones or other real treats.
-
You also need to remember if you have an unfenced backyard & the pup isn't able to go outside & play like it is use to then you are also creating a needy pup because it has no choice. It is at present reliant on you for everything so it is unsure of where it stands in the being independent. Springers are also known as being very needy & clingy .

Yep so very true & the reason why the Asthma foundation no longer recommend breeds because people can still react. I now people who have severely reacted to poodles but not schnauzers etc etc. We get alot of calls as our breed is more that is more suitable for allergies but we always advice that it's no guarantee . Breeds considered more suitable generally are high maintenance due to them being non shedding in the traditional way but still shed when brushed. schnauzers Bichon poodles Bedlington Kerry Blue Soft Coated Wheaton Portuguese water dog lowchen Havanese Other breeds can be suitable but shed naturally not from brushing. Schnauzers when clipped end up with a soft coat BUT breeds like Welsh which have the harsher coat do shed
