  1. I thought they only had visiting on Tuesday & Thursday afternoon ??
  2. I would have much prefered he be on the early morning plane however there is no convincing his breeder to wake that early. That is a shame i gather they won't do the last night flight either ?? Are you doing it through Qantas or Virgin?? Are you hiring or buying a crate??
  3. Every room in our house has stable doors. All the doors have been cut in half & still able to be locked into one. It means all rooms are open to light/air con/heating but no dogs can go in . best thing we ever did & looks so much homely than baby gates every where. Our house is fully tiled & they can't go to the front half of the house. There house yard is fully paved & totally patio in so in winter no rain & summer nice shady & cool ,we could add over head fans if we wished but they have 24/7 access to house. The big yard is all grass
  4. Is that the only time the pup can fly out?? I fly often but wouldn't chose a midday flight in summer to depart. The generally suggest limiting the water because if the crate is soiled before leaving they won't load the pup. I do fly with water containers or guinea pig waters in my crates & never had an issue.I freeze the water bowls
  5. A show run in WA raised over $20 000 to be used by all dogs Vic members in need that also doesn't count the containers of crates.dog needs/fencing that was sent over This money was raised by Pure & (associate) crossbreed members Elitist no,caring & concerned for people in there org yes . This is a time when members within there community/hobbies band together & help .
  6. Can the crate go in your car & she travel in it??
  7. Yep we will be supporting it for fellow dogs QLD members & i am sure the international community will also dig deep like they did for Victoria.
  8. Baer testing, for 3 years i got the run around by our university that did do the testing. They told me the machine was broken, then another excuse & another. It seems the they never trained anyone to use the equipment & it does seem to need repair. They have never bothered to fix or train someone so a very needy & simple test goes out the door We then had another vet who brought some equipment in but insisted the dogs are done under GA/sedative I don't think so but that is there method so i now of very few people who have actually used the equipment & if it even exists. There was at one stage lecturer from the US coming out to Oz .He does portable testing at shows & was bringing his gear out but he wasn't able to come in the end which was a shame as we had actually planned amongst many breeders to get dogs tested . ideally one would want a litter tested prior to leaving .Luckily at this stage i don't breed this breed but i wanted my dog tested as did the breeder & both parties where stuffed In the end the only option was east luckily i combined it with a show but irrespective my only choice is to fly east & to fly a dog of his weight costs $300 then airfare etc etc all for something that takes less than half an hr.I am in a position to afford the expense . Now when i go east each year for shows i get what dogs i take tested for anything i can't get done here In the perfect world we would all like to test for many things & the vets & orgs can bad mouth/criticize issues in some breeds BUT these same orgs don't provide the services to make breeding these animals easier yet expect us to be above & beyond. The vet industry also need to address there expectations of us & start providing services Aussie wide. Lets face it Heart clinics are very hard to come by in many states & its only due to breeds clubs often funding there own clinics & flying these people over that it gets done.Problem is these clinics often have limited spaces & it could be 6/12 months latter before the next one or again you fly east . We have many good vets here are certainly spot on in listen to hearts BUT they can't give you that piece of paper to make the difference Eye specialists we have 3 some other area,s have not one & again you are then left with no option to fly east or drive for what should be a simple service. I feel for the people in the NT
  9. I will be honest & say some have good plans some don't. It really comes down to the time frame as well & the actual issue it self We certainly have plans here for fire & area's that we would head to that are safe. We ourselves many moons ago where on stand by to go & we where all packed & ready. We have helped other kennels to evacuate & in each case all has went well with no issues at all. The dog/kennel world band together very well at these times when possible
  10. So breeder should sell pups all on main even if they don't meet the requirements of main & mislead there owners into thinking the pup they have is suitable for showing when it obviously isn't?? People need to remember you don't have entire litters of show quality/obedience champions/agility champions. You don't always have litters of the sexes everyone wants or the colours or the markings. Many are simply wonderful pets for various reasons. I wouldn't buy from a breeder who places everything on main & it isn't about restrictions but selling a pup suited for each registry the best they can. I have now co owned 15 dogs ,Multi BIG or Multi BISS or BIS winners & have enjoyed wonderful success in the ring & gained a great deal of trust from the breeders who have allowed me to take on these dogs & from other breeder who wish i would take these. I have never had issues getting a show dog . Pretty miss emma just be honest about what you want,be willing to learn . The biggest issue many breeders have had is selling pick pup only for people to decide they can't be bothered showing & then all parties miss out on a good dog being shown. As dog sports is also a keen thing of yours look at breeders who either compete in both or have dogs in there breeding with dual titles . Many of the BC breeders seem to enjoy having dogs out there in both fields & if showing ended up not being your thing but you still where happy for the dog to be shown your breeder may show the dog & you can enjoy from the sidelines & compete in your obedience sports
  11. Our pups have free access to the backyard from 6 weeks, they run half an acre & are smaller than a chihuahua at that age. They are taught to use the doggy Door & would go mental without being outside for more than just a quick pee run. I guess you need to weigh up have much EXTRA time you wish to put in by not having a fenced yard,it will be more work because your pup will be reliant on you for toilet/play & more than a 5 min quick go pee. If the pup starts to destroy the house you will have to accept that unless you plan to keep it crated ??? Like Miranda said many wont sell unless you have a secure fence before hand & to be honest i would wait until you are able to have a pup at home safe & secure & able to do the things it needs. Having the same breed as Miranda i would hate to bring a pup home not have it be able to run outside i think i would need a rubber room to survive ;) I guess you need to ask your self even with the fence is the yard ready for a pup ??
  12. We where told lure coursing in WA wasn't able to be done due to the race/gaming industry. But i believe people forget that what one state can do doesn't mean every other one can & when people say you should only buy if the breeder can do A,B or C then you again will have many confused people because it isn't that simple. Like a say a certain test for many breeds that would be considered a "tick" in the box for the MDBA breeders will mean a number of states breeders will not be able to conform unless they fly or drive east to have such tests done. As i said i had to fly east to have 1 of those tests considered very important in my breed & i totally agree with BUT if i had a litter for starters i couldn't fly them all over in one trip, they couldn't be tested before leaving due to the age of flying or spent 2/3 days driving to have said tests done which could be in the middle of summer in 40 heat & i wouldn't drive pups of that age . Great for those who live in the states that have every thing at there finger tips but as always the "others" who make up Australia get lumped into the one pile of it applies to all even if it is near impossible
  13. People need to remember that not all states have the same laws regarding certain aspects & some states . WA does not do lure coursing/earthdog.We are not the only state. COE for any org has to keep in mind that one rule doesn't fit every state. As an example for health testing i had to fly my dog east to be tested for one of the issues in the breed because like other states we don't have all the bells & whistles like NSW/VIC. That 1 test meant $300 just to fly the dog plus my airfare
  14. Are you a member of the Border Collie club in Victoria?? Be honest with the breeders, inform them of what achievements you have done with first dog & what your hoping to do with the next one. Go to shows but obviously the breed club & working dog club shows would be a great start
  15. Would a coat king or a furminator work? What is a coat king? I have a shedding comb but that is not going to crack the mustard I think his fur needs to be thinned out by clippers etc so the air can actually get to his skin. His problem spots are his neck and back area. Clipping won't solve the issue at all.Clipping will make the problem coat thicker & become a bigger issue each year . Hot spots aren't usually caused by thickness but the actual undercoat not being removed ,moisture, diet, bites. Swimming will be your biggest issue . The thing is the dog needs to be done through weekly from tip to tail & the right tools will get it out The coat king & Furminator remove the dead coat not thin it out the dead coat/under coat is generally more obvious in the pants, rump & neck & if dogs wear collars often the neck line is stripped by the colour & the area around very bulky

Two, two type1 helicopter and four fixed wing water bombers have been sent to protect crews and homes. Firefighters are protecting homes in Armstrong Hills and Tuart Grove subdivisions. 17. I handled a dog that had fallen of show stackers & became a mess. The dog was very hard to groom & had a complete fear of the table, luckily he was stacked on the ground but still showed a fear of that position . I have seen the best & worse of them. I have seen dogs who yes trained well & i have sen dogs who after being trained on them looked like robots with no passion I prefer to simply train them & address my isues in the way the dog is being handled . Do you use a mirror when practicing stacking??Has someone video you to see if you are adding to the issue ?? Does the dog stack for someone else on the table?? Are you using the same stacking method on the floor & Table??
  18. Um pretty obvious you have made out that the MDBA breeders are elite & above law so why would you want members who are also ANKC that follow a COE that is against the MDBA ?? You have gone on who ANKC allow crossbreeds but you wont & the list goes on . You can't have your cake & eat it .
  19. Annie just remember one thing the MDBA are happy to accept ANKC members & hold dual membership so whose COE do they follow? If that aspect is important to you then surely you would want them to be an MDBA breeder only then??
  20. Ain't that the truth i am a full time groomer & see these animals weekly where there loving owners are unable to spend 10 mins a week to brush them . Bad owners come in all forms
  21. I do remember the ANKC where getting advise from the ACCC on the trades practices act on what a hobby breeder was entitled to before that happened.
  22. I would be interested to now where a MDBA member would stand on the Freedom of sales act??If ANKC can't stop it how do the MDBA expect too?? Ligate question when COE can be over run by govt regs on sales ??
  23. Um those COE are no more special than what ANKC members already abide by are you sure showdog? i thought ankc members were allowed to sell puppies to pet shops, i would like to know if i am wrong though. I believe through PIA accredited & it has to do with freedom of sale (govt law) This has also been an issue with exporting the Freedom of sales aspect . I don't agree with either but i do now this has been a major issue with many people over the years as to why it can't be stopped & it has come done to the Freedom of sales
