On the news tonight they where warning dog owners who swim or the dogs swim to be on the watch for Bull sharks after 4 juvenile ones have been caught Maylands & another area where higher risk. I have never seen sharks there although it is common knowledge they have been seen & spotted but the Biull shark wouldn't be the choice of shark to meet ,nasty buggers

Poor Old Staffords Being Dragged Around In The Heat
Dogsfevr replied to jadesamara's topic in General Dog Discussion
No dog should be walked in that heat but people do. many may take a dog out for a quick toilet break which i have no issues with but a walk beyond that is stupid, not only the heat on the feet but the obvious heat exhaustion risk. The sad reality is some people lack common sense . I remember a lady on TV whose dog was rushed to the Emergency vets saying how she couldn't understand why her little shih tzu collapsed whilst on a walk in 40 degree heat ,serioulsy how stupid can you be . Maybe contact your local radio station or paper & ask if they could remind people about the heat risk to dogs being walked in the extreme heat -

I have cool champions & the chamios ones & find them both excellent. I like having the option of the lighter chamois when needed & is easy to use in the ring

Minis are normally "everyone" dogs ,all ours are certainly active .We do occasionally get some pups that we now will be more laid back but generally speaking they are very sporting dogs provided they have been encouraged to continue that way. If the other dog was older & the mini wasn't encouraged to be more active then she has been trained into a routine You say the daughter since the other was PTS is now spending more time with the mini ,did she not before?? How old is daughter?? How involved will she be with the new dog?? Who will be the main care giver long term?? What is the nature of the mature mini ,does she interact with lots of young dogs,is she playful or more happy to just be people focused??

I haven;t used a giant but do own one but last year was the first time they measured my wires which are both max height ,have used those crates for 4 years with no checking . i would say you you wont be allowed or they will do it under the giant breed requirements

Seriously are you kidding or simply have no clue. Megz i have found the snake chains not to last like they use too for the price especially the fine ones. The thicker are just to chunky. I use the fine link now & they have lasted well

What are you using now ?? The good brands in Australia are more than suitable for 2 mini Schnauzers & as Becks say the faster they go the hotter blades get so you will need to buy extra blades to do the job.

Dogsfevr replied to jebee's topic in General Dog Discussion
Sorry but this is so not true & i do wish people would not make such claims when they have no idea about the breed -

Want A Dog, But Need Help Choosing A Breed.
Dogsfevr replied to jebee's topic in General Dog Discussion
I wouldn't be concerned about small because big dogs have there own pitfalls . I own both big & small .(7 kg up to 42 kg) i would suggest heading off to a dog show & seeing the breeds -
Sighthound doesn't equate to cat chaser. Any breed of dog can be a cat chaser more so than sightnounds. Sighthounds don't chase anything that moves . i now many sighhound breeders who also have cats & no issue

Want A Dog, But Need Help Choosing A Breed.
Dogsfevr replied to jebee's topic in General Dog Discussion
What breed do the other family members want?? What breed do your children like & what do they want from a dog ??Big/small/cuddly after all they will be sharing there backyard with the dog as well. Do you want lots of dog hair around or minimal. Would all family membners plus big dog fit into the car you have??(many end up with a dog that can't fit in the car with humans so it stays home) What is the main temp you want gentle /out there/easy going/laid back/never switched off?? -
Considering how many people openly bad mouth some dogs & then try & buy from that breeding via the back door i have no issues with it . As far as naming well that would be a no deal unless the dog had something very special to offer that meant a bright future in our programme . All our pups are sold on spay contract & would have no issues with early desexing & for many breeds these days it is the safest option to ensure there future . We have certainly weeded out some owners who i have no doubt where agents buying for puppy farms/export

Boarding Kennels, Anyone Recommend One?
Dogsfevr replied to moonbaby's topic in General Dog Discussion
You say your not interested in opinions from kennel owners . I am an owner & i will give my opinion because it is important Inspection by appointment if for the benefit of the dogs & there safety not to suit owners. The dogs in boarding are left in our care & owners expect every reasonable means to be taken to ensure that there dog isn't placed in undue stress & placed at higher rixk for something to happen. Many breeds are predisposed to gastric torsion(bloat) ,many factors can enhance the risk & a good kennel will do anything to lower it. Many dogs in boarding suffer from heart conditions, epilepsy, diabetes, elderly, frail.,cancer etc etc Kennels don't just board perfect dogs they board dogs with varying issues, needs & requirements. In summer we stick to our visiting times no matter what. Today for example we had 40 degrees & once the dogs where brought in from outside they where in strict "quiet time" until it cooled down for outside let out again. We would never under any circumstances have people visiting in that heat & disturb the dogs & would presume any responsible owner would applaud any kennel that considered the dogs needs far more important. Once the dogs are feed it is also quiet time & we feed when we are shut so dogs at high risk of bloat aren't over stimulated after eating & those dogs with any medical issue /prep are also done in quiet time As far as hiding anything you can't hide a filthy place Plus many kennels have to follow council regs on dog noise & have to have set times to meet there license but above all it is for the dogs best interest . I guess you need to ask yourself what type of care you expect when your dog is in boarding -
Yes Americans can come in Roan colours & you wouldn't find on in Australia. In Australia we do have some of the Sable colouring although again not many
