  1. My mum caught 2 kids at our show grounds lightening a fire next to cars & trailers.
  2. fergie if red head theme but i prefer to base on character
  3. Schnauzers are pigs & will eat till it kills them, It seems there was circumstances that could have caused the reaction & in hindsight better management but given the fact you have many young kids around seeking help would be a good start so all family members (including hubby )are aware. Purdie as far as chairs & beds rubbish my dogs have slept on the bed & slept on the couches for far to many years & never an issue . Never done the eating before hand as in my view it means bugger all to the dog. My guys are showdogs handled by strangers on occasions & young children . Dogs are no different to us & can have there moments it deosn't always equate to all hell breaking loss. Given how our minis sit looking at food it could be very likely the youngster did startle the dog even though no one thinks so
  4. Obviously the parents had no clue what there child was doing . Very scary to many kids running about at shows these days without parental control . Feel for the driver something no one wishes to experience
  5. So was the dog playing with the boys like you say & then after timeout snapped ?? Could the dog in all reality had enough of the children & you didn't see the signs ?? Minis shouldn't be possessive BUT we cant stress to our puppy owners the importance of making a Mini known you are approaching due to there eyebrows .Is the minis eye brows over grown?? Did the little one appear within its vision or out of vision & startle ?? I agree helped should be sort if you are unsure
  6. Google & there website comes up ,i wont post the link as its a site promoting breeders of pure & cross . Another group to confuse jo public
  7. Please don't rush to change the diet continue with the diet pup is use to & then slowly change over ,this is for the pups benefit not yours. Change of diet can affect there tummies & end up with a puppy with the runs or sick because the food was changed to quickly & even your breeder will tell you this. Also keep in mind because the product sounds great doesn't mean it will suit your pup so its all about trial & error . I now someone feeding it because there obsessed with "natural & free Off" It is a show Maltese it has a horrible dry coat with no lustre,it is severely underweight despite her feeding quantities that would suit a beagle. She wont change the diet because its the best in her view but it simply doesn't suit her dog I would discuss diet changes with the breeder ,they will be able to give some feed back or whether it has known issues within the breed or not . 2 of our pups recently came back for grooming at 5 months. Both have changed there diets to our sheet big time. 1 is growing to fast 1 has turned from Jet black to copper red as the diet isn't suitable all this in 9 weeks of change. The other pups we have seen all look super & correct for there age & have followed our diet chart or discussed options of change
  8. Does friend like heavy shedding ,one of the pitfalls of Labs
  9. Looking at the coat aspect it has key words that stand out . The faults Coat - Sparse, smooth, fine, soft & the word woolley all define in correct texture. BUT i guess it also comes down to whether the coat is blown & then how a judge understands this. When blown a perfectly correct coat can start to look long & wavy ,we have shown the occasional blown coat when needing those last points . I would imagine the Fauve coat to be similar to a Wire Haired Viszla style . The coat should be protective & workman like without being underdone or over done I have to ask it has a variation in the colour have you found the coat texture can vary
  10. I wouldn't get to deaf dogs even if i had the time . Watching our oldies here whether they be blind or going deaf we see how much they place trust in the younger dogs to lead them & be there eyes or ears. I see no issues in getting another dog now but would certainly pick a breed that will be a match in the sense of sensible & easy going with the hope both will work well as a pair. Having said that i do think allowing 12 months to really work hard on hand cues & routine would be very wise & see what works well with your boy whether it be the use of vibrations, hand cues
  11. Either would suit but as a past Greyhound owner(13) be aware that many parents have some crazy idea that Greys will chase down there children or are nasty Keep this in mind with the job you do
  12. I fondly remember the setter shows last year at Bulla ,Gordies we ran in mud, irish it was layers of water, the dallies had chanels & lakes . The dogs showed well & it was great fun .killed a $100 pair of shoes
  13. Except for the small lapdog aspect what other activities do they want to do with the dog. Go walking, not alot of walking, As far as grooming they are happy to pay for a groomers or importantly do regular brushing & i say this because we get many folks who start with a long coat fluffy who ends up so matted it becomes a short coat fluffy & ideally not always the best selection
  14. 8/9 weeks here only longer if where running to on or the reason was one that we are happy with We have had some people who thought 12 weeks meant less training for them in our last litter If they want it to stay till 12 weeks for no real good reason then we would charge them to look after because you do have to maintain/grooming/socializing/vaccs / training all things that the new owners should be doing at that age
  15. We certainly hope to be outside & the weather god better be listening .Last weekend was so nice outside & the dogs loved it Okay my friend posted the Jersey results from there actual website http://www.kennelclub.org.je/ They also have a Jersey kennel club FB page but they aren't a chatty bunch
  16. To be able to show the pup must be on main register Co ownership means the breeders name remains on the papers Co ownership can mean different things so its important to understand any of the aspects . I have owned 15 showdogs in co ownership & never ever had an issue
  17. I wouldn't base any decision on this factor at all.The fact there isn't a page doesn't mean anything at all. All the Shiba's i have seen at the shows have been very well behaved, a popular breed for junior handlers to borrow . Yes they are a spitz breed so will have the spitz characteristics but that doesn't equate to issues you need to understand tthe breed . People we now breed them here & also do obedience . We have boarded quite a few with no issues at all ,very laid back & adaptable
  18. we get lefy many messages but people speak so fast or say so much you can't understand it either. There have been so big show circuits as well so they may well be on the road or returning .
