  1. To be honest looking at the quantity i wouldn't think there is enough being feed, alot of the other stuff your giving isn't a meal food but add ons. Yoghurt & Sardines are just add ons .Potato & pumpkin are fillers ,nothing wrong but aren't for weight gain just variety,we use pumpkin for dogs who have had the runs . So basically his bulk meal depending on the size are just the barf patties which are often very small What your feeding may be fine but you need to adjust the size with age . You certainly need to feel the dog & this would happen when you are brushing the dog ??? You would feel the weight very easily coat doesn't make any difference . Massaging his testicles is easy but don't go overboard so the dog becomes paranoid again you can do this during grooming time which is touch & feel time. As for picking at food if he doesn't eat it it goes ,this applies to chicken necks, don't teach him to be fussy . Also keep in mind pup has lost its competion to eat so you need to fill that role so if any food hasn;t been eaten it goes in 10 mins . Our puppies we prefer to have good cover as they do grow quickly & do hit an age we underweight can suddenly turn into very underweight. Whilst lean is good too lean can also be an issue & not assist in growing up nicely. We see dogs that have been kept to lean as pups & very evident in adulthood . At 10 weeks you pup will be playing alot more so you need to do weekly weight assessments & adjust the meals accordingly
  2. Inside is just like Perth except walled in,can get airless. Outside is also just like Perth except we have better lawn, all in all no real difference except if it pours with rain & the car park gets tad soggy so pack shoes that your either happy to kill or can chuck or pack small gummies if the weather ends up wet
  3. If it has a good Cairn coat then it is easier to put the extra 30 mins in to do the work. It really isn't that hard if shown the basics. Much easier to maintain than a clipped coat ,if there is a good groomer near by getting them to go over the coat once /twice a year will also be helpful providing your friends do the work as well.
  4. I don't believe she is ,we aren't a fan of the ACES scheme so i think you would have to go through Rivergum & use Martin King,i think he may also work from Murdoch as well but not sure if he does breeder tests at Murdoch like Ziggy does. Through Rivergum it will most likely cost big $$$
  5. T=She works from either Swanbourne vet or Murdoch Uni
  6. The greater majority use Ziggy Chester for eyes As far as heart i now some cavie people had organized a heart testing day but can't remember whether its already been held
  7. I would maybe be open with the sex, For starters the breeder may have no girls in the litter . For example our last 2 litters have been all boys so those wanting girls only will be waiting alot longer . A good breeder will also be able to tell you if the bitches in the litter will suit a home with your child plus the friends that will visit. I think picking the right pup is often more important than the gender but you can certainly have your preference . Also keep in mind you may not be first on the list as well. Your daughter can certainly play a big part but make sure she understands the breeder will be playing a bigger part in selecting the right pup for you . When kids come out & see cute puppies they don't think with there heads they just see cuteness & want now . We often get parents or 1 parents come out & see the pups first to make sure they are happy with what they see before letting there children now or come out When people come out to look at our pups we see which ones interact best with children ,often we already now which pups will be better suited . As for involvement it comes down to age, breed & not teaching confusing signs to the dog but kids can certainly play a good part.
  8. Agree vaccinate pup as per schedule & then titre test if its a concern but i wouldn't be relying on natural vaccines & i am a big supporter of going the natural route 99% of the time but not for puppy vaccs .
  9. Finished around 11.15 pm. POTY Bullmastiff (senior) Junior winner Peke Was even colder by then
  10. It could be there faulty or it could be a noise of going through the coat. If the coat is dirty, really overgrown & the blade not being quite right for the coat its going through it can make all sorts of different noises. What blade number where you using ??
  11. Southern River is still expected to hit 42,Canning Vale 40 . Other areas lower. We already have 35 here . Just hope the clouds stay over & it doesn't end up humid
  12. It actually got hotter at the show last night as it progressed . We had the big fans going all night . Southern River is also always hotter than most areas at the best of times
  13. The quarantine jobs very rarely go to anyone outside. They have to advertise outside but they normally employ those already in the system who now the law requirements &knowledge of the field & then they train those people to become handlers which takes months & months. That is how it always worked with the beagle brigade . I only now of one person who got a job within one of these fields without prior knowledge but they where very good trainer/handler already & could prove how much of an assest they would be before learning all the other aspects
  14. Very lucky, not nice weather for a puppy to be lost in
  15. I think the major mistake people make is presuming its toilet trained to early & don't follow through on reliability. People also chop & change the routine as pup gets older expecting it to just "get it". Do you plan to use a doggy door.ring a bell.bark to be let out ?? What ever method you plan start training it now, don't think at 15/16 weeks as pup is now older to introduce a whole new concept of toilet training. All our pups are trained to use the doggy door from 6 weeks & will also bark to be let out if in the pen
  16. 40°C 42°C 42°C 38°C 35°C 38°C 38°C The rest of the week it getting cooler
  17. Most Schnauzers of all sizes wont be in coat this time of year ,unless the coat can be rolled you only get 6 months in the ring so you pick the shows wisely. The Schnauzer Champ show is in March so there will be Giants there
  18. What colour is your staffy ,the white hairs for example shed more than the brindle or solids
  19. I see no issue with wearing sunnies but i would say there are sunnies & then there are sunnies. I have worn them ,its rare but sometimes its simply the best option & never had a judge issue many judges wear sunnies but the ones i wear aren't a fashion statement they just blend in nicely & look like there there as a sunglass purpose .
  20. air con in house & kennel nearly 24 /7 .given the tariff we pay for power its simply not worth thinking about & after all i would sooner be comfy
  21. Posted on FB for those showing this weekend ****IMPORTANT NOTE**** In light of the weather forecasts for this weekend both Saturday & Sundays shows will be put back to 7:30 pm starts. Pending the finalisation of any other logistical matters. Final confirmation will be posted tomorrow night. The call has been made now to allow time to get this on the CAWA website. Please be aware that this change may result in some breeds being reallocated, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CONTACT OR EMAIL contacts in Canine News to discuss this matter. Can every one to work as a team to let those that are not on this FB page of this change. Thanks in advance for everyone's co-operation. Regards Scott (FB Co-ordinator).
  22. The judges should be going over the dog that is part of assessing a handlers ability to handle a dog each breed is unique with special features that should be shown off or varying techniques used to show the good points & bad points after all that is what assessing a good handler is .They don't need to go over like breed judging but a judge should put there hands over enough to see what control the child has & how they deal with a dog that may not be co operative or stands there perfectly but does nothing The problem is many people judge from the outside with no clue what the judges encounter in the ring & what some children can & can't do . Having judged Juniors for many years i see the major mistakes children make that the outside folk don't see & understand is a major bobo that you then need to assess against each child .
