Separation Related Behaviour In 7 Months Puppy
Dogsfevr replied to Charlotte123's topic in Puppy Chat
She had you home all day to be at her beck & call.now she suddenly has no one so yes she is pi**ed off ,doesn't mean its separation issues. She lives in an environment that is very limited to amuse herself, the house is her yard so anything in it is fair game ,i would count yourself lucky so far. She was good because you where there to tell her no or call her away, now its like leaving a 3 yr old in a room unattended for hrs with crayons & the likes & saying don't do anything ,it won't happen especially at this age. My current 8 months has just been possessed by Satan, she has an acre to run but she is being normal.she wants to experience new things & she is doing that ,she is also a delightful dog when not being her age . At 7 months dogs become little teenagers some stay angels some don't.She is a gundog & an active breed with a smart mind & you need to exercise her mind . As for giving her access to everything at this age good luck LOL Ours earn't the privilege but even now they are not allowed in the front of the house No dog is trained at 7 months & this is a big mistake people .she had you at home for guidance now she has to learn to do it alone & this can be a whole different training . It sounds like you need to make the balcony into a dog yard that is more fun for her so she can amuse herself, -
There where 2 listed on FB but not sure if they are them or not so will wait until confirmed

The Mini Smooths can be barkers & the Mini Longs . Std Smooths loyal Guard dogsa. My favs are the Std long as they are so Setter like in many ways . I also handled them for many years & they are referred to as the mini Irish Setters as they have that gundog nature & love life fully. I guess what you need to consider with a Frenchie is the eyes as with Pugs ,if the cats swipe they are more at risk of eye injury but it can happen in any breed. Yes some breeds can be barkers but it also comes down to what people except & as we say to our puppy owners what is cute at 8 weeks isn't at 12 months . Poodles can be barkers so really any breed can fail there. The key is as someone will be home all the time is teaching the dog to be independent & not needy when left alone .

I have friends who breed poms & i show Frenchies. Poms are more active & more full on than frenchies & certainly can bark at walls if need be . Frenchies are rare barkers & the noise they do make is very quiet compared to many breeds. I also own Setters (english) . To be honest any breed can fit in because it really does come down to owner effort . Other breeds Japanese Chin Papillion Whippets Dachies Really the list could be endless

Basic Grooming Info For 'oodles'
Dogsfevr replied to Chequeredblackdog's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Shells yours may be fine. People need to determine whether the slicker is hard by running it up there arm(mind you hard slickers can be easily felt) & not using it as an excuse for dogs bad manners when being groomed. Lawrence Slickers are good ,masterpet do a great one . Cat ones are often gentler but you simply run your fingers over & if it isn't gentle throw it,it shouldn't be like a scraper you would clean the BBQ with. What are they like when you comb them ?? Do you brush them on a non slip surface ?? -
Depends on the effort & whether they have access outside or reliant solely on humans letting them in/out. Our pups learn the doggy door from 6 weeks so our pups go to there new homes understanding outside is for toilets but we still keep on top of them because when they play they can get distracted so outside with a Toilet word is done alot

I am sure the dogs mouth is cleaner than many humans :D I would hope they wash all there cups & utensils after being used by SOME humans . AS for sharing ,who gives a toss. I share my empty plate with the dogs ,they love licking the last bits & bobs & i haven't dropped dead from dog germs but there again mine sleep on the bed,sit on the chair & enjoy all sorts of aspects being a family pet . And the biggie ,My dogs give great kisses As for what dogs lick i am sure many of us have seen people pick there noise, come out the toilet without washing hands, handle foods without washing there hands dear lord i have seen more gross things by humans than i care to dream & use in eateries & then head off to the all you can eat buffet . How many people wash there dogs bowls in the dishwasher Its okay my dogs are trained in personal hygiene

We have a van & will say getting dogs in/out of all ages & issues is so important depending on the size i guess. Friends have dual cabs & whilst great pain in the arse to get things in/out even though lower the drop door just gets in the way for getting in . I am agile & can climb in if required but it hurts your knees & depending on your clothes not tye easiest. We have a 4 wd to which isn't dog friendly but wasn't brought for that intention, the dogs can happily sit in there but its more for towing the trailer . My advice would be if owning bigger dogs & looking at cars take a 20 KG biscuit bag with you & use it for lifting & getting things in/out & then consider those vehicles where evrything slides to the back & you have to crawl in

For Those That Haven't Gone To Training Recently
Dogsfevr replied to Cosmolo's topic in General Dog Discussion
I should add i think another issue is clubs that train there way or no way. Whilst i appreciate the all new fashion training methods it doesn't mean it agrees with every dog & when people get feed up clubs don't look at other options that may work. Yes some don't want chains used but many people grew up using them with no issues & find the new ways of training odd & some instructors go on like pork chops about training from the past when many in the class may have grown up using those methods with success. They stand there mad to feel like cruel owners if they don't use there method . Clubs are there to train that person & dog after all they take there money . For me a good club is one that has good beliefs but is open enough to realize some dogs need different methods or tools . I remember a trainer going on how they had found the light with all these new methods & when asked about the past successes & what they meant couldn't truley explain why now & then where any different . Now you have the clicker which is the new fad toy but many dogs trailled just as well in the past without it it all comes down to handler & dog clicking for the right method to that dog & that handler . I now a few clients who have sort private lessons with trainers who have this approach of no methods suits all & the owners after struggling at training & keen enough to try & solve the issues swapping to a method that was so anti club but so perfect for them & have great members of the public . -
For Those That Haven't Gone To Training Recently
Dogsfevr replied to Cosmolo's topic in General Dog Discussion
I haven't trialled or trained for many years . I have a tough skin but can see why people give up. I took a certain breed along for the instructor to tell me she didn't expect much as the breed is known for there stupidity.Which meant i won't spend much time with you. Luckily for me i new other clubs members well & they also new me & the issue was addressed but it should never have happened in the first place & said stupid breed has achieved some of the highest result in Australian trialling. I now a quite a few who give up because they are bored ,i think the other issue is some people simply expect miracles at training & when it doesn't happen blame the club & those people can't be helped but i think a better introductory class for the first night would be better where you don't bring your dog but get explained what the idea of the class is,the effort that is to be put in at home, the results that class is aiming for & the help people can get if struggling & class etiquette regarding your dog, other dogs & other handlers . I think demo's from dogs would also be good for first night classes but not just perfect trial dogs not everyone wants that they just want to see what a bit of training can achieve & why its great . I have gone down on occasions to walk young pups around to hear instructors telling people there doing a great job when they aren't,i appreciate there is a way of telling people when there doing good/bad but its a class & if things aren't right be honest after all how do people learn . At the club i walk at they occasionally allow multi people to work a dog & its hopeless. I do think the main thing is boring classes especially in winter ,its cold, the grass is freezing, people are struggling to get there dogs to sit ,they fail multi times given this command & get frustrated. I think classes can be made more fun & varying & sometimes adapting to the weather on the night/day . Lets face it not many dogs will be sitting on cold grass in 0 degrees . I train junior handlers for showing & the occasional adult & once the dogs & handlers have switched off you have lost that learning ability so making it fun for all is so important . I spend times getting the kids to teach there dogs to catch, some think its weird but the dogs love it & focus on that child, the hand & everyone enjoys the moment . A good 20 mins is far better than a useless hr -
I now people that use roof racks but i also watch them struggling to get them up there so i guess it depends on what size gazebo you have. Some of those carry there on little steps so they can then reach to tie them down

Are People Rude Or Am I Too Sensitive?
Dogsfevr replied to GSDowner's topic in General Dog Discussion
To sensitive . You say people are always making comments about your dogs age well maybe they see an older dog than you do. I groom/board dogs & some people don't accept there dogs age or how old they are becoming . Maybe your not seeing what others do. I personally embrace the age stages my dogs through & enjoy every bit of being a puppy to being a golden oldie -

Slicker all the way pin brushes aren't designed for the type of brushing it needs, there more finishing brushes. Slicker (one that isn't hard & you can brush your arm without it hurting & a combo comb . Then of course telling the people to use the tools is more helpful for someone reason buying tools & then using them is a weird phenomin Also we tell people to brush from the feet upwards ,this actuially will brush the coat not skim over the top if done the other way around. Use slicker to fluff out the coat from the toes upwards ,then use the comb to go through the coat & remove any knots . The top coat depending on what kind it has again you can brush backwards & then comb or forwards . Clip regularly as well & don't bath matted coats -
Choosing A Dog To Go With Golden Retreiver
Dogsfevr replied to thomo84's topic in General Dog Discussion
Depends what you expect the second dog to do?? Do you want the Goldie to be able to play or are you just wanting a companion. Did the Goldie play with the other dogs or just interact . There are plenty of breeds but it depends on what characteristics you want for the matching set . -
The canine dog shop (WA) sells them otherwise you can just buy direct http://pupkus.com.au/index.php/products/dryers.html

I was very surprised how small the benching area is even including the crated dogs .Compared to other Royals i have been to it was a shock but i love the video feed into the benching areas even though i didn't get to really see it & the ring set ups was nice I enjoyed my day there on saturday

Temperament is part of the breed standard so any ethical breeder strives to breed for the whole package . Pet owners should also expect to purchase a pup that looks like the breed & all the requirements per the breed standard . One shouldn't have to second guess what it is because a breeder breed solely for one thing Having said that a breeder can sell a wonderful pup with a super temperament & the pet owners ruin it . The pet owners also pay a massive role in the outcome of a pup

Melrose make 2 dogs products oil & granules. Go the granules We recommend the granules to many people & very budget friendly & doesn't smell, The oils stink You can by the human version but i believe some require an additional it supplement

Perpetual Trophy Recommendations Please :)
Dogsfevr replied to stonecutter's topic in General Dog Discussion
Also keep in mind once you have one someone else often wants to donate more so the club really needs to discuss long & hard what the long term is for trophies . They can become very expensive to a club especially if funds aren't plentiful. Also keep in mind dogs co owned who aren't members but one is. It is really ideal to list what qualifes one to be able to have there name on the trophy ie will you just put names of members or are you going to put the name on irrespective (generally Non members don't get there name on -
Perpetual Trophy Recommendations Please :)
Dogsfevr replied to stonecutter's topic in General Dog Discussion
Make sure the club is happy to finance the trophy & cover the costs for a long time. Also make sure the club has it covered who is entitled to win it,whether it can leave the state & how many months in advance they need to be members. The clubs i am on are fazing them out they are costly & someone always ends up having to chase around for there return, store them . As for trophy the easiest to maintain, clean & repair -
There not naive ,They like everyone else would have done the breeder exam sheet before gaining there prefix where they had to research & answer the questions correctly. They now the rules but obviously don't wish to follow them ,not the type of breeder i would deal with at all
