  1. Dog show I am feasting with the Lab crowd but am based on my own
  2. Like others have said its all about management & then its all about what you plan to keep puppy wise. I would say as far as the breeding side goes picking a bitch that is very strong in Dalmatian features because looking at the LUA on video you can see the pointer trait there so you may find your first litter to be a mixed bunch with some aspects you don't want & then look at a stronger second generation .
  3. Are you using a Hotmail email with a weird name. We get alot of puppy emails with hotmail or similar that go straight to our "junk" email & to be honest if we don't now who sent it we don't open or check them. To not get one reply i would consider what your are writing is turning people off or sending an alarm bell off. Like Rebanne said the perfect owner emails don't win you brownie points,we have had plenty who thought they where perfect & when they came out for a meet & greet had no hope of getting a pup from us . We prefer phone calls & then ask those people to follow up with email contact with all there details .
  4. Just google you will get stacks but some are very sad so i guess it depends on there level of understanding
  5. The crate has become a game. When let out put her on lead & walk her outside to the toilet ,no fuss. All my pups that are crate trained are taught from day one crate manners ,that means no charging out,no silliness just walk out calmly onlead & outside .They grasp this very quickly & are angels in the crate & very trustworthy & safe As for bed playing its a game & fun dogs are like toddlers & they do naughty things but the pup needs words to understand what you want & direction. Locking in the bathroom or similar means nothing . You need to direct to a better behaviour or as mentioned keep the door shut
  6. Anyone who is showing this weekend please share the info VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION: 1. Due to the extreme weather conditions judging at all 3 shows will now be commencing at 7:30 PM. This is after sunset. Please pass this information on to anyone you know who may not be on FB 2. The Canine Association is CLOSED and WILL NOT BE OPEN TOMORROW! Please also pass this information on to others not on FB so that they do not call me to ask as I have had several calls already! 3. The grounds DO NOT OPEN on Saturday until 5 PM. Please remember that there is plenty of room on our grounds and you do not have to be at the front, particularly as we have delayed the start of the show there will be plenty of time to set up when it is slightly cooler. We do not need to cause a traffic hazard by having cars lined up and down Ranford and Warton roads before 5 PM. Think of your dogs (and yourself) and come down a little later when it is cooler if you have later breeds.

  8. Yep only Parvo & that prices is plain crazy although one of the cheaper ones. When our clients come for boarding we nearly die seeing what some are charged for vaccs ,plain highway robbery . Our vet charges a pittance & does home calls & still makes a decent profit which i don't object too
  9. I would think an Aussie Shep would be more suitable than a Collie especially in dogs sports & juniors
  10. As mentioned minis are very stoic they will stull eat even when sick so not eating is a major sign above blood shot eyes. Not drinking & peeing is a very big concern. Whilst they can suffer from stones they normally pee alot but it depends if those signs haven't been noticed?? But like others i would be at the vet,the stage your Mini is at is serious as far as the breed toughness is. We have breed/shown Minis for over 28 yrs now & only once have we had one hit that stage & it was a giant concern because they are to tough I just hate the thought of him being away from me at Christmas! I would sooner have a dog for Christmas or the very less ensure i gave it every chance no matter what the outcome is
  11. Stupidity by parents is so more common these days & people wonder when at dog shows we arn't as eager to let the dogs interact with kids. Even when we have had people come out to look at our breed its amazing how parents think its alright to allow there children to be feral to a strangers dog & then they expect the breeder to sell them a pup. We have on a number of occasions asked people to leave due to the lack of respect shown to our dogs & lack of parent control. Obviously we where on the ball & the dogs are never in a position to get harmed . We have very set rules here that kids must follow & if they don't listen & the parents don't support there kids in doing what is asked see you latter ,This sadly is one of the reasons breeders are reluctant to sell to people with children ,yes its one bad apple in a small minority but those bad apples do alot of public damage when it goes wrong . In many ways this video could be used as a wonderful teaching tool
  12. You need to treat treat them as normaly as possible BUT make allowances .Don't spoil tough love will make it better for her Walks & the likes may happen down the track but you need to get her adjusted to her home environment . That may mean laying carpet runners to & from water bowls or the back door . She will fear the unknown & they will bump into things but they way you react to this will decide how easy it becomes to adjust. Also watch her when moving our blind dogs where very methodical on there routine & if disturbed often went back to the start so if she is on a journey don't disturb unless its dangerous. If she looks lost & distressed then help but don't fuss, calmly go back to pint A & let her settle. Dogs can adjust well we had one that was blind for 4 yrs & ran the acre ,did the doggy door etc etc She was PTS when her smell & hearing went
  13. Depends what agreement you have with pet sitting . Here it would be a vet visit for any of our boarders
  14. Why so surprised about the future vet some of the worst BYB in our breed are vets & of course many vets encourage there clients to breed there dog . They are some of the worse supporters of BYB/puppy farms & many are those exact things themselves
  15. I have seen stacks lately in back of utes i feel for the poor buggers on warm days having to stand in there ,rubber mat or not those surfaces get hot. I also cringer when they hit the brakes & see the dog flung into the cab
  16. Here the license in this scenario is renewed yearly so each year you have to hope/pray any new neighbour approves otherwise you are in a pickle
  17. There is no such thing as best food ,what works for one is a disaster for another . This is a question you should be asking your breeder now . You would only be changing the diet if its very poor or ideally with the consultation of the breeder as a good one nows what suits that breed the best . Keep in mind many breeders guarantee there pups providing the diet feed is followed because some brands or diet changes that aren't suitable can make or break your pups future. We do with our pups,we give the diet sheet & any changes must be done in consultation with us or we will void certain aspects of our guarantee due to people doing things that aren't suitable & creating issues .
  18. All our dogs have been cremated & over the years we have had about 18 done. Some companies use the most ugliest urns out, some just place them in plastic boxes or velvet bags some companies take for ever to get the ashes back. We use a company here that is amazing, they use stunning pottery urns & place a message of your choice on there ,They return your dog in days . For many years they sat in the cup board ,some we spread in there fav spot & 2 years ago some others we placed together in a new tree we planted ,a small number we have kept
  19. Depends on the quality you build but ours are insured for over $800 000 . 50 kennels is alot to start with & to be honest to build good kennels.outside yards etc etc i would look just under 1 million to do it right . If buying an established place around the million mark . The above price may/may not include all the additional items you need, advertising, car signage, insurance etc etc or buying the land . We have 24 & that keeps us very busy with 2 people
  20. Interesting because Dobes are one of the most common breeds used in Junior handlers which starts at 7 yrs because they are so adaptable, trainable & respond to little or alot of encouragement
