Rehoming Rescue Dogs - How To Enforce Desexing ?
Dogsfevr replied to brutus's topic in General Dog Discussion
Pre paying for spaying isn't going to work unless you apply a set time frame Our pups are sold on spay contract & date must be done unless other wise notified of a reason why it can't be (more the girls ins season). We hold a bond that is returned . It is all clearly stated in our sales contract that they sign . -
Is this the same pup that got kicked out of puppy school?? I think this is the key issue here My big mistake is to try get them back, which turns it into a chasing game for him He is creating his own fun & you are rewarding it so ofcourse stealing them will be fun. Mind you we don't leave anything laying around that is tempting for a dog after all if its on the floor then the dogs thinks its there as thats where there toys are. We have had some that wouldn't touch but its rare. The problem is you need to let them out to educate them ,time out means nothing to the dog ,it just means sitting in the pen /crate for what ever reason but it makes the owners feel good. How much actual free time does pup get,how much time running the backyard does it get ? How many walks a day ?? Tends to sound very bored

We where at our friends place & these are there back neighbours

We board stacks of Grey s & use to own them & never had an issue. As long as they have a comfort they adapt very well. Serious issue is behaviour that could affect a kennel being able to perform any care with the dog or has a medical issue of such extreme it may not work . These scenarios' are to ensure the kennel staff can work with the dog & the dog isn't in any harm due to not fault of anyone & yes we have had one dog in that we told the owners it couldn't be boarded (well we wouldn't take it) . Barking most dogs will do at first that isn't any drama's unless its an extreme barker at home . Our Greys never made a noise & never screamed ,they bounced up & down loved there zoomies

we run kennels & get alot of people who ask this & we say it will make no difference, Generally people do a short stay & by the time the dog has settled or got use to the routine its going home. If it makes you feel better then go for it but in the scheme of what you want to achieve it won't work . The only time we have suggested was for a few very select dogs that had serious issues

A Question About Ear Hygeine
Dogsfevr replied to Topoftheheap's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
yep we tell everyone with ear issues to treat the feet aswell.not sure why vets don't -
So are you saying your friend knocked on the door & walked & did nothing but the pup had a hissy fit & started howling for no reason except it wasn't locked in its pen?? If thats the case i would say this pup needs more exposure to the world & less sheltering . I am not a fan of the fear period aspect, i think like Seperation anxiety people use it to quickly asa reason for behaviour issues when it isn't You say you have a trainer does the dog have issues ??? Has the pup been in a show yet & if so how did it behave?? At this age my show pups are encouraged & exposed to every thing & anything, there not sheltered & taught to be confident.

I would have no issue . If we had a pup born with a kink it would depend on the severity but would certainly consider docking below the kink, some kinks are not dog friendly

We breed Minis & they are pigs for food, even if they where dying they would still eat food BUT eating stones & the likes isn't normal . They will eat till they burst ,we emphasis this in our paperwork to our puppy buyers . They work very well training wise for food. Depends if pup is gulping or just eating quick?? Ours would take 10 sec to eat there meal on a bad day . Minis are very smart dogs & learn very quickly they also train there owners very well because people fall for the cute syndrome. Was your pup brought from a breeder or pet shop ??

New Dog From Breeder.. Something Not Right......
Dogsfevr replied to mel121's topic in General Dog Discussion
Send her back, email the breeder telling them the dog isn't suitable & will be returned . I have just placed an older dog out & they keep in contact & i email once a week so not to annoy them they phone when they had a query & felt they could .All our older dogs go on a trial basis but strictly after many meet & greets. We had alot of interstate people make calls & whilst im sure some may have been great the most wonderful home came up here & well worth the wait for all parties & if it didn't settle or work out its a 20 min drive Maybe ask the person who recommended them to you if there contact details have changed or if there away at present as your wanting to talk with them ,i wouldn't say why -
Breeders - Why & How Did You Start Out?

I guess the main question would be "why you would love to breed dogs." What draws you to doing this & if you did head done this path what would your goals be in breeding . -
Breeders - Why & How Did You Start Out?
Dogsfevr replied to Schnooze's topic in General Dog Discussion
I am a breeder but i really dislike the wording" breeding for a hobby". Hobbies to me are scrap booking ,photography, running etc etc. Breeding as a business for me is when profit is the main aim, dogs should not be a business from pups Breeding is a serious life choice that comes with consequences ,ups/downs & decisions to be made Our dogs to our family members so when a decision is made to breed it comes with alot of questions asked & alot of dedication, thought & above all time commitment. We show & breed occasionally ,our breed is being devastated by BYB breeders ,they never show, don't compete in anything except breed pups for a sort after market sadly what is being breed isn't what pet owners deserve . I should add that i also own other breeds one for over 20 yrs that at this stage i don't plan on breeding, done extremely well in the showring & they are my passion but i can get my dogs from people who have great knowledge & breed wonderful dogs so at present i support them by being a good pet owner who shows & get there dogs into the outside world . Breeding is a last resort for us ,we breed with care but we breed infrequently -
What does the breeder feed?? Diet changes need to be done gradually . I have used it for a growth issue & whilst it solved the issue found it awful on the coat & runny stools . Its like all food your dog has the final say as to what it does well on & your breeder if a good one will supply a diet chart & give diet advice regarding your breed . We use can for young babies venturing to foods but our guys are small but not as a main diet .
-
The best food is what your pup does well on.. Your breeder should supply a diet chart & info as to why they feel that diet works well. What is wonderful for one breed could be a well known nightmare for another breed .

I have had 2 dogs with similar issue both pulled a small muscle under the tail . Off to our Bowen lady ,fixed & quiet for a few days a never an issue after .

Should You Breed, Does It Change A Male Dog
Dogsfevr replied to best4koda's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yes it can change some dogs & people need to be aware of this. For some they stay the same others can mark more( pee up things) ,be more macho around other males (if the frequent dog parks & the likes ) We have had some stud dogs whose attitude adjustment wasn't fun but we can cater for it,we have others that are just the same delightful male they where before. The ones who changed the most had that attitude a tad more prior to matings . But i guess the first question is is the male health tested & what is the hop for him being used at stud . As she owns the male generally you are the stud master as well -
I think the first thing you need to remember is she will be boistrous,it is her age & she entitled to be a pup so maybe managing the older dog for time out & the kids would be a good option as well. I think the first question you need to ask is why she has never been thrilled with walking . Is it due to not been lead trained, walking to far & expecting to much on walks, does the other dog react to her on the walks & maybe feels overwhelmed by to much happening in such a short time frame especially if the pup has built a trust in its owners . When i walk my large breeds at this age it about life experience & seeing the world & the back yard is for boisterous free running . You wont tire the pup out by walking & i am a firm believer of allowing pup behavior but also teaching future behavior . How old are the kids ??

I don't see the European system any better ,there are dogs awarded titles over there that are far worse than any bad ones here . It just comes down to the wording is it quality & worthy of a ttitle answer is simple Yes/No

I personally would go wire if putting 2 dogs in it even if its short trips. I have excellent ones but the added pressure on the sides when laying will most likely break it at some point & yes i have had my well trained dogs suddenly fall out the sides whilst laying after much use, easy to repair but adds up after awhile
