  1. There is a Welsh Terrier breeder in Perth ,i can pm her name if you wish
  2. Buy a baby gate & let oldies have fun on there side & let pup be a pup on its side
  3. Our dogs aren't allowed into the front of the house that is there no go area. Otherwise the family room is ours & theres, all our bedroom doors are stable doors so they can't get in but air con/heating light etc etc can out & everything isn't shut up ,they have a doggy door 24/7 to there small backyard otherwise they have full run of the big yard . The Stable doors where the best thing we ever did with having dogs
  4. I use soft crates BUT all dog are crate trained in wire crates first & even then the soft crates are used for certain occasions, even though my dogs are 100% in a soft crate i wouldn't trust them on there own . Infact my most trusted dog feel asleep & rolled out of his as the mesh gave way from the stitching . The only wire crates ive known to collapse are those not put together correctly or in bad condition otherwise i have wire crates here that are 20 or more years old ,flown mutli states used all the time & never ever had an issue. Mind you some people buy the cheapest wire crates to & some of them are that "cheap "
  5. I think the biggest issue to consider is leaving a young pup with your older dog.no matter how well behaved your older one is i wouldn't be expecting it to work perfectly & leaving them unattended except for the visit each day by a family member . I gather when your previous dog had passed it was older & your 8 yr old got on well together. Now it will be a young pup that wants to play all the time . If the right pup comes along i would consider boarding the JR so it can have fun & get a family member to watch the BC . or wait until you are home
  6. A toddlers bed especially those with sides & there are some great ones & easy for the big guys to get on/off
  7. But then you can add the males that run around the ring with a pocket full of coins & there keys & make enough noise to wake up the dead plus put there own dogs off . Just like those who where heels in the ring on a hard surface, its amazing how many dogs shown by those handlers dislike it yet they don't notice . We can all do annoying things we need to remember that sometimes we don't always realize it & some people focus on other things like its the Devil in the ring when it really isn't that bad .
  8. Many do for example ours would be listed on the animal health trust site
  9. I have no issues providing it is used within reason. I use one for my individual exercises but would rarely use it in a line up with other dogs. Some people use them so often the dogs don't care anyway . If you do use it over the top you will soon get told
  10. yes because the person i use will advise straight away if they feel an x ray is required . The last time our bowen person ask us to get an x ray was after the vets said nothing was wrong, she was right & the x ray showed the issue . .
  11. yes but on older dogs but we use Bowen because if the arthritis is an issue all the joints will suffer from the dog getting up & down. Maintaining a good exercise pattern is also important & watch the weight . Even if sore the dog still need sto move around.swimming is great
  12. I don't read that section often * if & when i do i would miss every post & i imagine many others are the same. The title is very specific so i can see why many people would not feel the need to visit the area & i certainly don't see people not replying there as ignoring someone its just not an area i visit. If the same topics where posted in health then chances are more people would read & maybe give advice. But like others have said advice can't always be given & sometimes the obvious advice isn't what the OP want to hear so better to say nothing .
  13. We own a scanner ,the cheap so no drama & when the pup goes to its new home its scanned infront of new owners to ensure paperwork matches . Very easy peasy
  14. We hand strip cavies coats with stripping tools ,it doesn't shorten the coat at all (unless you are breaking it) Schnauzers we strip back to skin (bald) & then maybe with a good coat roll it ) Cavies shed all the time so many tools can be used to strip out the dead coat & keep the stunning top coat & colour ,you don't shorten it you remove the dead coat
  15. The 14 July The Cavie club of QLD have there Champ show there will be a great turnout from dogs all over Australia maybe worth considering as a meet & greet day
  16. I don't mind at set shows. I have flown over for the Bulla shows with competitive adults & placed due to this system other wise would have missed out. I also like winning class in groups . I would support a show if it had 1/4 & will be attending a number of shows east that do have this system & find it worth the expense i pay to fly the dogs ,grp 3/4 is still a good win & even those youngsters could get this spot & do
  17. Bathing doesn't have to be weekly but a clean coat is easier to brush. They shed alot BUT this can be minimized by using the correct tools & working on the coat . Most pet owners have the slippers on there feet trimmed tight but others like it. I hand strip alot of my dogs when being bathed as it removes more coat ,i generally use a slick n easy at bath time you can also use a flea or nit comb for the cheaper scale
