I have 3 entire sheltie bitches who never have a cross word between them and live together and do everything together. Fingers crossed everything works out for you.

Congrats on your new pup but I think you definately need an outside run area for a giant size breed, a crate is just not going to cut it and you would be surprised how much wee and poo a big dog can do. I know when i have a pup it is out to the tiolet nearly ever hour for the first while and pups can't hold and nothing worse then coming home to that every day, it will get very old very soon. Hopefully a compromise of the kitchen or bathroom can be achieved. Not trying to get you down with all your puppy joy but you did ask for advice and the advice you have received is true and everyone is just trying to help you. Good luck

I noticed there are quite a few in NSW even if they dont have a litter now, might be worth contacting them still. http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/breeders/beagle.asp?state=NSW&Submit=Go Good luck

We have a 6 dog family here, plus cats and horses. We also have 2 kids under 3 all animals were prior to children. For me it was not a drama it was not something i ever experienced, i think just had to manage and the more you stress about things the worse you get worked up. I also think some new mothers go through a crazy period where they just feel overwheled some people can cope with more than others and may be the dogs have picked up on that and are also feeling on edge. I think may be your wife needs a little downtime. What about if you took the baby and your wife took the dogs for a walk, it might be some nice alone time and also bonding time with the dogs. Good luck, hope it all works out for you.

In my book tyrekickers dont get their money back. You have wasted the breeders time and possibly turned away other people looking at the dog. May be lesson learnt, research before u look at a dog next time, seems like you were utterly unprepared in relation to the breed you are choosing to breed.

I do as well and often find myself saying excuse me when i walk past or over them.

I am not breed prejudice I am owner prejudice ......often the owners do not know the signs to look for before a problem starts, i wish at the dogs park you could have a big sign that says..... "PLEASE WATCH YOUR DOG, YOUR DOG IS HERE TO SOCIALISE NOT YOU".

Cloned Stallion Imported By Top Breeder Of Quarter Horses
lilyandjazz replied to lappiemum's topic in General Dog Discussion
I also think embryo transfer is exciting as well, know a couple of mares it has been done with and owners have had fantastic results, especially in mares that could not hold a pregnancy and also in older mares who have been campaigned and to old to become maiden mares. Hopefully the cost will become less expensive as more are using it. I do know that only 1 foal can be registered each year no matter how many embryos are breed. -
No not crazy, i have travelled that far for a dog and travelled double that to buy a horse. Seems pretty normal to me.

I could not believe it the other day when i saw afghan puppies for sale in a pet shop in the hills district. Even worse they claimed they were easy grooming......i felt so sorry for those puppies -

I think may be give them the benefit of the doubt...if they only moved in a week ago. If still a problem in 2 weeks i would probably go and see the owners and if get no where there, talk to the council. I think it is always better to see the owners and i know myself if I got a letter from the council and only just moved to a new house a week ago and the neighbour had not seen me i would be upset. Moving is a crazy time, hopefully in the next few weeks things should settle down and the dogs stop barking.

I agree best decesion i ever made to get one of mine down, i think she actually had a better quality of life as she was not required to live in side , she could chase birds, bark at sticks etc, i think it really improved the quality of life. I found a very good vet at Wollongong who had been recommended to me by one of my friends and she never had a problem after the operation and was back to her usual self within about 2 days.

Non Dog Related - Vale "just Shameless"

he was born in 1993, he produced so many great ridden and halter horses -
I know this is dog unrelated but in my opinion one of the best paint stallions ever in australia was laid to rest yesterday. "JUST SHAMELESS" Condolences to his old and new owners. He will be sadly missed in the western industry

Welcome to the world of owning shelties........they tend to get better when they hit about 2 but unfortunately this is a sheltie trait and is quite hard to break. I have found the best thing to do is on lead so they can't chase and bark or using a crate. Unfortunately with shelties like this you can exercise them 24/7 and it does not help. I guess that is why you see a lot of debarked shelties. Good luck with your pup they are a great breed and hope you have years of fun with your pup

Yet Another What Breed Thread...
lilyandjazz replied to Verdant Amphibian's topic in General Dog Discussion
My vote is for shelties. We have 3 shelties and I see them with play with my 18 month old niece and they are great but in saying that Shelties can be hard work and you do need to make sure they are socialised and really research their bloodlines and look for a more outoing pup. My shelties also live with cats and never chase them and they are the best of friends. As far as grooming goes if you brush for 10 mins every couple of days you will not have a problem with coats. Good luck with your search -
