Yep i have the Nikkor 17-55 2.8, and it's awesome I agree with everyone else, BC4ME - if your OH is happy to get it, then go for the best! The Nikkor 70-200 VR is a beautiful lens, i'm going to start dropping hints for the OH for xmas pressies , though i think i might have better success with the 80-200 or the Sigma version

Could Somebody Help Me With This Photo, Please?
Poo d'état replied to a topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Not sure how Vickie did it but a simple way is to adjust the levels/curves. HTH -
From the reviews i've read so far the D700 ups the ISO ante, and it's cheaper than the D3 . I'm seriously considering getting one, though my only concern is i have DX lenses and the D700 is full frame. I borrow the D3 at work sometimes and yes, it's like carrying a bag of bricks! An ex-colleague just got the D700 so i'm going to see if i can borrow it for a play around sometime

Phew thanks guys, that's very good to know! I was about to give OH a good grilling

I just got back from the shops with some chicken necks to feed to the puppies for the first time, went upstairs to use the bathroom, came back downstairs and OH had already fed half a neck each to the pups, and they swallowed them whole [note to self: never trust OH with these things again] The OH had chopped one neck in half, gave one half to Enzo (7 months) and the other half he chopped the bone in half again (one side of the flesh still intact) and gave that to Mila (11 weeks). He said Enzo crunched on his a few times before swallowing, but Mila pretty much popped it in her mouth and swallowed, and it was gone! They don't seem to be in any discomfort at all, running around being their normal mischievous selves, playing tug-of-war with a pig's ear right now in fact... Now, on a scale of 1-10, how worried should i be? Should i be calling the vets? The idea that a (half) chicken neck is sitting in their stomachs whole really worries me...

Brachycephalic Breeds And Surgery
Poo d'état replied to Poo d'état's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thanks for the advice everyone! I'll be sitting down with the OH and call the vet for a chat. Can't wait to get it done!! -
My French Bulldog Enzo is almost ready for the snip, and i was just wondering, can i go to our regular vet for desexing or would you advise i get a vet that specialises in the breed to do it? The reason i'm asking is i've been reading bits and pieces about the brachycephalic breeds and anesthesia and it sounds like extra care needs to be taken, is that correct?

Another one for Aloveen Enzo had very noticeable dandruff after his first bath with regular puppy shampoo, as soon as i tried Aloveen i saw instant results, and his coat is a lot softer too.
-
Oh good good, it's safe to use frequently then! When i asked the vet about Enzo's occasional itchy paws, he told me i could give him an Aloveen foot soak regularly... He'll turn into one spoilt puppy!!

Hi all, I recently switched Enzo to Aloveen as he was getting some itchy patches (the vet suspects contact allergies) and was also getting a bit dandruffey after his last bath. I tried it last week and was very impressed - i noticed a big difference straight away! His coat is noticeably smoother to touch, and the dandruff has disappeared overnight. (Granted, it was only his second bath since he's only been home for exactly two months, so he was probably still adjusting? Anyhoo) When i bought the bottle of Aloveen i was told that i can use it a lot more frequent than one would use regular dog shampoo - up to 3 times a week... does that sound right? And why is that so?
-
Enzo is so easily distracted that he'll give it up for anything i offer to swap with him. On the few occasions that he doesn't, i wait close by till he's off guard and steal it back. Can anyone suggest any stronger alternatives to bitter spray? i've tried that but Enzo just licks it off and keeps on chewing
