A Follow On Thread For Those Who Now Have Their Puppy
tikira replied to julesluvscavs's topic in Puppy Chat
Collecting stuff is fun. The most useless- (so I thought)present I was ever given was a ceramic nicnac thing you put baby teeth in. We don't have kids, and it sat in the back of the cupboard- until we got Tippy, and found one of his baby teeth stuck in his blanket.... I still have that tooth, stored safely in the container.... A little wierd- yeah, and I am proud of it. Di -

Wait until they see it framed on the lounge room wall! We made a cardboard graduation cap for Tip's big day, many years ago. He was not impressed, but the people were..... Di -
I think she was framed! (or should be :D ) Di

What a happy looking Bear! Di

Good luck Lhok- I have everything crossed for you too. Di

I do think it is time to start looking :D Mrs RB I see your interpretation of the dog too, well spotted, and yes, the heart does look like a whippet face. (It changed to an elongated heart as I was finding the camera) The only issue I have now is finding a two legged dog with a very short tail, thick neck, big ears and no nose.... any suggestions??? ( then again, Tip couldn't draw very well- just like his mum!) Di

Ohhh, ideas are forming in my head as we speak.... Our puppy will likely be a boy, so will show these posts to Wayne.... he will be thrilled! Good thing we are on 5 acres though  It has been 8 years since we had a puppy, and I admit Tip taught himself somehow - we didn't have a clue about puppy training until we started at the dog club (by then he had it sorted for himself). He then taught Kira, she would just follow him outside- only ever 1 wee inside, I guess we won't get so lucky next time. Yep, downwind is good... minus 6 is pretty standard for us, we get -10 to -15 at times where we are (close to creek). Tip would put off the "run" as long as he could, rush out, then back inside where he would choose the lounge that we moved close to the heater in winter for him, and stretch his feet nearer the heater, and ask for his blankie to be pulled up... spoiled? maybe a little! what a great Dad your partner is Steph... pity you didn't video it for posterity... In one respect Iam happy not to be toilet training in Armidale in the winter time..... minus 6 or worse is Waaaaay too cold for me. Di -
A Parson (Tip was a Parson Russell) or Jack Russell are on top of our list, but we are looking at other breeds as well. A rescue is not out of the question, and I admit I fell in love with Disco Dobe's Jack Russell/ Whippet/collie cross (well, if she looks at him, he WILL be hers). We have also fallen for Aussie Shepherds too, mostly because of the special Aussie Shepherds in this thread. So no, no real criteria yet, but the research is keeping me occupied. Di

absolutely perfect. I am so in awe of the huge-hearted people who are faced with a roller-coaster of emotions every day. I only wish I had the fortitude to rescue or foster, but sadly I know I could never cope with the ups and downs Rescuers face. Rescuers Rock Di -
I totally agree Lisa, Nova was the "chosen" one for you, for better or worse We are more than open and ready to seek our new boy out, just waiting until after our holiday now.... Di

It is a dreadful feeling. The other day our border collie gave us a fright like that, it shakes you up a little.I agree it looks preety convincing. Di -
Congrats to all the prospective puppy owners, they are gorgeous. I keep saying that there will be a sign when we are ready for a new puppy- do you think this could be it? The light on the carpet is not touched up in any way. What do you think???? (I put this here as well, as you guys and your puppy countdowns are helping keep me grounded- I am not the only one who has to wait.
-
Since we lost Tip to snakebite in March I have been telling people that I m waiting for a sign from him that he has chosen a new puppy for us to help make our lives whole again. I found this light on the floor on the 2nd July, the same day our aunt (who knew how much I am grieving Tip passed away). Is this the sign we are waiting for? I choose to believe so, as that thought soothes me. What do you all think? Di

You should have "explored" a long time ago Huga, it looks like Sid may just have found "doggie Paradise" Lovely and well executed, thanks for sharing Di

Welcome Nova, I think I am officially in LOVE, He is gorgeous Lisa. Di

Sounds like riveting reading Lisa, I am sure you can't put it down , but whatever keeps your mind occupied at this moment. I will be thinking of you on Sunday, and looking very much forward to seeing and hearing your posts on DOL once Nova is home, I can't wait to see some more photo's of him. Di

Absolutely stoked to hear this Lhok. Missy and Raiden will choose the right puppy for you, and will send him/her to you when the timing is right. Raidens breeder sounds wonderful, and she must be feeling gutted by this, both for you and Raiden. Di

Atticus is gorgeous. The bigger dog looks like it is saying "mum, what have you done???". I love bellies too- My fav thing to do with Kira is stalk up to her saying "show me your white bits" She rolls over immediately for a belly rub :) Great photo's, now that you know how to upload, we all need more It will be great watching Atticus grow up. Di -
Thanks everyone, we really enjoy making these kind of photo's with captions, but sadly Tip never got to have many one's suitable to caption, and Kira is such a princess she never does anything cute or funny or strange. Oh well, perhaps the puppy who chooses us for his family will be a clown in photo's :) Di

I managed to re-size Raiden's thumbnail photo and poem tribute in post 66, so now it is easier to see and read. Di

Let the fun times begin  -
Hmmm, well, that did not work as it should have I knew I should have waited for Wayne to get home to post this, the file is WAY too small, but it would not allow me to load anything bigger- ahhhh,. technology is way beyond me, I will get Wayne to reload a bit bigger one in the next couple of days. Di

Lhok, here is a keepsake for you. This is small resolution for sharing on the web, and I will send a bigger file through to you personally, without the watermark on it. The photo's were from your previous posts, and the Lightning shot by our very talented nephew Greg Rigby photographics, and Wayne Hoppe Photography (both on Facebook) did the editing work. I wrote the poem and have added a couple of extra lines after reading about Missy. I hope you like it as a first draft. If these photo's don't work for you I will wait until you feel up to raiding the albums for others, but thought I would post this to give you an idea of the sort of thing we do. Regards and hugs. Di Edit is to change the photo size
