Go both ways Snook - use one of your original ideas (slide it in, see if we notice :D ) and do 2 other bird shots maybe? At least you have more use for your props- and I imagine there'll be another theme later on that would allow you to use them anyway.

Done nothing yet - had a big week with my little bloke's birthday. I have a couple of concepts, hopefully they'll go alright!!

Thanks Gapvic! It was the first thing that popped into my head - we'd just picked 4 kgs of raspberries out at Silvan. There's aspects of all 3 shots that I'm not rapt with but they're not too bad. Yours are awesome :D I have zero photoshop skills, its something I really need to learn.

Scheduled for tomorrow morning. I feel vaguely ill now!! Super excited to see all your work And now that I know about the preview thing, I'll be good and not look at anyone's pics til the appointed date..... I will say, I'm playing way out of my depth with you ladies!

I have 2 done, intending to do the last today. Just have some prep to do first! So not used to setting up shots.... And I'm in Melbourne too.

I'm shooting a thing that for me is somewhat magical - to you it might be extraordinarily mundane, we'll see. It's not literally magic though. Just thought that line of thought might be of use :) I think part of the fun will be seeing all the different interpretations of a theme. Nothing will be wrong, it's art right? :D

Should they be stand alone pictures or can I do a set of three? Sort of like the start, middle and end of a thing? If that makes any sense... I'm excited but also a bit scared - you guys are good!

Excellent summary!

So I've seen the neighbour twice now - the cat looks like he's going to be fine. No broken bones, no massive internal injuries, some slight damage to a lung and that's about it. He'll be at the vet for a few days. She's somewhat surprised (impressed, thankful - not sure exactly what ) that my dog didn't rip the cat to pieces! And has also thanked me for telling her, as at least she knows what happened. I don't think it will stop her letting him out again, but i believe they're due to move out next year so fingers crossed for that too.... Thanks to those who gave me words of support, that was much appreciated. And OH MY GOODNESS - Puppy Sniffer, they sound horrific! I just will never understand people that can be so savage.
-
Yeah, we'll see. She hasn't asked , I haven't offered. It is tricky though - I think in any other circumstance I'd be more willing to help out but she was warned and knowingly chose to carry on the behaviour. I just don't know. Again she really doesn't seem too attached to the cat, very very casual about anything to do with it "oh well that's 2 of his 9 lives then" sort of thing. Time will tell I suppose.
-
Cat has been found and is at the vet having x-rays. Neighbour is being very reasonable about it, thanked me for telling her. She's quite blase about it, 'oh he's a danger seeking cat, used up 2 of his 9 lives' etc etc. She'll let me know how he's going. The previous surgery I had seen was for abscesses due to cat fights. I am thankful he has been found. Thanks again.

I've left a note in her door. Hopefully he will come home at some point, no sign of him yet. I have to tell, she doesn't seem an unreasonable person - hoping it remains that way. I've lost cats before and I hate not knowing what has happened to them (this was before we built an enclosure and started keeping them in). I saw him catch, shake and toss - the potential for internal injuries is significant I would think. Her attitude is what pisses me off the most - don't make the fact that you don't like your cat all that much, my problem - which it now is. I'll let you know how it pans out. Oh and tdierikx I am so sorry for what happened to you and your dogs - that's terrible

My council has a cat curfew (dusk til dawn) but they are allowed out during the day. Part of my problem is that she was just so apathetic about the potential risk - when my husband warned her about the situation she just didn't seem bothered, like if the cat were to die if wouldn't be a big problem. If you don't want your cat anymore then go and rehome or take it to a shelter or something, don't just let it wander about and cause trouble and get hurt. Arrrgghhhh people
-
Just spoke to council, ranger said that as cat was on our property that we're in the clear. She said it was state legislation here (vic), that if our animals were safely contained in our yard and the cat (or dog as the case may be) came into our property then our dogs will be ok. I hate this Being legally ok doesn't make me feel any better about the cat. Thanks for your help.
-
Thanks. I have looked for the cat but no luck as yet. I guess I feel that a note seems like avoidance but it may let her deal with it when it suits her, that sounds odd but you know what I mean. Hadn 't contemplated the council thing, will have a think about that as well. Her cat has been injured before, I saw it a few moths back with a half shaven back and stitches. And still she doesn't keep it inside - I think it wrecks the house or something. I will keep looking for the cat, poor thing.
-
So, our neighbour's cat has been caught in our yard a number of times up until now. We have previously warned the neighbour that our dogs will hurt the cat should they catch it (she didn't seem overly concerned for the cat's welfare it has to be said). Dog caught cat this morning - the cat is injured and has taken off, I cannot find it. Neighbour will not be home until later,I need to tell her what's happened obviously. I don't know whether to go and talk to her as soon as she's home, to leave a note outlining what's happened and ask her to come and see me - or something else. She seems a little volatile and I don't want to catch her when she's having drama with the kids (this happens a bit for what its worth). How would you approach this situation? (and I feel sick about it all, its awful )

Add me to the list of people waiting for more photos! He's so beautiful, i want one (and maybe one of those frenchies too......)
-
Great start! I may just keep my eye on here to see how its working out for you
-
Thanks rallyvalley and CC, they're great shots! Better than I had expected maybe - my 500d is not much good over 800, can go to 1600 at a push but starting to get too noisy for my liking. Oh I just want new things! Your shots have me thinking that the 7d might be just fine :) Now if I can just convince my husband....
