Oh i missed the extension, boo That'll teach me not to check in here first. I felt like a naughty kid who hadn't done their homework by posting a day late! Super shots so far everyone, must get around to commenting, been way too slack on that front.
-
I'll look forward to those Snook - I'm super curious about whatever it is you're going to see!
-
Cool. Hey Snook - if you go for a arena/stadium type sporting event, just check their conditions of entry. AAMI Park over here (Vic) has a blanket 'no lenses longer than 200mm' rule (this rule is crap - so I could take in a 70-200 Canon L series but theoretically not my Canon kit 55-250. Stupid heads). Homebush in Sydney has a 'no professional camera gear' rule, which I feel is open to loads of interpretation. But yes, sport is as open to interpretation as anything else. Hope you find something fun to shoot :)

Sorry to hear that kja - hope you kick those demons soon, nasty buggers they are. Have we lost a couple of people along the way? Sad if that's the case - I love looking at everyone's work :) Oh and Gapvic, your husband for the win, what a fantastic birthday present!

I was the same MnDM! Realised a day or 2 ago, oops.... Think i have some but it's a challenging one.
-
Yep, from the list or something else of your choosing. It's always a little nerve wracking waiting for the next one!
-
Congrats! Great photos - I love the pelican one too :)

The first week mine loaded to the right size without me needing to do anything. Others weeks I've had to stuff around trying to make them the same size as everyone elses! So this week, I chose the 'original size' option which seems to be ok, well similar to the post under mine anyway.

Oh Larissa so very sorry for your loss Be kind to yourself, it's a hard time.

Came across this on a photographer blog today - thought it fit nicely with the discussion! Good story to go with it as well. I would love to see the image in real life :) http://www.joemcnally.com/blog/2013/02/13/gone-to-the-dogs/

And having read a little of their shareholder literature, I'm also concerned about that smooch. They seem to be buying practices at quite a pace. A giant vet chain really doesn't appeal to me. True enough Sheridan - I did say it wouldn't be fair to judge on that visit, I'd just be avoiding that particular vet if I go back there.
-
I guess it's the shareholders and business aspect of it that I'm uncomfortable with. That might sound silly considering how prevalent big businesses are these days, but I think I'm more comfortable knowing that profit would go to the person/persons who own and run the clinic - if that makes sense. I was there yesterday and had an unimpressive experience but she was a new vet who I hadn't had before, so that's not a fair way to make a judgment call. Might start looking around though. Actually their ethics would be something I'm interested in, might have a hunt around - thanks greytmate.

This might sound odd, but here goes! So my vet has recently become part of the Greencross (group? model? franchise?) thing. It doesn't sit all that well with me for some reason, I'm not entirely sure why. The staff are mostly the same so that's good. I'm just wondering if this has happened to anyone else's local vet and if things changed - price increases, service changes or anything. Hope to hear some experiences - thanks :)

Everyone posts at some point today. If I'm organised and they're ready, I schedule them to show up early (blog time is WA time!). Last one though, I just published straight away as it was on the day. Doesn't really matter, as long they arrive at some point! Super excited to see other posts today.

That is left to your own interpretation......
-
Oh well in that case I take it back and will MAKE YOU DO HUMANS!! :p No, I won't. But hopefully i scared you just a little........ :D
-
Yeah, should have given a smidge more info! Human or animal is fine by me :D
-
Oooh what lovely dogs! Those curly coats are great :)
-
I didn't say they were any good Snook! Just that I can't decide which ones to put up
-
Yep - its hard work isn't it! They're so fast and you have no idea where they're going next. Bird photographers must have the patience of a saint. And then you get the camera out and they stop doing whatever it is that you wanted them to keep doing. Contrary creatures  Hey kja - have your birds come back yet??
-
Arrgghhhh! Now I have more than 3 - and I'm being very indecisive. I like them all for different reasons. Might just have to put the other ones in here!! After posting date of course. (and I'm not a bird person either.......)

Have to say I was tending towards not doing a trial, but would consider it if it was generally considered to be helpful. I have no concerns about him not eating - food is the love of his life! I'll have a chat to the kennels and see what they say about the screaming/barking. I can only give it a go, see what happens - and it doesn't work out well, then he'll just have to keep on camping. Thanks faytiges, I'll pm you soon.
-
Showdog - do you mind me asking what you'd classify as 'serious issues'? My biggest concern is excessive barking (possibly screaming - the 'greyhound scream of death' is not fun for anyone). Thanks for your perspective too, much appreciated.
-
He's not though - I got him as an 8 week old pup. I didn't think to mention that.
-
So we're thinking we might kennel one of our dogs over Easter (a place that's been highly recommended by a friend and has a couple of spots free). He HATES going camping which is what we're doing over the break. He's only been kenneled once before many years ago but it was both dogs in the same run but this time he'd be on his own. He is a slightly grumpy 9yo greyhound (this may be relevant!) The form letter e-mail I got suggested a trial run so the dog can get used to it. I guess the thing that concerns me is the 'what if he doesn't settle?' thing. He is quite capable of long term barking when he decides he doesn't like something and he is as stubborn as it gets. So if you were in my situation, what would you do - or have done in the past? Advice gratefully accepted :)
