Hi Elfin, Nothing could be found with a physical examinaton so he went through a battery of tests yesterday which came back all clear - we are waiting on urine. Today he is of absolute perfect health and was acting normally all day yesterday whilst being tested. He even ate a full can of dog food! They think that whatever it was, he is getting over - we just needed to spend $1665.00 yesterday for him to feel better........grrrrr But oh well, at the moment he is well and hopefully it stays that way. If he crashes again they will do bloods and try to grow cultures from them. Until then we wait...... Lets hope we dont have to go back! They were wonderful wonderful people down there, couldnt have been happier leaving him with them for the day!

Yes, that's where I got Axles cardiac certificate too, I havent met Matt though. Cant wait 'til Monday, it is going to be a very long weekend with a sick boy!
-
Matt Reeves the at the Southern Animal Referral Centre in Moorabbin - small animal medicine specialist. I just tried to call them for cost (why did I not do this first...idiot me!) and $165.00 for first visit and then further costs would be discussed then.
-
Thank you, I'll have $200 in my wallet. I wish they could talk so he could just tell me what is so wrong! :D Thank you for your wishes

I have a sick boy who the vets cannot diagnose. We have been referred to a specialist on Monday. Now I know this is going to cost me and thank goodness we have insurance but does anyone know the cost approx for a first consult? Just want to make sure I have enough cash on me and as I didnt make the appt (my vet did) I didnt get the opportunity to ask. I'm sure the cost will come with all the tests they run, whatever they happen to be. My poor boy, I just want him better :D

A very unfortunate incident, as all dog v's human incidents are. I hope the humans recover from their wounds and I hope that whatever is professionally found to be best for the dog is done.

kja, thank you, from the bottom of my heart thank you!! My daughter who is on exchange (coming home next Sat after 12months is Germany) had copied 1500 photos and 21 camera videos to a USB stick, the stick corrupted and I had it sent home and our IT guy had done everything to try to retrieve all her Jan 2010 - June 2010 photos including everything form a 16 week tour of Europe...you know, Austria,Italy, Paris, Amsterdam, you name it she went there...... I sent the IT guy your link and he ran it and nothing came up, he contacted the program IT engineers who gave him a few suggestions and all photos & videos have been recoverable. Thank you so much, without your post my 18yo would have been without 6 months of photos to remind her of Europe and have memories to share with us when she gets home. I am truely thankful XX ETA...our IT guy had given up totally, we had been told they were lost so you can imagine how the skype call went to Germany earlier tonight. Megs says "kja rocks!!" in between squeals.....

I am forever thinking of what would be a great shot for next week....unfortunately so far the camera and I aren't working as a team!

Beautiful shot TerraNik !! Great shots everyone, roll on next week!!

Thank you KK09, I'll give that a go, greatly appreciate it :p Free is always good, nearly died at the price of photoshop when I googled it!!!

Wow, what fantastic shots already, makes me a little intimidated to post my "snaps" from my new camera in here!! Oh well, I've got to start somewhere, doing a course late Jan so hopefully I'll improve with time. I am loving fiddling atm with absolutely no idea of what I am doing... I have no photoshop, so photos are as taken or cropped until I work out what the best program is, suggestions welcomed. Week 1/52 - Introducing all dogs for week 1 So this is one of the boys, Rusty: And Axle (cream) & Diesel (Gold):

Waiting (attempt #1 with a brand new camera!!) -
LOL See how confused I am - the camera is a EOS 500D ETA: Thanks Rubiton, I love close ups and also action shots, so the idea of getting perfect action shots of my goofy boys (goldens) is what is making me move from my point and shoot camera PLUS the added fact that I have to replace my point and shoot as my 17yo daughter had it pickpocketed from her at an Austrian feastival last weekend. She is on exchange atm..... so a new camera is a must like it or not And edited again: I do like having the video option as I had with my point and shoot, it came in handly every now and then, not often, but I did like having it there.

Hi everyone, I have been trawling through this topic and absorbing information and confusing myself with what to get and what not to get, and I must add loving the photos you have all taken, you are all very talented! I havent used a SLR camera since uni (part of my fine art degree until I left), and am wanting to get back into photography for myself, a little hobby, to hopefully be able to take some nice shots for my walls etc now my kids have grown up and I have time to do something enjoyable for myself. I will take photos of my dogs, people and generally what looks like a nice shot to my untrained eye! I am currently looking at the Canon 15MP DSLR Twin IS Kit which has two lenses 18-55IS and 55-250IS, does this sound like a good place to start? I will add lenses as I go as I get better and understand my camera and what I want in a shot further. JB HiFi are selling for $1193 atm and so far that seems to be the best price. I would really appreciate any comments/ideas. Thank you

I can sympathise - we have a golden retriever who vomits and then the other end too.....he foams at the mouth and drools until he is soaked to the skin. Nothing and i mean nothing has stopped him. A 10 min drive will usually produce a vomit if not a fully wet chest! We have a trip 3.5hours down the Great Ocean Road in December and back.....off to the vet for something to toally knock him out. We have done everything....... we have tried everything other than the snood and childs tshirt and the new medication..... Basically we have given up, we just wait for the vomit now and pray his other end doesnt go too! LOL Glory Glory !! (because you have to laugh!) PS. He is 3 years old!!
-
LOL - I have to laugh, no resource guarders here with either of my goldens. They have never shown any signs of ever being that way. They never steal anything from inside.....and would never guard their treasures, they'd prefer to share They too love to meet you with something in their mouths whether it be the last piece of electrical cord which was hours earlier running the pool pump, or maybe the one that ran the solar heating, the bar fridge, the outdoor sound system, the internet cable, the $4k of cafe curtains, fence pailings ripped clean off the fence, holes for the new spa we hadnt planned, and anything else that wasnt bolted down!! Bedding is a thing of the past, toys are tugged apart within hours, bones are devoured, the backyard is a war zone..... Almost 2 and 3 years old now and things look to be slowing down so I had to laugh at the posts that everyones goldens are non destructive - I obviously have the hounds from hell !! They love the water, swim daily in the warmer months. The eldest would do anything for a ball or food, the youngest doesnt care if food is there or not, food is not a motivator for him. Both are soft and cuddly boys (one desexed one entire), who prefer to be around the family rather than outside. Having said that they also are happy alone and we have no problems with barking (, the destruction makes up for it!!) I have no idea about labs but shedding of goldens is out of this world. It is huge and life with pet hair free clothes has beome a thing of the past. We sweep twice daily, they are brushed daily and we still have tumbleweeds blowing around the house. I love my goldens and all the destruction they have caused slowly fades from memory as each month passes
